Name: Cyrus Orchard
Race: Human
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Orientation: Loves the ladies
Residence: Uthlyn, where the money, girls, and gambling are good
Occupation: gambler/scoundrel/free-loader

Appearance:
Cyrus has a bit of a rugged countenance. A strong, square jaw is usually shadowed with dark, scratchy stubble that doesn't get grown out into a full beard, but also can't seem to manage to be shaved away every day either. He has an almost elegant brow, with dark hair falling into deep, emerald eyes. Luxurious hair the color of fine chocolate sticks out in all directions, the rebellious, bouncing curls refusing to be tamed; the dark locks were inherited from his exotic mother who is half Essyrni.

Overall his face has an appealing, roguish cast, with a decidedly mischievous glint to his dark green eyes, eyes that he shares with his father and three half-siblings. His greatest facial feature has to be his smile, though. Cyrus has a simultaneously disarming and guilty smile that has gotten him out of trouble with women all his life.

Unlike most Connlaothians, he isn't short and blocky; he doesn't have the normal broad shoulders or barrel chest like his father. Instead Cyrus boasts a tall, lean, well-trimmed figure with a narrower torso than typically found in his birthplace. He can thank his mother for that. He can thank his father for his well-conditioned muscles from years of military training and service. While his skin is not quite as pale as his prominent Connlaothian genetics, it is far from the creamy mocha of his mother. Rather it has a healthy sun-kissed glow to it.

Personality:
People are complicated creatures with complicated emotions, morals, and ethics. To try to put a label on a person is really trying to simplify that which really can't be simplified without losing sight of the true picture. If you truly want an overreaching archetype to put Cyrus under: he's an antihero. There, I said it.

At the core of his being, Cyrus is a good person. He doesn't like to see others hurt or suffering. While he is quite the sinner any way you look at it, being a truly bad person isn't in him. Yes he is lazy. Yes he loves to drink, smoke, gamble, and womanize; preferably all at the same time when he can. That doesn't make him a bad person does it? He certainly doesn't think so. Sure, he might not be a great role model, but bad? No.

Ask Cyrus and he will unabashedly inform you that he is a coward. Putting himself in danger for any reason is just stupid. People that choose to run around fighting evil and saving helpless damsels are stupid. Be a coward, you'll live so much longer. Despite his adamant insistence of cowardice, he seems to have a talent for heroics. Those same people he insists are stupid reflect within himself and his refusal to stand by when good people are in trouble. Although he will inform himself over and over how stupid he is being.

History:
Cyrus has had a bit of an interesting life. On the one hand, his mother is a whore that works in one of Uthlyn's famous brothels. Having such a mother wouldn't normally lead a man very far. Like all young men he'd have been illiterate, drafted, and probably have spent his entire career as a soldier without even owning land. However, he had a bit of an edge over other children of the lower class; mainly the fact that his father isn't lower class at all.

Cyrus is the son of the highly respected Duke Micah Coleridge. Not that this is a widely known fact, and it is certainly not brought up in polite society. While his father never publically acknowledged him, Cyrus did receive a lot of benefits from his father's station and influence. Micah arranged tutors for him, so that he could read and write, learn history, the arts, and a multitude of subjects that he would not have been able to study otherwise.

As soon as he was old enough, he began training with the military. He took to riding and horses particularly well. He knows about his three siblings, including his younger brother, Gabriel. His half-siblings don't show much interest in knowing him, or perhaps they weren't told about him, his sisters, anyway. Gabriel at least knows about him, as they happened to train together at one point, briefly. They had to be reprimanded for fighting and Cyrus was transferred to another unit.

The brothers are in a bit of competition when it comes to their military training. Gabriel has the benefit of being a legitimate son of a duke, which put him in line for officer training, but birth can't always outshine pure talent. Cyrus is simply a better swordsman and rider, even without trying. He will grudgingly admit that his little brother does outshine him in strategy and certainly politics. His brother was raised to navigate the slippery slope of nobility. Cyrus would rather just have some fun. Besides, he's better than his brother in the most important thing of all: the ladies.

Skills, Abilities, and Magic:
Cyrus is a good rider and deadly with a sword in his hand.
He's a smooth-talker, cheap hustler, and all around scoundrel. That counts right?
No magical abilities to speak of unless being super lucky counts.

Relationships:
Mother: Darla Ghent
Father: Duke Micah Coleridge of Orchy
Half-siblings: Evelyn, Gabriel, and Lillian Coleridge
