Tristan couldn't believe it, the amount of plans it always seemed to take and the amount of conjoling it took to get his household ready. They were going to be hosting everyone who mattered! His birthday had to go perfect. He tried to calmly tell the servant to make the ball room dustless, and he meant dustless. He sighed as he escaped to the west wing. It was right on the coast, House Anell in its large estate was right on the shore. He rested in one of its arch ways staring into the ocean.
It helped calm him, and keep him civil towards new maids. He smiled as the small table in this little porch that jutted out from his second story with a great view, was filled with food by several servants. He wasn't sure if Madeline would join him today, but he hoped so, She seemed to be busy as well, It would be nice to catch up he thought and perhaps he could figure out more details of the event, He hoped it went perfect. He had already heard that one house couldn't make it. He justt hoped it wasn't a trend.
Madaline walked up behind Tristan wrapping her arms around his waist loosely. "How are you doing my love?" She asked softly knowing how stressed he got sometimes. She took a deep breath, breathing in his scent. She loved the man she held, she should after how long they had been together.
She saw the food set out and walked towards the table, grabbing his hand and pulling him towards the table. Food and the ocean always seemed to calm him and soothe his nerves. She sat down, wearing a loose and flowing pink dress that drifted slightly in the breeze from the ocean.
He remembered why he loved his wife as she pulled him to the table. " Your looking lovely as always today. " He said as he looked over the offerings and and picked a handful of berries and began to eat them as he sat at Madeline's bidding. " I am just so worried, that the party won't be good enough and we will be the laughing stalk of the country" He said not being able to keep his frown for long as he was in his favorite spot with his favorite person. " I just want it to be perfect.. It is my 31st birthday.. " He couldn't believe it and with already one province not attending he was worried.
Madaline leaned over and placed a soft kiss on his lips before pulling back and picking up a tart. "Getting all worked up will not make the party go down perfect, if anything it will make the staff nervous. Just relax, we have prepared the best we can, now we must let fate do its work. What is going to happen will happen, so relax darling," she spoke, trying her best to put his mind at ease. To finished off the small tart in a few bites and leaned over to the table to pour herself some of the sweet wine tha was sitting on the table.
Tristan smiled and seemed to relax. " your right, but and I know the staff are trying their best. What would I do without you. " He ate one of the tarts, as a servant poured him wine. Tristan took a sip and seemed to relax. " I hear that you have been busy, perhaps you are sneaking present of some sort? " He said hinting towards it.
Madaline placed her hand on her Chet and playfully acted as if she was taken aback by his words. "Me, sneak something under your nose, no, not me," she said with a smile. The truth was, she had been working of his birthday gifts for a while as well as little extras for the party that he didn't know about. "But if I were to get you something, what would you want?" She asked, trying to make it almost sound like she forgot to get him a gift.
" hmm I suppose you would be opposed to a harem... hmm A trip away with a special someone.. or perhaps a fine blade.. Mine is getting dull, or just a night with you alone. Is all i need or you could get me a small island! " He laughed a little knowing he through in some jokes but really he would be fine with just a night with Madaline, She was precious to him and it seemed that he didn't get to spend enough time with her.
Madaline reached and took his hand in her own. She smiled, his hands were so strong and warm. She could remember when she despised the man simply because it was not her choice to marry him. Now though, she loved him with all of heart heart and soul. She couldn't think of much that she wouldn't do upon his request. "I love you," she spoke gently, leaning close to him. She wished he wasn't always so busy, she sometimes grew lonely, but she figured it was the price she had to pay.
Tristan smiled glad that he could grow to love the woman in front of him. " I love you too , has anyone told you, that your beautiful today?" He smiled wondering what he would do for their aniversery which wasn't long after his birthday. Though he did wonder what to get her. " Is there anything you need? " He asked knowing full well he had already gotten her some jewelry. I heard a new shipment from Essyrn came in, I am sure they have some new fashions. " He said trying to share the news.
"I have all I need as long as I have you my love," She spoke softly. If he decided to get her anything it wouldn't be stuff that she needed it would be things to beautify her. "I am sure I will be satisfied with anything you see fit to give me my love," She added after a short pause. She offered him a soft smile knowing soon they would have to get back to preparing for the party.
Tristan smiled and knew he would have to go off and start preparing again, but he put it off by eating another tart and looking at his wife. " hmm I love these, we should have some at the party, perhaps dressed up a bit of course"
"I know you like them love and they are already on the menu, as well as many of your other favorite foods," She laughed gently, she loved the man so much. "Love you should relax a bit, I am sure I can handle anything else that needs to be dealt with," She offered.
" would you really? I suppose I could go riding, and I do have a meeting with my advisors."
