Spirits of the Earth

Oh, such a bother, all of this was.

Of all the things Stygia was not enjoying right now, it was the weather. She was in her fully human form, walking down the streets of the wealthy part of Ketra, hiding from the heavy snowfall beneath a black velvet parasol.

She was on the hunt for a young, succulent little nobleman, and she was dressed to kill, as well. As always, Stygia was the model of fashion, with a tight, red dress that really made her curves pop and her obsidian hair curled just right so it bounced on her shoulders oh so energetically. Her fair skin wasn't powdered, however, since that was the one thing she never really liked.

And so she walked on through the streets, hoping to come across some kind of prey. Preferably the kind who'd invite a cold beauty such as herself into their home...

There was a ball--which she had learned was just a fancy word for party--going on in the noble district, and parties generally meant free alcohol and revelry. Tanith had heard the news earlier that day, for it was rather the talk of the town, and it had piqued her interest, so she asked about it and was...told someone like her couldn't attend? That it was apparently only for a special group of people?

Bullshit.

That only made her want to go more. What was so special about these people, anyway? She was a motherfucking dragon! These Adelans were supposed to worship her kind!

And so she'd tracked the place down and marched up to the gates where a group of guards were checking parchments the guests presented them. She certainly stood out among the other guests; they were all in fancy, expensive clothes while she wore her usual breeches and tunic, with an ankle-length coat pulled on to keep warm in the snowy weather, the hood covering her horns. As she approached the guards, pushing past the other guests (with much protesting from them!) and straight to the front, they looked up in bewilderment and she saw several hands settle on the pommels of their swords.

"Is this the ball?"

"Do you...have an invitation?" one guard asked, while the guests standing around her spoke amongst themselves, complaining of her rudeness.

"The paper thing? No."

"Then I can't let you in. Be off with you, now."

"What do you mean you can't let me in?"

"No invitation, no access. Be gone before we throw you out. Next!"

"Do you have any idea of who I am?" And Tanith, who had been slouching with boredom, drew herself up to her full height then, squaring her shoulders and flexing her fingers, her lip curled in a derisive, fang-baring snarl. Her hood fell back.

And the man paled as his eyes followed her, taking in her sheer height. It wasn't really her size alone that startled him, though--it was her curling ram's horns, the way her fangs flashed when she spoke.

In seconds, he and the other guards had their weapons drawn from their scabbards. "No, we don't, now be off with you before we throw you in a cell!"

"What?" she growled, bristling. "But I'm a dragon! You're supposed to fucking love me. Or something. This is...this is gross misconduct, I'm sure!"

She could make a scene. She could. She could take those squishy human guards and show them what for, each and every one of them, in this form alone! But there were a lot of people around, a lot of unarmed people staring at her in horror, and though she wanted nothing more than to throw down with these bastards--she did always make a conscious effort to avoid collateral. There were too many squishy, unarmed humans around to take the risk.

She let out a huff.

"Fucking whatever. I didn't wanna go to your stupid ball anyway. The name's dumb."

And so, turning on her heel, she marched with a huff away from the stupid guards and their stupid ball, chose a random road to start down--

And as she whipped around a corner too fast, like an angry bull on a mission, she went crashing right into another body.

With a jolt of surprise, she reacted automatically, hands shooting out to stabilize them both as she scooped the other woman up before she could knock her to the ground, catching her in a sort of clumsy dip and staring down at her, blinking as she took in her pale features, dark hair--

And the unmistakeable scent of dragon.

Stygia frowned. No dinner as of yet, no sources of excitement. She lamented that she wasn't able to attend the ball. A magnificent presence such as hers surely wouldn't be unwelcome, but...well...

It was kind of hard to get an invitation, seeing as how she lived in a ruined castle off in the Adelan wilderness. She still found herself trawling that area, though. It'd be rife with nobility, all gathered up in one part of town. Sooner or later she'd run into somebody she could wink out of an invitation, right?

Run into someone she did. Or rather, someone ran into her.

Stygia let out a squeak quite unfitting of her true nature, and began to pitch backwards, when she was caught, and held in a dip. Her hands had instinctively gone to the shoulders of the one who'd bumped into her. Stygia could unmistakeably smell the dragon on this woman.

She could see the horns in her hood, too, but that was besides the point.

Instead, she played the flustered game, for now. She brought a blush to her cheeks, and just sort of stared right back up at Tanith.

"Oh, eh...excuse me?" she said, half-smiling innocently.

With a small jolt of surprise, because it just wasn't often she ran into other dragons masquerading as humans, Tanith blinked back down at her.

Not only was she a dragon masquerading as human, she was a pretty one, too. And when the woman blushed all prettily (how did some humans do that?! She always felt like a bloody unflattering tomato when her human form did that!) and excused herself, Tanith, for a few seconds, forgot she was supposed to be saying or doing things. Probably.

"Uhhhh."

Probably something other than holding her in a dip and staring at her dumbly?

