Winters-Feather

The dark, gray clouds concealed the Connlaoth sky, blocking most of the sunlight that would otherwise shine through. The thunder announced the storm's arrival before the rain. First it danced lightly, the water making light noises against the metal shingles of buildings. Then it picked up, a hundred thousand feet stomping on rooftops, streets, creating rivers and lakes out of puddles and drains. An unusual storm it was, the people were saying- most died down after an hour or two in this season. This one, though, this one went on all afternoon.  Very unnatural.

Natural or not mattered little to the ghostly figure that wandered through the nearby forest. It hopped and skipped on rocks, carrying along with it a bobbing lantern. Sha-sha enjoyed the storm. He felt alive- as alive as he could- in this weather. Only thing to make the day better was someone to play with. Though the forest was unusually empty so he ventured closer and closer to the city until finally the nearest buildings were but yards away. Maybe, just maybe, he could find a playmate there...

Rain was one thing that Clovis couldn't stand to watch from indoors. He liked the feeling of the tiny drops hitting his fur, and the sound of his hooves sloshing around in the puddles. The only thing that ruined his mood was the fact that he had school that day.... Although, it's not like his teacher would miss him.

So, after making sure the coast was clear, he started trotting down the street, his hooves clopping against the cobblestones as his long, silver tail waved happily in the rain.... The only thing that could make this day better would be someone to play with... he thought as he sloshed around in a big puddle. Certainly, there had to be someone out there....

Sha-Sha cautiously stepped onto the dirt roads of the city. He took delight in the small puddles horse hooves and stuck carts made, skipping about down the main street. Now and then, he stopped to admire shops through their windows. Sha-sha pressed his hand against the glass of a wood carver's shop, marveling at the transparent glass and the interesting looking things inside.

The sound of splashes distracted the spirit. He held up the blinking lantern, turning around to see the shadow of a soldiery figure. Encouraged, Sha-sha glided through the alleyways until he was a block behind Clovis. He peaked around the corner, holding his lantern out. Though Sha-sha was partially hid, he wanted Clovis to see his light. The rain spirit giggled mischievously, the sound of water bubbling.