He wast truely lucky. He had the best wife in the world he thought. " Make sure everything is perfect, I don't want my party to be remembered for anything less. " He tried to smile as he got up and gave her a kiss. I suppose we should end lunch then..
Madaline nodded, "I suppose so my dear, I will see you later?" She spoke, half question half statement. She kept her face pleasant, she wanted to enjoy his birthday, not get stressed out because of it. It wasn't the planning and getting everything together that bothered her. She just knew she would miss him. She made a mental note to plan a small getaway for the two of them so they could spend some well deserved time together.
" Conveniently I have dinner available. and since our kids are training to be lords and ladies. we have the place to ourselves" He smiled sort of glad that they were away training. It meant he and Madeline were able to have this time to themselves. " Don't stress too much. "
Madaline shook her head at her husband with a smile. "You are the one telling me to not get stressed?" She asked raising her eyebrows. A moment later she smiled and chuckled. "Go relax love, I have it all under control," she added after a short moment. She honestly hoped that he went to relax and didn't worry over this stuff.
Tristan gave her a hug and a kiss before leaving. He met with his advisors over trade and the general state of some things before leaving them and exploring the town on his horse. He loved doing so, and many wanted to see him and wish him a happy birthday. Tristan smiled as he saw they were throwing a festival for him, He couldn't believe it, that his people had thought to do that. He was than asked if he would make an appearance and he quickly agreed.
Tristan got back just in time to be at the porch, for dinner. He stood and watched the sea as he waited for his darling wife.
Madaline went off getting everything in order for his party. She went from one place to another ordering the staff around, making sure they were all busy doing their job. She was glad when she noticed it was time for dinner. Madaline walked to the porch, knowing that he would be there sense he loved the ocean so much.
Tristan smiled as he noticed Madaline's presence. He turned and embraced her as a fare filled with seafood was place on the table. " hmm did you know the town is planning a festival for my birthday?" He said wondering if she had anything to do with it. He was 31, no longer just a year past his 20's . He put that to the back of his mind as the sea air hit his nose again. He did love the sea and his wife and his little boy. Though he was sure that Claudas was playing at that moment of sleeping.
Madaline let the embrace linger. She didn't want it to end, she knew she had to get the affection she craved when she could. This was one time that she could. She reached for his hand, taking his hand into her own. "Are you hungry my love?" She asked softly, her thumb rubbing his hand lovingly.
Trstan smiled and lingered knowing his wife loved these moments. "I am indeed, are you?" He smiled as she rubbed his hand. He noticed she ignored his question which made him think that she might be avoiding it. He laughed and sat down, still holding her hand. " I am glad we have these dinners, Other wise I fear I would never see you.
Madaline sat down with a pleasant smile. With out the dinners they probably would spend time together. Tristan was always busy with something, Madaline couldn't be upset about that, he did provide her a very comfortable life, still she wished there were better ways of managing there time. They didn't get to talk like they used to, something that Madaline missed greatly. All they really talked about now were parties and up coming events, not there relationship or feelings or plans that only involved them. She sighed and shook the thoughts away, she was just being stupid she told herself.
Tristan smiled and ate a little and he spoke. " Can I make a request that from the week after my party till the end of the next month clear?" He asked hoping that she didn't have any plans. He wanted to take her away from it all. He knew she wanted to see him more, and he hoped that perhaps their family could get some real bonding done. He began to eat some of the fish savoring its taste. " I was hoping we could celebrate our anniversary by going to our country estate and being separated from the world. I will have my advisers in control during this time. well mostly anyways."
He hated leaving, who knows what could happen or what they might try, He was trying to put that aside for his family. He wanted to spend some time with them. If his wife insisted that he not do that because she knew he would worry, he had a back up plan, of mini trips that would let him still keep up with things but enjoy swathes of time with his family. He sort of hoped she didn't say yes to his first offer, He didn't know if he could keep himself separated from the province like that.
"You know you would be too worried for any of us to enjoy our stay there Tristan. I doubt you could be a mile from this place for a day and not worry yourself sick over what will most likely not happen," She spoke trying to keep her voice pleasant. Madaline began to eat slowly, looking out onto the ocean leaning back into her seat.
"What is your other idea, I know you well enough that you have another in the back of your mind," She spoke before finally turning to look back at her husband.
" you know me far too well Madeline. I was thinking a series of small mini trips, that would let me not get too far away but, let us have family time. " He smiled, wondering what was on Madeline's mind. " which means that if you want to go anywhere perhaps we could make a day trip out of it. " He continued eating, admiring his beautiful wife and the view.
Madaline shrugged before taking a bite of her food. I will ask Claudas if he has anywhere near he would like to go. I'm sure he will, or he will ask where you would want to go," She spoke before taking a sip of the white wine that had been poured for her. She leaned back looking at Tristan, "Where is it that you would like to go? And why do we have our country estate if we never go to it?"