Lifting the woman, who turned out to be even taller than her, Tanith set her back on her feet and brushed some snow flakes from her shoulders. Wasn't she cold in that dress? Then again, maybe this one ran hotter. Fire, unfortunately, wasn't Tanith's element.

"That's fine," she said, and straightened out her own coat. "I knocked you over, after all. Fucking human bastards got me all riled up so I just--" She clenched her fists. "Can you believe they wouldn't let me in their stinking party? Even pulled weapons on me! What the fuck."

Stygia smiled quite nicely when Tanith straightened her up and brushed some snow off of her shoulders. Adjusting her parasol so she was shielded from the falling snow, Stygia shivered slightly.

"I'm sure it wasn't that much of an exciting party, anyways. Who're they to deny a dragon a little excitement? It must've been boring if they didn't want someone like you there." Stygia concurred, giving Tanith a good sizing up. She turned in place a little, glancing down the alleys around them, using it as an excuse to give Tanith a good view of her from the side.

Stygia's piercing red eyes locked onto Tanith's, and she smiled, giggling slightly.

"What are the odds, hm? Two dragons, wandering the streets, looking for excitement..."

"RIGHT?!" Tanith threw her arms up with a huff, quite glad to have someone around to validate her! "Such utter bullshit, but you're right. They probably couldn't handle a bloody dragon, the fuckers. I wasn't really that interested, anyway. I just wanted the booze. And food. Parties usually have free food."

Letting her arms drop back down, she shrugged. "Hmph, well, maybe this was supposed to happen. I met another dragon this way, so whatever. What are you doing over here? Were you trying to get in, too?"

Stygia's eyes never left her new...soft spoken friend. She was quite attentive, but inattentive at the same time. She looked like she was on the lookout for something, although she was quite passive in that regard.

When Tanith finished, Stygia nodded.

"Yes, actually. I was in town, and I was looking for an invitation. Or rather, a young nobleman carrying an invitation. It seems I'm quite late, though."

She twirled her parasol idly, eyes going up and down the street.

"I'm going to go get some wine. I know a place that's got amontillado to kill for. Care to join me?" she asked, batting her eyelashes.

Tanith gave the other woman a look, eyebrows raised and head slightly cocked, a "did you even have to ask" sort of look.

"I'll go wherever the booze flows," she said. "I could use it after today. I fucking swear, the initiate that tried to impress me today? Fucking idiot. She's got no business being near a dragon. I could smell her fear for miles, and she babbled like a dolt. Such a waste of time." She shook her head, long braid swaying, and fell into step beside the woman.

"Then there was the usual rules talk. Like I don't already know. I'm not an idiot. But whatever. I'm done. Letting it go. Hey, what's your name, anyway?"

"Stygia, dear. Call me Stygia."

Perhaps there was still some sport to be had in all this. It'd been a while since she'd preyed on other dragons. Too much effort to kill, really. There was usually so much that could be derived from them, really, that killing other dragons was more of a waste.

Of course, this never stopped her from getting hungry, and killed other dragons she has.

"Although, it's usually the scared ones that are the most fun. Although, I'm not sure she was without reason, you look--" Stygia sized up Tanith quite quickly, eyes flashing over the rowdy dragoness' figure.  "--fierce. Indomitable."

"The scared ones are fun?" Tanith repeated, giving Stygia an odd look that was half scowl, half disbelief.

"I don't know about that. I don't really find it fun trying to hold a conversation with someone who can't get a fucking word out without stuttering. It's annoying." Of course, Tanith's idea of fun wasn't intimidation, exactly. She liked putting someone in their place when they were being obnoxious and stupid, but there was little she hated more than spinelessness.

Still, she puffed out her chest at what she considered to be a compliment. "Of course, they're not wrong to be nervous. A little healthy respect is a good thing. I'm Tanith, by the way."

"A pleasure, Tanith."

Stygia directed her eye at her as she walked, brushing some of her hair out of the way. She pursed her lips slightly, giving her parasol another bored twirl.

"I feel I need to reiterate, slightly. Obviously, the blubbering cowards are no fun. It's the ones that try to be brave, but are still visibly afraid that are amusing," she said, giggling slightly at that.

"Say, you're with the dragon knights, right?"

Now that was something Tanith could get down with. The ones with all their false bravado and forced swagger were just hilarious.

But Stygia's question jerked her mind away from that topic, and her grin broadened. "Ooh, good guess. Hah, yeah, I sure am! And I'm guessing you're not, since I've never seen you before, and since you look kinda..."

She flicked her eyes over the woman, a quick but thorough look that took her in head to heel. She arched both brows. "Well, you're kinda dressed too sexy for that. Not that us dragon knights aren't sexy. I sure fucking am."

Stygia was waiting for a compliment, and when she did, a perfectly applied false blush appeared on her face, and she demurely took her eyes off of Tanith.

"Why, I appreciate the compliment," she said, smiling lightly.

It'd stopped snowing by this point, so Stygia furled her parasol back up, and held it to her abdomen.

"You are correct in that regard, though. I'm not really from around here, you see. Civilization, I mean. I'm a wild dragoness who happens to have a certain...interest in civilization. And, if I may supplement you claim..."

