Lukas had encountered many strange things since his banishment. He has seen all kinds of creatures of various shapes and sizes, carnivorous plants, and pointless wars. People were barbaric, ignorant, unaccepting of things they don't understand. They fear the unknown, because they fear that the unknown may result in the loss of everything they hold dear. Lukas had lost everything he held dear in his banishment, and is now stuck walking amongst humans and their mortal toils. Since then, he has gotten into quite an interesting predicament himself.
At the moment, Lukas was stuck with an Akrid by the name of Sheilas. After having agreed to be her mate to avoid being killed by two individuals that she had turned on him, she was now taking him to her home, her hive. Lukas had no idea what to expect, but it probably involved a significant number of giant bugs. He had never had a problem with bugs before, but now he was stuck with one and, as if it couldn't get any worse, was going to have to have children with one. If he refused, he would probably be killed, which would completely dash any chances of ever returning home. This was his new life, and he would have to accept it.
"How much farther," Lukas asked Sheilas. "You've been saying we're almost there for the last half-hour."
"Quit being so lazy we're almost there." Sheilias informed Lukas before sitting down under a tree. "Im tired can we rest Lukas?" She whined
Lukas sighed as she informed him that they were almost there for the umpteenth time that day. When she asked if they could rest he simply responded by plopping down next to a tree. They had been walking for quite awhile. Lukas was used to long walks, so it wasn't anything he wasn't used to. What he wasn't used to was being stuck with Sheilas even though he had been with her for about a week now. He was still debating on whether or not death would have been a better option.
"Luukaas, I'm tired, can you set up the tent?" She asked.
Lukas sighed and begrudgingly got to work setting up the tent. He obeyed Sheilas not out of loyalty, but because she would keep whining until he did what she asked. It didn't take Lukas too long to set up the tent, and it was up in about five minutes.
"Anything else, your highness," Lukas asked sarcastically.
"Would appreciate a bedtime story." She replied as she crawled into the tent.
"Once upon a time......the end," Lukas replied sitting on a nearby rock.
"That was a horrible story, are you gonna be this rude when you meet my dad?"She asked as she shifted portions in the tent.
"Maybe," Lukas replied. "What do you want from me? I don't know any stories."
"Well then tell me why you're so grumpy all the time." She replied as she poked her head through the opening of the tent.
"If you lost everyone and everything you ever cared about all in one day without even getting to say goodbye, you'd get a bit grumpy too."
Sheilas let out a low grumble and went back into her tent "You're no fun."
Lukas merely shrugged at her response.
"That's just how life works sometimes."
"Lukas, why are you here?" Shelias asked as she stuck her head out of the tent again.
"It seemed preferable to getting killed by an imp or whatever it was," Lukas replied.
"Good enough answer, so what are you gonna do once you become king?" She asked laying on her back.
That caught his attention.
"King? What do you mean king?"
King? He was going to be king? of bugs? That was not what he signed up for, but it seemed that it is now what he was stuck with. He couldn't be a king. He did have leadership experience, but even then he was following orders. He was used to following orders not giving them. There was no way he could be a king, especially to a completely different species.
"Yeah your going to be a king, what about that is hard to understand?"
"How can I be king of a people and species that I know nothing about?"
"How am I supposed to know, just ask my dad when we get there"
"What if your dad doesn't like me and decides to eat me or something?"
Not that he would mind too much if that happened.
"Then Ill eat hime first silly." She giggled as she tapped his nose.
"Of course," Lukas said rolling his eyes and sighing. "Why didn't I think of that."
"Because you're stupid and make very stupid decisions." She answered looking up at him.
"That's for sure," Lukas muttered.
It was some stupid decisions that got him in this mess in the first place.
"I am glad we are in agreement." She said with a smile. "If you would please enter the tent, it is cold outside, and i need to cuddle for warmth."
Lukas sighed and made his way into the tent. He removed his sword and laid it on the ground next to him and simply sat there on the floor of the tent, sighing deeply.
"Quit being so pissy," Sheilas demanded nuzzling up under Lukas' chin "it makes me feel guilty."
"You should after all you did to me," Lukas replied not moving.
