Wicked Basket

''If it is your time to die then there is nothing I can do to stop it,'' Grazen told her. ''Even so, I've dealt with Connlaothians before. All of the men are soldiers and well trained. I can't handle more than two or three on a good day, and that's with weapons. I would barely be able to handle one right now and they always send two guards to escort a prisoner.''

Grazen was somewhat shocked that she was asking him to protect her. After all, he had broken her arm. Even if he did want to help, he was unarmed. He stood almost no chance against a pair of armed and armored guards. She must really be desperate to not get killed.

Janette felt the small amount of warmth coming from Grazen, and she brought herself in a bit closer, before yawning.

"Goodnight..." She nodded off to sleep quite quickly after that, and as always, it was a black, dreamless night.

Wicked Basket

Grazen felt a bit awkward with a complete stranger cuddled up against him, but if he moved and disturbed her she would start talking again. Grazen decided to take advantage of the peace and quiet and try to get some sleep. After laying there for what seemed like hours, he finally nodded off.

Brisinger987

Janette woke up to the sound of knocking on the door, before the sound of a key in a lock shook her out of her dozy ways.

She scrambled to sit up, when a rather nasty looking guard came in, and picked her up by the throat, at which point she let out a small scream before she was silenced. Two other guards entered the room, swords drawn, ready to stop Grazen if he tried to attack. The guard that had her by the throat pinned her by her right arm, before moving the cloak, as if he was looking for something. Janette tried to scream, but she could hardly breathe.

Wicked Basket

Grazen had learned very quickly the benefits of being a light sleeper in his line of work, so that small scream from Janette was all it took to stir him. The first thing he noticed were the two guards in front of him. Then he noticed the one going after Janette. It didn't take a scholar to figue out what that guard most likely planned to do with her. Grazen grabbed hold of the blanket and kicked the legs out from under the first guard. The guard number two took a swing at him and he barely dodged it as he wrapped the blanket around the guard's arm, took him down, and then tied his right arm to his left leg with the blanket. Guard number one was now on his feet and quite displeased. The guard swung his sword, but Grazen ducked and punched the guard in the throat. The guard dropped his sword as he grasped his neck and gasped for breath. Grazen retrieved the sword and held the blade to the neck of the guard that was after Janette.
''Put the girl down,'' he said threateningly.

Janette was released, but by then she had passed out, so she just crumpled to the floor.

"No scar there. Now, you. For that: lashings." The guard turned to Grazen, and his colleagues recovered.

In her head, she awoke to the feeling of the wind, and the sound of children laughing. She looked around to see a beautiful field, a clear blue, sunny sky, and the sound of birds tweeting. In front of her were two young children playing tag, but they had wings. White, feathery wings.

Then a voice caught her attention.

Wicked Basket

Grazen dropped the sword.
''Well what was I suppose to think when you just barge in here and take the girl's shirt off,'' Grazen said irritated. ''Perhaps if you would have explained yourself first all of this wouldn't have been necessary.''
Grazen was very unhappy with this turn of events. It also reminded him of why he didn't bother helping people. It always just blows up in your face. Now he was going to be lashed. Brilliant.

Brisinger987

Thanks to some supernatural influence, Janette was awake in the cell again, and she simply stood up, her broken arm healed by Guinevere's limited intervention, and walked forwards.

"I'll take his lashings. He only tried to defend me, so I will take his punishment." Janette had a plan in her head that she was forcing herself to follow through, even if it got shot down right there and then.

"Fine, you can take the man's lashings." The guard stepped back, and the other two guards, slightly bruised, escorted her out of the cell. It wouldn't be public, so Janette saved the family at least.

"Be back soon Grazen."

Wicked Basket

Grazen was going to protest her decision, but she had already been escorted out. She clearly had no idea what lashing felt like. This girl was stubborn and foolish. Volunteering for lashes was perhaps the most idiotic decision she had made yet. Grazen would hold up better under the whip then she would. All well, there was no stopping her now.

Brisinger987

Janette came back feeling rather pleased with herself in all honesty. Her body was unmarked, and although she was limping and her hair looked like she'd been struck by lightning, she was pleased to know that she still had her sexual prowess to at least get her out of one lashing. She got into the cell, and smiled at Grazen, pointing to what used to be her broken arm.

"I got a favour from an angel. And a bit of a wakeup call. And I got out of my lashings. Some guards are so easily pleased, it's pathetic really." She sat down rather awkwardly on the floor, trying not to irritate bits of her that were now exceptionally sore.

Wicked Basket

"There are no angels," Grazen said to her. "You're arm obviously must have not really been broken."
Grazen ignored the fact that she just admitted to having intercourse with a guard in order to get out of being lashed. He could say an awful lot about that, but she did get him out of being lashed, so he thanked her by keeping his mouth shut.

Brisinger987

"Most men who just had their arse saved from a lashing would say thank you but not you. Why am I ok with that?" Janette actually felt better knowing she still had some sway over men at least. It gave her a sense of power in a place where she had relatively little.