Stygia's eyes met Tanith's.

"You are pretty sexy."

She stopped walking, just as they came across a fancy-looking tavern.

"This is the place. Shall we?"

"Oh my fucking gods, FINALLY!" Tanith said, pumping a fist. "Gods! Thank you! Thank you for being bloody normal about shit! Do you know how many human women lose their fucking tits when I pay them a compliment or hit on them a little? Just 'cause I'm also female?"

She snorted, casting a glance up toward her horns. "And 'cause I have horns. I guess. And sharp teeth, probably. But seriously, fuck! So many goddamned prudes. Apparently only males and females are supposed to flirt? Or something? Shit if I've figured it out."

Heading to the door, she pulled it open and held it for Stygia, waiting for her to enter first. "After you, m'lady."

"It might be horns, I think," Stygia said teasingly, as she approached the door, holding her parasol straight down so she could enter through the door. Of course, this form of Stygia's being the most human-looking, she didn't have her horns or teeth visible, but she could relate to that issue.

"Would it be so much to assume that you're hitting on me, Knight Tanith?" Stygia continued, as she passed by her and into the door, making sure to put a little extra sway in her hips as she did so.

"Uhh, I think it'd be safe to say there's no assumptions here, 'cause yeah, I'm totally flat out hitting on you," Tanith said as she followed Stygia in, making no secret to the fact that she was getting an eyeful of her ass. That tight dress hid little.

Niiiice.

As in all things, Tanith was about as subtle as a brick to the face. She didn't understand humans, and how they just danced around issues. If she liked someone, she said so. If she was flirting, she was pretty obvious about it. (Though so many people thought she was just joking? The fuck?) If they didn't like that, and told her so (or gave off body language that said as much), she backed off with no hard feelings. She was blunt, and expected others to be the same.

"Also, feel free to keep calling me that. I like that. Knight Tanith. Ser Tanith also has a great ring to it."

Stygia knew Tanith was slowly becoming putty in her hands, ever so slowly, and she made it her purpose to seem aware, yet ambivalent about it at the same time. After all, the best part about the hunt is the thrill, and the more build up to it, the better.

"I like your honesty, Ser Tanith. There are so many who would read a dull poem and speak flowery words to me," she said as she approached the bar and deposited her fine self down onto a cushioned stool. Her eyes flit up to Tanith, inviting her to sit by her side as she crossed her legs.

Of course, the invitation was unneeded, but Stygia liked the effect it usually had. Her body language had been leaning towards the positive, slightly more and more with each passing minute.

Tanith pulled a stool back with one hand and plopped down onto it. She rocked on the stool a bit, scooting it back up to the counter, and rested her elbows atop it. Manners were definitely not her forte.

"Yeah, I don't do the flowery shit," she said with a toothy grin. "Fuck, I think I'd punch whoever tried to pull that with me. That shit's obnoxious. Do people even like that stuff? Who talks like that?"

"The same prudes who...how did you word it? lose their tits when you flirt. That's who," Stygia smiled, giggling a bit more and putting on her own grin.

She reached onto the counter and authoritatively tapped on it with her nails, and the bartender approached.

"A bottle of the amontillado, please," she asked, and the bartender nodded before walking off to retrieve that.

Stygia turned to face Tanith more.

"So, do anything today apart from dealing with that cowardly initiate? Any redeeming factors?"

"Well, there was training," Tanith said, turning in her seat to face Stygia properly, without having to wrench her neck. She rested her cheek on her hand.

"You know, I kick real ass as a dragon, but this form? It's like learning how to fight all over again, like being a fucking hatchling trying to waddle about. I can still out-punch any human, though." Yeah, she was kind of bitter that she wasn't outmatching her human sparring partners when it came to swordplay. She was competent now, but she was no master.

"So yeah, there was training, the annoying initiate, then I got bored after all that business and heard about the party, so I came here...I'm still annoyed about that, too, but at least it had a good ending."

And she winked at Stygia as she said it, because shit, Stygia was giving her all the receptive signals, so maybe she had a chance!

"A good ending?" Stygia repeated, and she loosened up her posture a bit, a great sign for Tanith. The bartender appeared with the bottle of wine, and Stygia wasted no time in grabbing the bottle and coaxing the cork off of it. Two glasses were set down, and Stygia filled them both up to halfway.

She took a sip, smiling as it ran down her throat. Amontillado was no wine for prissies! It was sharp, bitter, and dry. Just how Stygia liked it.

"What I never understand, is why they insist on teaching a dragon how to fight with a sword. That sounds completely inane."

"Oh, there's a reason for that," Tanith said as she lifted her glass and took a draft of the wine, before she sipped some down. As far as booze went, Tanith was a heavy-weight with a steel stomach. The stronger, the better--because it took a damned good amount before she even felt it!