Sheilas sighed "I thought we went over this before I let you leave you stayed you can't be mad at me for that anymore, it's not fair."
"Oh yes I can," Lukas retorted. "You lied to them and they tried to kill me because of you. I don't see how you're not to blame for all this."
"Oh, I'm Lukas, I'm so sad and grumpy all the time because I have a shitty past and won't get past it. Now my mate with grade A tits always has sex with me and tries to be nice but I always whine and bring up some midget with superpowers and his pyromancer wife or what ever, my life is so shit right now!" Sheila's imitated in a whiny, high pitched voice
Lukas anger boiled over. He pushed Sheilas off of himself and slapped her across the face.
"Is this all a joke to you," he roared. "Don't you ever take anything seriously?! Is this all just a game to you?! Am I just some toy to you?! Well I've got news for you, you crazy bitch! I'm am no one's plaything! You will treat me with respect, or you can go home and explain to everyone how you failed to find a husband! Do I make myself clear!"
Sheila's felt her cheek then began crying, "I-I'm sorry Lukas," She sobbed into her hands "you're right, you're totally right, I don't respect you enough. She apologized as she wiped tears from her face " I hope that you can forgive me." She pleaded as she bowed her head.
Lukas was silent for a moment before speaking.
"I'll think about it."
He then laid down and turned on his side, his back facing Sheilas. If there was one thing he didn't want to do right now, it was look at her.
Sheila's sat in the corner in silence, whimpering softly.
Lukas didn't move as he thought about the situation he was in and replayed in his mind all the events that led him to this point. It wasn't fair. He had been manipulated. Not only that, but taken advantage of too. The more he thought about it, the more he wanted to murder Sheilas in her sleep. The problem was if he killed someone in cold blood there would be no hope of ever returning home, not that there was a particularly good chance in the first place. Lukas sighed. What was he supposed to do now?
(OOC: umm, what exactly is happening now? I can't really respond to silence when my character is being silent as well.)
(OOC I don't really know, but I can't really think right now. Something crazy just happened and I need some time to think and sort things out.)
(OOC: crazy in real life, or are you referring to the thread?)
(OOC In real life. Everything just got turned upside down for me. :( )
OOC: You don't need to thread with me if it's really serious or important then, you are not obligated. If you need to take some time for personal stuff to ahead we can thread at a more comfortable time.
(OOC No, no it's fine. I suppose we could just have Lukas and Sheilas fall asleep and time skip 'til morning or something.)
Sheila's awoke with an audible yawn and looked over at Lukas. She decided not to wake him and went out to prepare breakfast and get some clean drinking water.
"NOOO!"
Lukas awoke covered in sweat and breathing heavily. Another goddamn nightmare. He buried his face in his hands and tried to catch his breath. He looked over and saw that Sheilas wasn't there. Good. Hopefully she hadn't heard.
Sheila's was stood outside the tent as Lukas woke. "A-are you ok Lukas?" She asked.
"I'm fine," Lukas said not taking his face out of his hands.
She let out a loud sigh "you're distracting me from making your suprise, so don't shout unless you need me to go all ape shit but mode." She said through the canvas.
"Yeah, sure," Lukas replied with a sigh.
He then briefly wondered what kind of surprise she could be working on, especially after how he had blown up at her last night. It was probably just something to butter him up and make him like her, but there was no way in hell that was going to happen.
"Okay, here's half of your surprise" Sheilas said as she left a tray of breakfast outside of the tent. On the tray was a large glass of milk, a large assortment of hand prepared meats, and a small dish of unfiltered river water. "Don't drink the water she added as she walked away to leave Lukas to his business.
When Lukas poked his head out of the tent, he had to admit that he was surprised. Where had she even gotten all of this from? Lukas simply shrugged and started eating. He almost never got to eat food like this. The thought that it was poisoned didn't even cross his mind. She needed him alive. There was no reason for her to kill him.
Suddenly, a face appeared on the dish of water, it had a pale face with silvery white hair. "But do I really have to?" He pleaded with an unknown figure. He let out a long sigh. " I'm sorry I tried to murder you, melon fucker." He said feciciously. " There, happy now?" He said to the figure in the background. "Ow!" He said as a hand gripped his small pointed ears " I'm sorry.. Lukas." He mumbled as if mentioning his real name physically hurt him.