"There are. If there are no angels, then there are no demons. No good without bad. No dark with light. No up if there's no down." Janette thought that those words put the point across quite nicely, and with a rather renewed sense of confidence, she was much more willing to talk.

Then some of the sludge they called food was placed through a slot in the cell, and Janette just stared at it.

Wicked Basket

"I have only seen demons. There is too much evil in this world for angels to exist. If they did, they would have helped me a long time ago," Grazen replied.
Grazen was not at all a religious man. The only reason he even believed in the existence of demons was that there was one trapped inside of him.
"This is hell," he added. "There are no angels here."
What the prison refers to as "food" was shoved into their cell via the slot. Grazen took it and ate his half before sliding it over to Janette.
"I would believe that most women who had their honor fought for would say thank you, even if they were never really in danger," he retorted.

Brisinger987

Janette decided to try and make light humor so as to ease his rather dark, and sultry tones.

"No, in hell it's nice and warm because of all the fire. This is worse than hell." Janette wanted to prove that there were angels. How else had her arm been fixed. She wanted to help this guy so badly.

"And to that, I say thank you. Now your turn." Janette felt that she wasn't hungry, and so she simply just pushed it back to him.

"I'm not hungry."

Wicked Basket

"You are more naive than I gave you credit for," Grazen said. "Hell is  not  at all a nice place and fire is not warm, it's hot. Have you ever been on fire? It is complete and unbearable agony that simply continues until the fire is doused. After that, it's several weeks of more agony as the burn heals, but I shouldn't expect a spoiled little noble to know what the real world is like."
Grazen didn't know what it was, but this girl was certainly more energized than before. It was probably because she discovered that her arm wasn't really broken, or maybe because she just had sex with a guard. Grazen did not touch the food after she refused it. If she wanted to be stubborn and starve then fine.

Brisinger987

"I was trying to make a joke, lighten the mood. Conversation, ever heard of it? It's that thing where you try to get along with someone. But I shouldn't expect a moody little demon to know what holding a conversation is like." She threw his own comment back at him in her annoyance. She couldn't lighten the mood around this guy. And that made her lose her temper for some reason.

"I don't expect a miserable little demon like you to know what a smile feels like either, I don't expect a rude little demon like you to know what manners are like either! I don't want to know what being on fire is like, although I'll bet it's warmer than this room, an definitely more warm than your personality, you grumpy, melancholy, depressing excuse for a demon! Liven up! Learn to cheer up! At least you have your demonic strength and voodoo shit to help you!" Janette kicked the bowl of food rather violently, sending it sliding across the room, spilling surprisingly little.

Wicked Basket

"I'M NOT A DEMON," Grazen roared as he began stalking towards Janette.
"The beast trapped inside me is a demon. The thing that tears apart everyone around me is a demon. The thing that's always clawing at the back of my mind, wanting to emerge and tear you to ribbons is a demon.!"
Grazen cornered Janette and latched on to her throat for the second time since they met. Grazen's eyes were glowing red and his skin had also grown darker.
"Let's see if those angels of yours can fix a broken neck."
Grazen's hand began tightening around Janette's throat and he had a wicked smile on his face.
All of a sudden, Grazen's grip was wrenched from her neck as if some invisible force had pulled him off. Grazen gripped his head and stumbled backwards. He shouted in pain and fell to the ground. Grazen was breathing heavily as he sat up. His eyes had returned to normal and his skin had returned to its normal tone.
"I'm not a demon, you crazy bitch," Grazen said between breaths. "You're lucky I was able to contain it this time."

Brisinger987

((OOC: The following incident is something that I'm plotting for the sake of RotE, so please excuse how out of place it is. But it must happen))

Janette jerked back, and she let a small smile creep onto her face as he put his hand on her neck. She felt something screaming in her mind, but she didn't feel the same. She felt something else there. And then the voice of that angel drowned out suddenly.

Janette felt several other mental traits she didn't know she had flare up, and suddenly she was laughing, laughing at how she was about to have her neck broken.

"Do it. See what we do. See what we can do to you. Go on. We dare you...." He voice had doubled over, and something unnatural radiated from her during that brief moment until he released her.

"My head... What did you do to my head?!" Janette screamed at Grazen with a fury she had never felt before, feeling something whispering to her in her head. Little did she know that something had infected her. Something unnatural and evil.

Wicked Basket

"I just saved your head from being crushed by the beast inside me," Grazen said still panting. "You're welcome," he added sarcastically.
He did not recall the bizarre incident that had just occurred as he had been threatening her life because of the frenzy he had been in.

Brisinger987

She began to laugh hysterically for some odd reason, and then in the same second she unleashed a scream of rage, which faltered into terror. Then she screamed in rage again, and rushed Grazen, attempting to launch a punch at him.

It was a powerful punch, although her eyes were too clouded with tears of sorrow and hysteria to notice the unnatural yellow glow which was emanating from them. Although the presence of the second demon was certainly something Grazen would notice.