Tristan laughed, "The estate has been in the family.. I remember living there in my youth a bit, Mother would take me there when she wanted to escape the city. " He thought about where he would like to go. "hmm I wouldn't mind exploring our province a bit, plus there are a few romantic spots my Father told me about that I wouldn't mind visiting. " He ate some more, taking a drink of the wine as well. " unless you want to go else where, perhaps we can take Claudas shopping, do you think he is too young for a sword?"
"A wooden sword should do him. He doesn't need a real sword, not for a few more years," Madaline spoke with a sigh. She thought about the option he had set out in front of her. "I like both options. Me and you can have our alone time and then we can also have our bonding time as a whole family. We need both, even at night me and you don't have much alone time to relax or be together," She spoke hoping her words wouldn't upset her husband.
Tristan knew he didn't spend enough time with his wife. He wanted to but always found reasons to be away. " Lets do it then, its decided. of course our anniversary is going to be the best one yet! He smiled It will be 10 years, can you believe it? " He put his hand across the table, in case she wanted to hold it. " I will try to spend more time with you and Claudias, Its not fair that I don't. Starting tonight " He said knowing his advisers would throw a fit but he didn't care. They could handle it for the evening.
Madaline reached her hand across her side of the table to hold his hand. If her husband stuck to his word then it would be nice. She wouldn't have to miss her husband and sleep in a cold bed. Her thumb caressed his hand lightly." I am sure Claudias will be enthralled. He does, after all, adore you like none other," She spoke with a soft sigh.
" I am glad, He is cute when he is excited. I will be even happier once this party is over, the guests will start arriving in a week or so. It is nerve wracking. I have never held such a large party. His house having recently come to the head of the province he was sure they would have all eyes on him. He took a deep breath and caressed Madaline's hand. " What would I do without you?"
"Just relax," She spoke as she took another big drink of wine. "Without me you would probably stress yourself to death," She said with a slight chuckle because it would probably be true. She thought about how much she would enjoy spending time with her husband. It had been a long time sense she had quality time with him.
"This is true.. " he laughed, He ate some more and took a last drink of wine. " hmm what do you propose we do for the rest of the evening?" He asked wanting to make the rest of the night about her.
"Well, a massage, cuddling by a fire, and from there we can figure it out," Madaline spoke with a bright smile. She was going to enjoy that night she could already tell. "You can start by telling me how much you love me," She said with a smile.
Tristan smiled " i love you more than anyone else in the world.. well you and Cladius. " He smiled, " a massage huh? and cuddling by the fire, " He laughed, it had been too long since he had done anything remotely close to that with Madaline. He was glad they had this evening, and already couldn't wait.
Madaline smiled, she was clearly happy. "Do you have any ideas of things we should do?" She asked with a slight chuckle as if she already had an idea of what he was going to say. She finished off the glass of wine, she was ready to go when he was.
He just gave her a grin " Oh I am sure we can find something" He said with a small laugh. " Now shall we go and get you that massage?" He said getting up after taking one last drink. He asked for the servants to prepare a bottle of wine for their room as well and to prepare the fireplace. He wanted it to be perfect.
Madaline stood, her hand still in Tristan's. "Work on a little sister for Claudias," She spoke with a giggle. She was so excited, it had been forever since the last time she had had an intimate night with her husband.
" I wouldn't mind a cute little girl " He said leading her towards the room. He walked slowly, just enjoying his wife's presence. " Why don't we do this more often, I feel as if it has been ages since I last did something even close to this. " He thought about it and realized that he has been busy taking over the province of late. That would explain it, as taking over the province had been a lot of work and he had been hardly around the house even.
Madaline followed her husband with a bright smile. "Are you trying to say you want a house full of children?" She asked with a laugh. He was the one that said they should do it more often and that is what that lead to. She considered it and figured that she wouldn't mind it too much. She was just glad that he was realizing that he had been neglecting his duties as a husband and focusing too much on his duties to his province.
When they got to their room, Tristan smiled and waited for Madaline. " So do you really want a massage.. or should we start by cuddling by the fire?" He said with a smile and a wondering which one she wanted. He just wanted to make her happy. He hoped he could manage to do that.
"I want both, but let's start with the massage," Madaline said with a smile. She turned her back to him so he could undo her corset and dress so he could give her a back massage. She smiled, knowing she was going to enjoy the night.
Tristan smiled as he slowly undid her dress and corset, taking his time to tease her back with tickles from the tips of his fingers. " Now where are we doing this?" he wasn't sure what she was going to lay on while he massaged her so he just started on her shoulders why she was still standing. His large hands strong from his training with the sword, worked on her shoulders for the time being.