"Not all dragons are shifters, right? I'm one of 'em. Obviously. So I mean, shit, I can go some places and do some things I can't do in my full form. Like doors. I can go through fucking doors. I can go through doors as a full dragon, too, sure, but then I go THROUGH them, know what I mean? I wreck the door and the fucking house. What I'm saying is, they teach me how to fight in this puny form so I don't destroy the goddamned city. Use the least amount of force necessary to accomplish the goal and all that shit. If I don't need to be a full dragon, no need to be a full dragon. I can wreck my foe with my fists and a pointy blade."

Stygia listened attentively, nodding whenever appropriate. Her drinking companion here was quite the talker indeed!

"I don't know, it sounds like something you can get a human to do. But what do I know? I've never had to worry about collateral damage," she said, swishing the wine in her cup around. She'd sipped a few times from the cup now, a much faster drinker than she let on, given her slow, calculated demeanor.

"Yeah, well, you know what they say: you want something done right, you better do it yourself. Plus, you know, better than literally biting someone's bloody head off. I guess. That's rude or something, I dunno."

Tilting her head back, Tanith downed the rest of her wine in a single long gulp. She set her empty glass back down and flashed a sharp-toothed smile. "This stuff's fucking good. You got good taste, m'lady. Though that was already obvious, 'cause you invited me."

"Well, what can I say? I have a taste for the finer things."

Without breaking eye contact, she poured Tanith another glass, and she switched her legs over. She adjusted herself, and sat in a way that her chest was pointed out towards Tanith, and she was quite expertly pretending that she wasn't aware of the great cleavage view she was providing.

Tanith looked like she was about to reply, but her eyes dropped down to Stygia's bust instead, and she lost her words. Reaching for her wine glass, it took her several fumbled attempts to grab it, because she was trying to do it while studying Stygia.

Stygia may have been trying to be all subtle and suave, but that was definitely not Tanith's skill set.

Niiiiice.

She took a long gulp, managing to find her mouth somehow. "I can see that," she said. "Like that dress. You really make that dress...pop."

Of course, Stygia was playing with Tanith. After all, for a woman, Tanith acted strangely like a man, in a couple ways. It only meant it would be easier for her, of course.

Of course, she noticed her stare, and smirked at her, batting her eyelashes.

"I do? I've got to say, it's the first time I heard it phrased like that. And how exactly do I make this dress...pop?" she asked, placing a hand on her chest, right above her breasts.

"For one," Tanith said, and took another sip before continuing, still happily appreciating the view. "You're about ready to pop right out of that dress."

Stygia's eyes narrowed rather seductively, and she switched her legs back over again. She chuckled demurely again, and moved her hand back down to her lap. She finished off her glass of wine, and slowly licked the rest off of her lips.

"I had a feeling you'd say that," She purred, and stood from the stool, taking the bottle by the neck.

"Shall we finish this upstairs?"

"Uh, fuck yeah?" Tanith said, as though that were absolutely obvious, before she pushed the stool back with a loud screeching of legs against the floor. She rose to her feet, happy to cut to the chase. It had been a long and frustrating day--a long and frustrating week, for that matter!--so she was rather eager to blow off some steam with someone who got it.

Hopefully, if she was lucky, she'd get a lot more than sympathy and understanding!

Taking her glass, she finished off the remainder like it was a shot, bit back a burp, and offered Stygia her hand. "I hope you got some coin, 'cause I don't," she said. "But I guess if upstairs doesn't work, pffft, I dunno about you but I don't really care where we go."

"Coin?"

Stygia giggled, and turned around, passing a finger tantalizingly under Tanith's chin as she led the way without taking her hand. She made for the stairs, and an employee of the tavern made to stop her, what with her not renting a room and all.

The young man got within a few steps of her, before Stygia directed her eyes at him, and he just stopped, letting her pass without moving or saying anything else. His pupils were abnormally wide, a side-effect of Stygia's power.

"Who needs coin these days?" she said, looking back at Tanith and beckoning her up the stairs behind her.

Tanith looked at the man as they passed, her own eyes narrowing suspiciously.

That was...strange.

And Tanith was no fool.

"What did you do to him?" she asked as she followed Stygia up the stairs. It was more curiosity than anything, because the guy didn't look hurt--but still, even if some of the human rules were stupid and confusing, paying for shit (paying for everything!) was one of those basic rules she'd learned pretty quickly. This was stealing, wasn't it? And while Tanith was down with throwing her weight around, taking away someone's autonomy was one of those...

Not so gray areas.

But she didn't sound angry as she asked, because while she might have morals, she also had eyes, and her eyes were currently fixed on Stygia's rear.

"Oh, nothing too major, just...made him forget about us. He'll be right as rain, Tanith," Stygia said, obviously not as bothered by what she did as Tanith was.

And in the end, wasn't it pretty much harmless? They were only going to use the room for a bit, it's not like they were going to spend the night, or anything.

She reached the top of the stairs, and turned to face Tanith, looking down at her as she leaned rather invitingly against the wall.

"Of course, if you're not comfortable with my methods of appropriation, we can always go somewhere else."

