Jy'aad could feel the heat of the sun being amplified through his chain mail shirt. As an archaeologist spending most of his time outside and on excavations, he expected that much. Walking around the site he was overseeing, he could see that the desert heat was getting to the workers, even though it was only noon. At this rate, we won't find anything! he thought, but he knew that the workers needed reprieve from the vicious heat.
Drawing one of his hook swords, he banged it against a nearby rock, trying to get their attention.
"Alright, that's enough for today. You can return to your tents if you please," he said, dismissing the workers to their nearby tents. Jy'aad then went to his own tent, large, and with a table on one side. Sitting down at the table, he looked over the map that lay unrolled on the tabletop, then looked outside at the half buried ruins that made up the site, making sure that the crew was where they were supposed to be. He sat back in his stool, and pulled out his journal, then started scribbling random notes and thoughts on a blank page....
