There was nary a rock in the world harder and thicker than Addie's skull, but even she would admit she probably couldn't get through those doors by hitting them.
She frowned, backing up and trying to see the whole picture at once. Once she was about six feet from the doors, she heard the mechanical clunking of mechanisms-- and then the floor under her sank, just a bit, like she'd stepped on a pressure plate. Then part of the ground opened up, and a workstation with three pegs sticking up, a tattered notebook, and four flat stone discs on the far left peg.