"Naw, it's whatever," Tanith said with a shake of her head and a wave of her hand. "Damage is done and we're already here, so fuck it. Just don't do it again. With the controlling people thing. That's bad shit."

Once at the top of the stairs, she opened the door yet again and held it open for Stygia. There were a few human rituals she kind of liked, and this was one of those minor, silly ones: holding doors open for people. She didn't get it at first--why couldn't people open their own damned doors? But apparently it was a chivalrous thing or something, and while she only really noticed men doing it for women they liked, she didn't see why the fuck she couldn't do it. People seemed to like it alright, even if the men got a bit annoying about it and kept insisting she go when she'd opened the goddamned door for them, and then it was some sort of bloody standoff!

...Humans were weird.

She shot Stygia a sly look. "Though, by rights, I should probably punish you for that."

"Cross my heart. It won't happen again, Ma'am," Stygia said teasingly as she made an "X" shape on her chest, walking past Tanith and into the room. It was a rather plush affair, with such luxurious amenities as a couch with a coffee table, tray of wine glasses included.

She stretched her arms out, and waited for the door to close before turning to face Tanith, a mischievous smile planted firmly on her face. She opened the bottle of wine back up, and stepped over to the couch, lowering herself onto it. She allowed some of her disguise to fall away, revealing her rather large, magnficiently curling horns. She grinned, and her perfectly straight human teeth were replaced with perfectly curved fangs. Her pupils went from round balls to delicate, narrow slits, and they focused in on Tanith as Stygia patted the cushion next to her.

Tanith kicked the door shut behind her as she stepped inside, and she let out a low whistle at the posh setting.

"Nice digs," she said, and swiped a finger along the table as she took a seat next to Stygia. She rubbed her fingers together, finding the surface dust free (quite the change from some of the places she'd stayed in before!), and then leaned back against the couch with her arms resting along the backing. It was also an excuse to rest her arm behind Stygia. You know. Set herself up good for making a move later.

"Nice horns, too," she added with a grin, flicking her eyes over Stygia. "If you're anything to go by now, your true form must be fucking stunning."

"Oh, you just never relent, do you?" Stygia giggled, putting on another false blush as she poured them some more wine, handing Tanith her own glass as she sipped from hers.

"You must be quite the charmer with the other dragons..."

"Heh, yeah, well..." Tanith ran a hand through her silver bangs and crossed one leg over the other, ankle resting atop her knee, positively devouring the compliment.

"I sure do try! And sometimes," she said, walking her fingers forward until her hand came to rest lightly on Stygia's shoulder. "Sometimes, I succeed."

And with another wink, she took a sip of her wine.

Stygia's small smile grew slightly wider, and her body language shifted into something slightly more relaxed. She let her posture loosen up, and stuck out her chest a bit more. Stygia brushed a little more of her hair out of her face, and leaned slightly towards Tanith, placing her own hand just inches from her thigh.

It would be quite clear, even to someone like Tanith that the slow, sensual approach was the supposed key to Stygia's heart. Stygia took another sip, and laid her glass down on the table.

"And what would be your prediction for tonight, Ser Tanith?"

Her eyes beckoned Tanith to take the next step, and she licked the wine off of her lips again.

"I like to live in the moment, m'lady," Tanith said as she began to stroke the back of Stygia's neck with slow, gentle caresses, her fingers lightly playing with the hair there. "Never was a planner. Keeps things exciting, keeps my options open. And who knows? I might be surprised..."

Growing a little bolder, she ghosted her fingers up along the side of Stygia's neck, letting her sharp claws drag harmlessly over her skin. Her thumb trailed along her jaw before, finally, she cupped her chin.

"I do love surprises," she said, meeting Stygia's eyes and leaning in closer, licking her own lips. For a moment, it looked like she might kiss her--but instead she flicked her thumb over the corner of Stygia's lip and drew her hand back. Her tongue darted out to lick her thumb, and she grinned.

"You missed a little wine, there."

Stygia let Tanith touch her, closing her eyes and letting the sensations dominate her perceptions of the moment.

"Surprises..." Stygia murmured, before opening her eyes again. Gone was the human facade from those as well. They were now their normal color, a sharp and impossibly deep ruby red. She smiled, and her own hand crept up onto Tanith's back.

Stygia showed Tanith her fangs again, and her forked tongue slithered between them quite invitingly.

"Is there anything else I've missed?"

"I don't know," Tanith said, peering into Stygia's vibrant eyes, rich like gemstones to compliment her silver. She set her wine glass on the table to get it out of the way, done with that and quite ready to give the other dragon-woman her undivided attention.

Sweeping some hair back from Stygia's face, she tucked the strands behind the woman's ear and let her fingers tickle along the rim. "You look pretty damned immaculate to me, but, just to be absolutely sure..." She slipped a finger under her chin and tipped her face up. "I'd better double check."

And, silently congratulating herself for being so goddamned charming, she swooped in for the kill--or rather, for the kiss. Her lips met Stygia's fully, but she kept it rather soft and chaste with no tongue or teeth. She was still feeling the woman out, though she was pretty damned sure she was reading her signals correctly.

