Sun. Why was it always the sun? He scowled ahead as he walked, his footsteps pounding the ground, his large boots leaving his imprints on the ground wherever he went. It wasn't that he didn't like the pleasant weather. But it wasn't normal. It wasn't suited to this location, no, really! This was way up North. Things should be cold and chilly up here, not warm. Hadn't it been cold last year? This season was definitely starting out as being uncharacteristic.

Okay, so maybe it wasn't always sunny out here. But it always seemed to be whenever HE happened to take a walk. Kotaku smoothed his hand back through his dark hair, finally taking the time to pause and take a good look around himself. He was near the bounty hunting section of town. He unwillingly shuddered. What was it about this place that made him feel so ill at ease?

Oh. Right. The fact that he was very likely one of the things those fellas over there prided themselves upon hunting. For them, he was fair game. Yet, how could that be? He reflected upon his life. He had been out looking for a job and had unknowingly signed himself up for the army. He'd suffered a shaky start before eventually ending up a decent soldier, one who would be willing to defend Connlaoth.

He looked around a bit, scratching his head with a gauntleted hand. He was dressed in traditional soldier garb. Even on his time off, he didn't mind wearing it. He was comfortable in it.

Still. What a mess, thought Kotaku, only able to shake his head at the irony of it all.

"It's too bright"
She thought to herself, squinting her blue eyes up at the sun that shone far too brightly for a place this far north. She had expected it to be colder, perhaps even snowing at this time of year, and so regretted that she had wrapped herself up far too warmly. From her perch above the city she unfastened her cloak and left it hanging over a branch; after all, in a large oak there was little storage space besides the wood work. Brushing a strand of her dark brown boyish hair behind a pointed elven ear she turned her attention back to the city. After surveying the steets for a few minutes she came to a few conclusions: A) The people looked quite poor, B) Some looked quite Shifty, C) The streets were remarkably clean.
Upon deciding to have a look around Dana nimbly jumped from the tree, landing gracefully like a cat. She straightened up, the impact hadly denting her stance as she stepped made her way through the large gates into Reajh.

"Do y'want any shoes miss??"
"Can i intrest ya in some quality fish??"
"GOATS! Get ya GOATS here!!"

Being bombarded with people left right and centre was not one of her favourite past times,
"Runaway!!"
She thought frantically, diving for freedom down an alley way, slipping through the streets until she came to a deserted passage way. Looking over her shoulder she sighed in relief at being alone.

"Well well well, what do we have here?"

A loud male snorted from the shadows, followed by a chorus of chuckles as 5 large men stepped out into the light. A shiver raced down her back as they approached her, their laughs carrying through the streets...

((occ: sorry, having a damsell in distress moment :p))

It wasn't such a busy day compared to usual, he reflected. Maybe to visitors it would seem like such, but to an established resident like him, this was nothing. He sighed and browsed the markets, finding a certain lack in variety. Magic. It lacks color and magic, he thought. No enchanted boots here! No potions infused with the stuff. Nada. Nothing.

And certainly, it was his business to bust such stands if he found them. He snorted derisively, scratching his head. Despite the shouts for attention, to him, everything was quiet. Kotaku yawned. Boooo-ring. He glanced at the birds sitting in a grand tree nearby, making his way to them. I wonder what they are conversing about today? he thought, smiling. He could hear the winged creatures chirping. One chick wanted a worm that was destined for her brother; the other was disputing a recent meal.

An odd times for chicks, he thought randomly. Especially here up North. Oh well. Maybe they'll live the winter to brave the spring.

While he technically had a day off from training, Kotaku was, technically, still on duty. Which was why, just as he was nearing the tree, he sprang when he heard the telltale laughter of a group of ..what.. thugs? He couldn't be sure, though he'd just barely heard (thanks to some extra selective hearing, tuning out most of the market) the "Well well well.. What do we have here?"

"Come with me," he said quietly, and to anybody who'd been paying attention, it would seem as if the soldier were talking to himself. Well, what did he care what they thought of the army? They weren't important at the moment. Besides, they'd have been too busy watching him to notice an adult bird couple taking flight following the words.

He pursued the sounds of wicked laughter, only to find a group of men seemingly closing in on somebody. From what he could see, a woman. Those filthy... The rest, due to Kotaku's rather expansive military vocabulary, would have to be censored.

"Hay!" He called with a sharp tongue and narrow eyes. "Step away from the lady," he said, keeping his cool and his calm. True, inside he was appalled and outraged at such behavior. But outside? Ever the epitome of a collected soul. "If you know what's good for you," he added after a while, the slightest of smiles creeping to his face. It gave him a shady look.

One hand rested on the handle of a gun resting at the left of his belt. The other, while presently loose, could easily whip out the sword strapped to his back. While he was leaner than the 5 men, in his mind he was smarter and stronger. After all, he had magic on his side, and he was a part of the military. True, they outnumbered him (and the woman, if she knew how to fight), but this was just one of those times where his cocky side decided to show. He would, of course, proceed with more of a wary approach should they not step down, but he would think about that later.

((Sorry for the wait.))