Lukas nearly choked to death when the water started talking. The water also held the face if that annoying imp.
"How is this even possible," Lukas asked.
"I am not obliged to answer that. So, Chao" he said as his face dissipated from the water. Sheilas' face took his place. "Hi." She said hopefully.
Lukas had had enough and smacked the water dish off the tray, spilling it all over the ground.
"I've had enough of that," Lukas said. "What kind of surprise even was that?"
Sheilas frowned and began walking back to their camp. Upon her arrival she put out the fire and packed her things. "I'm going." She said as she began to walk away.
"Going where," Lukas asked.
It wasn't that he cared where she was going, it was just kind of unusual. Then again, this whole thing was rather unusual.
"To the hive," She muttered. "Alone."
"I thought you weren't allowed to return unless you had husband," Lukas replied. "Or were you just saying that to guilt trip me?"
"I'd rather be disowned and shunned than deal with this" She said gesturing to Lukas. "I try to be nice but all you've done is hurt me"
"Well that would've never been a problem if you haven't..."
Lukas stopped mid sentence as he thought everything over. She was right. Despite her initial underhanded trickery, she had been nothing but nice to him. Lukas felt a feeling of remorse wash over him.
"They were right," he said softly. "I am a monster."
Upon hearing these words Sheilas rushed to Lukas "Dont say that." She demanded squeezing him tighter.
"It's true," Lukas told her. "You just don't know why."
"Tell me then."
Lukas sighed deeply.
"A long time ago, there was this small village in the woods. They were proud, hardy folk. However, they lacked faith in my master. Being Captain of the Guard, I saw it as my duty to steer them onto the right path. Instead listening to me they insulted me and blasphemed my master. I became so angry with them. They had no faith and no respect, so I....I...."
Lukas choked up as a tear began welling up in his eye.
Sheilas tightened the hug even more. "Next time, just tell me okay? You don't have to hide these things from me." She whispered into his ear.
"I killed them," Lukas said the tear beginning to roll down his cheek. "I killed them all. Men, women, children; none were safe from my wrath. I slaughtered them all and burned their village to the ground for their ignorance and lack of faith. When I returned home, I was immediately told to leave. I've never seen home since."
Tears fell from his eyes, but he was not completely crying. Not yet anyway.
"I'm fairly certain you won't do it again, so can.. can we get moving, were gonna lose daylight."
"I can't do it again," Lukas told her. "All my power was stripped from me when I was banished. I am nothing now."
Lukas stood and began taking down the campsite so that they could get moving again. He just wanted to busy himself to take his mind off of things.
"If you don't feel like talking," Sheilas spoke quietly as she walked towards Lukas "We can always.." She trailed off, her hands feeling up his chest.
Lukas sighed sadly.
"I don't know if I can," he told her. "I'm too depressed."
"But it'll cheer you up, promise."
"Do what you want with me," Lukas told her. "I don't care."
Sheilas frowned, "That's not sexy at all, we should just keep packing then."
Lukas silently turned around and went back to work. The campsite was all packed away in no time and they were ready to head off once more. Lukas, however, was still very obviously depressed and inconsolably bummed out. Both the memories of what he had done and how he had been treating Sheilas were weighing heavily on his mind.
OOC: I'm gonna do a time skip here
After two days time they had finally reached Salidia's home. Contrary to popular belief, Hive Sentinel was for the majority, over ground. So upon their arrival, they were greeted by warm beaches and bustling coastal cities. From a distance one could not really tell, but almost everyone was discreetly looking at Lukas and Sheilas. Everything went quiet as they reached her father's palace, and the silence was soon replaced by mumbles and whispers. "Well, here we are." Sheilas said with a shrug.
The Hive actually looked a lot more like a city than Lukas had thought. Since they were giant bug things, he figured that it would look more like a bee hive or an ant hill or something.
"It's not exactly how I thought it would be," Lukas commented.
"Shall we go insidd then?" She replied opening the doors.
"Might as well," Lukas replied. "Ladies first."