[And this is where I drop the Stygia bomb!]

Ah yes, their lips were so close. So very, tantalizingly close. Of course, Tanith still felt them, in all their luxurious softness, but there was something else.

An obstruction.

Namely, Stygia's index finger, planted firmly between the two, keeping them from kissing fully. Stygia pulled away, her finger remaining on Tanith's lips, and she chuckled teasingly, running her finger down Tanith's mouth and stopping it right at her chin.

"Ah, if only I could," Stygia said, a genuinely sympathetic look on her face. A predatory flash went through her eyes as she continued to peer into Tanith's.

"Unfortunately, I cannot leave my hoard unattended at night, but..."

Stygia leaned back in, giving Tanith another light kiss, before whispering into the dragoness' ear.

"There's a ruined castle, a moderate flight south of Ketra. My home."

She gently placed her hand on the side of Tanith's neck.

"Tomorrow night. Another bottle of amontillado. My castle. I'll be waiting, Knight Tanith..."

She stood up, giving Tanith one last wink before she left the room, leaving her alone.

Tanith visibly deflated, thwarted by a finger and bad timing! She was stunned, blinking owlishly at Stygia as she spoke, and when the other dragon left, she was left sitting there.

And wondering what the fuck just happened.

She touched her lips with her fingers, where the sensation of Stygia's soft lips still lingered. She could still smell her in the air even after the door closed...

With a huffed sigh, she finally rose to her feet to at least leave the damned room she was kind of illegally occupying, and resigned herself to making a trip out of Ketra tomorrow!

Stygia reverted back to her fully human form as she descended the stairs, giving the bartender a hypnotic wink before he could bring up her tab, and stepping back out onto the street. She stood in front of the inn, just taking in the air for a few minutes.

She transformed once she was on the ground, so she could actually enter the castle without having to worry about maneuvering about small corridors, and picked up the clothes she'd been carrying clutched in one claw. She slipped them on, then stepped inside.

The castle had a certain ruined beauty about it. It was constructed in old adelan style, so the ancient and sturdy walls still stood firm. Tattered, weather beaten banners hung from the walls, bearing the heraldry or an ancient adelan house, long forgotten by time.

Tanith would find the interior of the castle to be absolutely lavish, indicative of the kind of hoard Stygia had for herself. Priceless works of art and mounds of coins alike lined the corridors.

It would only be a short walk to the castle's main hall, which was refurbished and practically rebuilt to be a treasure hoard. It seemed Stygia was quite the powerful dragon indeed, if her hoard was any indication. Veritable mountains of treasure filled the room, although there was a path in it, leading to a clearing in the center of the hall.

In that clearing, there was a massive round basin, filled with an opaque and brightly glowing green liquid. It bubbled and frothed, like acid.

Stygia's scent was powerful here.

The castle was a sight to behold, rivaling even hoards in the Thunderblacks, and Tanith gaped openly at the sights around her as she walked. Stygia must have been building it for quite some time, which hinted to her age--which was surprising to Tanith, for she was a young dragon and had assumed Stygia was somewhere around her age!

She followed the faint scent of the other dragon, walking carefully along the path without disturbing any of the piled treasures. And as the scent grew stronger, she wound up following it to a basin.

A basin filled with strange liquid, and smelling strongly of the dragon.

Eyes narrowing, Tanith stepped closer and peered down into the liquid, not daring to touch it. It looked...ominous.

What the...?

At first, the liquid was still, reflecting Tanith's face back at her. However, after a good enough while, it started bubbling and frothing more intensely, as if something was emerging.

Stygia's snout was the first thing to emerge, until her head was completely out, snout inches away from Tanith's. Her features were strong, yet delicate at the same time. To be frank, she outshone her human form like this, especially when her obsidian scales glistened oh so exquisitely with acid.

"Knight Tanith, you made it."

Tanith jumped back from the basin when it started to froth and bubble, not wanting to risk getting any of it on her until she knew what it was!

But soon, a head emerged, and a body, and it was a dragon, a beautiful onyx dragon with scales any beast would kill for, and Tanith found herself staring in awe and appreciation.

Stygia was gorgeous. In both forms. And for a long moment she didn't answer as she drank her in fully--what she could see of her, at least.

Finally, she quirked a grin and shifted her weight to one leg. "Did you think I wouldn't?"

"Well, I had my reservations. I see now that they're completely unfounded," She said, floating up to the rim of the basin and holding onto it with her claws, almost like a woman seductively posturing at the edge of a pool. everything above the base of her neck was visible, and she made it a point to arc her neck in the perfect way.

Her tail appeared behind her, bladed and deadly, emerging from the acid to sway.

"I don't suppose you remembered that bottle of amontillado?"

"It's a shame, really. It was a hard detail to remember, though. I...Wasn't really expecting it."

"It wasn't that hard," Tanith said with a sigh as she watched Stygia curl around her. "I just got so fucking distracted. Uh. By you when you were talking and split back then, and today dealing with the usual shenanigans. Agh! It would've been so fucking good, too!"

