Iridescent

The last meetingplace was about a day of traveling away from the ruin where everything would eventually take place. The barn in which the final briefing would be given was old, worn down and surrounded by barren land and a small village could be seen in the distance, probably about an hour of riding away, if not more.
The barn was mostly empty, safe from some furniture that had seen better days. The only thing looking decent was the hatch in one of the corners of what used to be the living room. That hatch was still pretty well oiled and for good reason.
It hid a ladder that went into the cellar, where a few people had gathered. They were expecting a few more, but most were there.

The cellar was pleasantly warm, thanks to a hearth-fire that was steadily burning. The smoke wasn't really that much of a risk anymore; if an uninvited individual found them here, it wasn't the fire that gave it away. On top of this there wasn't all that much that could stop phase one.
Close to the fire sat a young, dark haired man, late twenties, not too tall, ears that betrayed elven ancestry, in gear that had seen it's fair share of damage. It was a balanced mixture of armor and warm clothes. His shoulders, chest and back were properly reinforced, but there wasn't all that much plate in it. Mostly mail, leather and thick layers of cloth. Corin Darbon spent a fair chunk of his time on horseback, so his gear complemented this. As protective as it could reasonably be, without becoming too much of a burden.
His furlined cloak was draped over the back of the wooden chair he sat on, enjoying a bit of roast meat and having a pleasant chat with the man who got most things done around here, Ignacio. His partner in crime would likely be here shortly and it'd be then that they would hear the final details of the plan.

"How are you feeling about all this?" Ignacio asked. Corin grinned.
"Pretty good. Should just be a quick enter and snatch," he answered nonchalantly. He knew that, as a battlemage, Fell was risky business, but he knew how to handle the sword that was dangling from his hip and was confident it would be a regular job, especially with two of them.
"Boss says it'll definitely be more than that," Ignacio said with a light shrug.
"Yeah, but there's a reason your boss isn't doing this himself, isn't there?" Corin shot back with a grin.
It was probably a good thing the hatch just opened and Corin's attention shifted, since Ignacio had been unable to keep the doubtful look away that briefly flashed on his face.

The pay was good, so there was that. Xala chewed on her lip, hesitant, not used to having a partner. Not used to having to deal with... eugh... people. Once inside, she was an interesting sight. Eyes adjusting to the different light, she blinked a few times and took in the sight. Two men, one of which she'd have to get used to to at least some degree and she walked over with purpose.

Closer to the light of the fire, she looked down at the pair with inhuman eyes. Pupils were wide, giving her an oddly innocent look and Xala pushed her messily cut hair from her shoulder. The scales on her cheeks glinted in the fire light. Licking her lips she gave a polite nod to Corin - he looked a little less sure, so she decided he was to be her partner.

"Sorry for being late, Gentlemen," her voice held an odd flanging to it, like it was two different voiced mixed as one. "We trust we didnt miss much?" Moved to stand off to the side, gloved hands at her side and looking curious at Corin. Might prove to be interesting, at least for a while. For now, Xala remained quiet and listened.

Corin looked up when a woman entered and he responded to her nod with one of his own and a friendly smile. He was an easygoing man; you could look like you came from another planet and he'd be chill with it, as long as you didn't create trouble.
She apologized for being late and Corin merely shrugged.
"No worries, you haven't missed a thing," he said. This was probably the kind of thing Ignacio should have said; it was his mission, so it wasn't really Corin's place to decide wether or not it was okay that she was late.
But Ignacio didn't seem too bothered by it.

"Well, I'm just glad the both of you are here," he said smoothly. "Have a seat, Xala." He looked from one to the other, his light eyes rather curious.
"Corin, this is Xala, Xala, this here is Corin. The two of you will be undertaking this mission together."
"Pleasure," Corin added. He had finished his snack and now he curiously looked from Xala to Ignacio. The latter stood up.
"Now, I know the both of you already know a few things, so I'll probably be repeating myself here and there, but for clarity's sake, let's start from the top," the man said.
"Sounds good."

"There's a specific ruin in the Fell, to which you'll be getting a map. A group of bandits has taken up residence in there with a stolen artifact, an amulet that cannot fall into the wrong hands at all."
Corin resisted the urge to point out it clearly already had. This was not the time for that.
"Your assignment is simple. Get that amulet and get it back here as quick as possible." His tone, however, said something else.
"There is a catch, isn't there?" Corin said with a slight frown.
"Despite all our precautions, there was a leak a few weeks ago. They expect someone. They just don't know who or when."
Corin nodded. Well, could've been a lot worse. It ruined the element of surprise, but he wasn't particularly stealthy anyway.

Draconian

Quietly she listened.

Take in all the information and then ask questions later.

Maybe.

For the most part, Xala kept to herself, after giving a nod to her newest companion but remained quiet. Seemed simple enough. Fell was kind of scary but... Simple enough. A roll of her shoulder and she smiled to Corin when he asked about a catch. Of course there was.

When wasn't there a catch.

"Well, good thing we're subtle," Xala quipped, voice teasing, smirk on her face. Obviously she stood out a little bit. The inhuman eyes, the bright red hair. The strange tattoo's on her lips and  chin and down her neck.

"Sounds simple enough though," She decided, moving to stand up and giving a small smile to Corin, "Nice to meet you," She said softly, hand out for a handshake. If he did grab her hand, he'd find it unnaturally warm - like she'd been warming it by a fire. Another strange trait of hers. "We look forward to watching your back, hmm?" A brief look to Ignacio and she nodded, "We'll be back in no time, though we hope you don't expect there to be no blood on it."
