"Finally home."
Unlocking the door to her office, Clarisse Aldenshine drunkenly stumbled inside. It hadn't been a good day- she didn't have those. The detective slumped into her chair, taking a deep breath as she did so. There had been a commotion at the palace tonight- some kind of death, possibly foul play. Even the regulars at The Sleazy Viper had been gossiping about it, which meant that Clarisse was almost certainly going to be visited by the town guard tomorrow.
With this truly exhilarating thought in her mind, Clarisse felt beneath her chair for a bottle that wasn't already empty. Finding one after her sixth try, she uncorked the bottle and brought it to her lips. She took something to large to be a sip, and yet too small to be a gulp. It was going to be a long night...
A sharp rap on her office door shook Clarisse awake- or was the pounding in her head? The light of the sun shone through the window, causing the detective to shield her eyes. Morning already? Another knock on the door, and the woman groaned audibly. "Ah'right, ah'right, come in already. For Kia's sake..."