She let her shoulders slouch, kicking at the ground. As much as she was loath to admit it, she wanted to impress the other dragon! And she'd gone and blown it!

"Well. Guess we'll just have to deal. So, uh, what's that stuff there?" she asked, pointing at the basin.

Stygia's eyes flicked over to the basin, and back to Tanith.

"Why, it's acid. Not too strong, though. It'll kill a normal human, but for dragons, it keeps the scales clean."

She moved her snout a bit closer, seemingly wanting to be pet.

"I'm an acid dragon. My species is very rare."

Taking the hint, Tanith grinned and reached out to stroke those scales, marveling at their smoothness. She stepped closer still so she could rub at the base of her horns and feel those, as well. Textures felt different under a human hand.

"I was going to say, I've never encountered one," Tanith said. "Acid, huh? I'm air."

"Air... Such a peaceful element," Stygia teased.

She closed her eyes, almost purring as Tanith pet her. She smiled, knowing she had her in the palm of her claw.

"Pleasant, and very versatile! So many people see it as this fucking weak thing, but they just don't get it. Air can tear trees from the roots, or caress you like a lover," Tanith said as she aptly demonstrated, her fingers feather light as they brushed over the scales along Stygia's cheek.

"It's adaptable and flexible. If something blocks its path, it flows around it--or through it, if there's just the tiniest space. And, of course, every bloody thing needs it to live. "It's an acquired taste," she said rather plainly as she stalked closer and closer to her prey, bare feet pat-patting against the cobblestone floor.

"But enough about the gritty details, I believe we had some unfinished business."

She took Tanith rather assertively by the collar, chuckling again as she licked her lips.

Prey was plentiful in the mountains, and it wasn't long before her keen eyes sighted a herd of long-furred goats picking their way along the sheer face of a cliff. "Did you bring breakfast?"

"So get up, lazy butt, before it gets cold! Don't make me tickle you. I'll fucking do it, I'm warning you."

Stygia pouted, and made a low whining sound, before she cracked a smile and sat up, practically bouncing up against Tanith as she stole away a kiss of her own. She looked down to where Tanith was straddling her, and then back to her eyes.

"You're going to have to get off me, then."

"Easy fix," Tanith said, and rolled off of Stygia so the woman had no more excuses. And then she took it a step further, grabbing the blanket's edge and yanking it down away from Stygia.

She offered her arm to Stygia, like a knight to a princess. "M'lady?"

Stygia wholeheartedly accepted Tanith's arm, looping one under it and placing her other hand on Tanith's bicep, further emulating the "Big strong knight escorting a lady" image.

"Oh, must you go so soon, Ser Tanith?" she said.

"Wish I didn't have to," Tanith said, huffing out a sigh. "But, you know, responsibility. It's sometimes a thing I have to do, even when I don't really want to."

She looked at Stygia and gave her a sly wink. "I'd much rather stick around and fuck your brains out again, believe me."

Stygia laughed, even if she didn't find that joke particularly funny.

She stroked Tanith's chin with a claw, and passed over her form with her eyes.

"Well, I'll be spending the day in a cave, up in the Thunderblacks. A spring..."

She ducked in and kissed Tanith.

"I take it you'll find me when you're done?"

"Do dragons shed their scales?" Tanith asked, and grinned broadly. "Uh, duh. Of course. Like I'd fucking pass up the opportunity to see you all glistening and naked! What kind of woman do you think I am?"

Stygia gave Tanith a demure smile. She was fairly confident that she had the dragoness wrapped around her little finger, and she relished the thought.

"Oh, you flatter me too much," Stygia said, bringing a little blush onto her cheeks.

"Bullshit. I don't flatter you enough," Tanith said, right as they arrived to Stygia's hoard room--and the place where she had stashed the goats. But the sweet, coppery smell of blood greeted them long before they reached the room, and Tanith beamed proudly as they entered.

"Breakfast is served, m'lady," she said, and raised Stygia's hand to her lips.

Stygia gasped softly, but a large smile quickly appeared on her face.

"Oh, you've brought me breakfast and everything! You're so chivalrous, Ser Tanith. Our romp left me starving..."

Stygia giggled, and trailed a nail down Tanith's cheek as she parted from her. She stepped over to the pile of dead goats, felt at the horns of the topmost one.

She grinned, and tore the goat's head clean off, displaying almost no effort in the act. She hosed the snout with a small spurt of acid, and the incredibly corrosive liquid immediately began to melt down the goat's face.

She took a gigantic bite, pretty much removing the goat's entire snout.

Acid dragons weren't known for their eating habits.

Huh. That was something else.

Tanith just watched Stygia for a moment as she ate, torn somewhere between disgust and awe. Awe because she'd never exactly met an acid dragon and it was morbidly interesting watching the process, and disgust because...she liked her meat meaty, not liquified. If she was going to eat a chunk of goat, she was going to eat it raw and meaty, something she could sink her teeth into and chew. She didn't want to eat goat slurry!

