"Whoa!" Sachi gasped, jumping in surprise when Maako was suddenly way close, close enough his breath tickled her ear and neck. A shiver shot down her, making her tail floof, and she turned and swatted him away.
"We're good, man, we're good. We don't have to whisper anymore. Doubt the guards came over here yet. They're probably still scoutin' around the chaos. Just act natural." After all, acting all sneaky and whispery could sometimes attract more attention than just acting normal. Not that either of them looked normal, and especially not covered in shit.
Leading the way through the alleys, Sachi came to a stop beside a brick wall that served as the back of a tavern. Feeling around with her fingers, she finally nudged a loose brick and pulled it out, then reached into the space and pulled out a little bag that jingled as it moved. She shoved the brick back in place. It was one of her many stashes; she always made sure to spread out her treasures, and had several caches hidden throughout the city.
"This oughta be plenty. C'mon, let's see if this tavern lets us wash up, or if they kick us out for stinkin' up the place."