To each their own, she thought as she settled down beside her own goat and ripped a chunk from its thigh with her black claws. Blood dribbled down her chin and neck as she took a bite and chewed, eyes closing in pleasure as she swallowed down meat and iron-rich blood.

Stygia noticed Tanith's reaction, and after a few seconds of chewing, she swallowed and put her hand over her mouth.

"Sorry!"

She swallowed down the rest, and cleared her throat.

"I didn't freak you out, did I?"

"Eh?" Tanith looked at Stygia, blood dripping from her lips, and lifted an eyebrow. "You? Freak me out? Pfffft, as if. I've just never seen anyone eat quiiite like that."

She took another chomping bite of meat and waved her free hand dismissively. "Don't mind me, I just like my meat meaty more than liquidy. But everyone has their thing. Humans think this is weird, and I think they're weird to burn their meat."

"Well, I've had meat cooked and raw, as well. It depends on how its cooked, but sometimes meat tastes better when it's put to fire."

She took another fluid chunk out of the goat's head.

"Again, it really depends on how it's prepared."

"But if it's cooked, you miss out on all the blood," Tanith said. "And that's where all the good stuff is."

"Well, I'm not the biggest fan of blood, personally. It tastes good and all, but sometimes I just don't really fancy it."

Stygia shrugged.

"Personal taste thing, I guess."

"That's fair," Tanith said as she licked blood from her nails. "It is fucking messy as shit."

She finished off her portion of meat, then let out a sigh and pat her belly. "Ugh. Downside of this form: smaller stomach."

"Full's full," Stygia said.

"Besides, I'm not as big a girl as you," she added, and put her arms around Tanith from behind, pressing her breasts to her back.

Tanith indeed returned that night, and when she did, it was with friends.

There were two others with her, an older bronze dragon, Erashki, that was an old comrade-in-arms of Tanith's, and a small, young green dragon, Yulya, that still lived in Tanith's old Thunderblacks clan. Yulya visited the human places sometimes, but she had no interest in human politics nor in fighting for them, and so she had never gone on to become a dragon knight as others had. Fighting, in general, just wasn't her thing, and unlike Tanith and Erashki, her hide remained unmarred as a result.

Both were dragons she had, in the past, laid with. She and Erashki in particular had had many a wild time, and she often sought her out when she needed some companionship. It hadn't surprised her at all when Erashki had been down for another wild time, though she hadn't expected Yulya to agree when she'd suggested it; she was always a little more shy, and as far as Tanith knew, she'd never done something like this.

When Tanith led her friends into Stygia's inner sanctum, the obsidian dragonness wasn't immediately visible. Her smell lingered strongly in the area, however, and once Tanith and her friends had been present for long enough, her voice came echoing in.

"Tanith? Is that you I smell?" Stygia said as she strode in, always eager to show off her magnificience to strangers.

Even if they were strangers that she planned to kill for food. Their souls would be hers, and she'd get ever closer to her true goals...

She gave another shrug, idly scratching at her elbow. Stygia had said surprise her, and hadn't specified, after all!

"'Cause I mean if you want some big drake here, psh, I know these two go both ways. It's not like I'm opposed to having a male here, I just don't want him fucking me. I'm down with watching. Oh! Right! So! My friends! This is Erashki, and that's Yulya. We go way back. Yulya, Erashki, that's Stygia. Our lovely hostess."

"It's a pleasure to meet the both of you. I'm sure Tanith's already told you about our..." She trailed off, and glanced towards Tanith. She walked towards her, and gave her a deep kiss. She pulled away, eyes and fangs glittering.

Stygia giggled, and brushed some of her hair out of her face.

"A drake would be nice, yes. It's a bit late to get one, though..."

Tanith's lips were still tingling from Stygia's kiss, and she licked them as though she could still taste the dragon on them. Sliding in closer to her, she slipped an arm around her waist and pulled her in closer, an almost possessive gesture.

Catching her meaning, the younger, green-haired woman's skin colored with a warm blush, but she smiled nonetheless, flashing too-sharp teeth. "I could make a quick trip..." she suggested, and Erashki barked an amused laugh.

"She'll be back before she even leaves. 'Hey boys, there's a bunch of itchy females looking for some males to join 'em for some fun.' Yeah, that won't take long."

"Oh, if she could do that, why..."

Stygia broke away from Tanith, and walked to Yulya. She laid the tip of a claw on Yulya's chin, and passed her thumb over her lips.

"I'll be very grateful."

Her tail gave Yulya a quick spank, and she laughed.

"While she's gone, maybe the three of us can... Warm up?"

She supposed that the lumbering brute was going to do what he wanted regardless of what she'd say, so she plugged herself up. Instead, she gave enticing rolls of her hips against him as he pulled her in. She was hot and the animal was exactly where she wanted him and needed him.

"Behave!" She snipped, and she pushed his bitey snout away from her delicate neck. It showed she was strong, just as strong as he was, and if he had half a brain in him, the deadly look she gave him would let him know that the only reason he was getting it in was because she allowed him.