Madaline let her dress and corset fall to the floor. She closed her eyes, Tristan had many talents and giving amazing massages was one of them. She stood there for a second before walking to the fireplace and laid down.
Tristan followed her and when she laid down, he went to work kneading on her back with his hands. He was glad he was able to bring her such relaxation. He purposely got a little close to her but as he did so. " your tense my love, you should of asked me sooner" He kept at it digging out her knots.
"You were busy... I.. Didn't want.. To bother you," She spoke, her words broken. She found it hard to speak when Tristan was working on a knot. She had her head resting on her arms with her eyes closed. She was relaxed and nearly almost completely comfortable.

Tristan smiled and got down next to her, and smiled, " hmm I thought we could start the cuddling part, unless you have other places that need massaged?" He smiled and looked at his beautiful wife. He admired her confidence even nude. He loved his wife, and wondered what else she might have in mind.
Madaline turned and pressed her back against Tristans. "If anything else needs to be massaged it can wait until after we get done cuddling," She spoke softly, turning her head to look over her shoulder at her loving husband.
Tristan laughed and leaned against Madaline. " hmm I do love a good cuddle" He looked at her and was eternally grateful for her. In all his moments of weakness, he had his rock, it was Madaline. Sure they had their marriage had been arranged he had grown to love his wife over the now almost 10 years. He just wished he deserved her love more, as he was often busy and not around even for their adorable son. He wanted to change that and it started now, as he basked in the feeling of being so close to Madaline, by the fire. It was heavenly.
Madaline relaxed, her eyes closing. She wanted to memorize this moment just in case in didn't last and Tristan got busy again. She hoped that Tristan would remember their son and would get better at managing his time. She could handle his absence, their son though, he didn't deserve to have to. He deserved to have his father for him.
"Madaline how did I get such a beauiful and wonderful wife?" He said with a laugh as he put his arm around her torso, taking in the familiar scent that was his wife. He always felt like he didn't deserve Madaline, because she was just so wonderful. He had turned so that his front was to her back, and just embraced her.
"Well my father and your parents decided it would be good for both of the families if we got married, that is how we come to get married," Madaline spoke playfully. She loved being close to Tristan. There was just something about him that calmed and soothed her. He was perfect for her.
" It was a genius move on their part, as I can't imagine spending my life with anyone else. and of course I don't think I could be the leader of this province without you" He said squezzing her against him. " hmm I don't know how it came to be so long since I was last this close to you. " He smiled and noted how that she was perfect for him, always knowing him better than he knew himself it seemed.
"I must agree. Then I would have swore they were making a mistake, but now I can see they might have known what they were doing. Or they just got really lucky," Madaline spoke with a soft giggle. "I love you Tristan," She spoke with a soft sigh. She was perfectly content in this moment, she couldn't see how it could be any better.
" I love you too " He said as he kissed the back of her neck. " You know I don't think I ever want to let go" He laughed as he kissed further down on her neck. He wondered if this still had the effect he thought it did on her. He closed his eyes and took in the moment wanting to cling on to it for future moments to remind him what he is missing.
Chills ran up Madaline's spine and her back arched sharply. "Are you telling me your not worrying yourself sick and your not even in your study?" She asked with a chuckle. Tristan knew all of her spots, of course after being married for ten years he had not excuse not to. She ran her hands over his arms that were wrapped around her until her hands rested on his.
Tristan kept kissing her neck trying to please her, knowing he was hitting her spot. " Last I checked that was my advisors.. trying to learn my location. " He laughed as he debating going farther in this game of teasing. He prayed she enjoyed this night, as much as he did, as he wasn't sure how often he could do this so he wanted it to last.
Madaline laughed, both because his joke and the fact that she was ticklish and along with hitting a spot he was tickling her. She wondered how often she would get this, she didn't want it to be a sporadic thing that rarely happened. She would almost rather not happen at all if it wouldn't be a regular thing. Madaline turned in Tristan's arms, looking up into his eyes. "Is this going to be a normal thing, or is this a way to try to make up for the time you won't be here?"
Tristan sighed, " Both, I want it to be a normal thing yet in case of any unforeseen issues in the province I want to make it the best I can. " He hated how that at a moments notice he could be pulled to some far part of the province for diasters or hot issues. He then smiled. " Unless you want to start traveling with me if such an occasion happens?" He had usually said no to protect her and Cladius but he wanted to include her more. and this would be his start.
"Do you think that would be safe for Claudas?" Madaline asked softly. He was a little boy and if it was all that dangerous he nor she should go. "I guess it will depend on the situation if we should go," She spoke with a sigh. Here she was thinking about having another child, she quickly pushed the thoughts away. Tristan was too busy for that.
" Your right... plus I thought we might be trying for a sister for him. If it is safe for you though, I will bring all three of you. " He said with a smile as he looked at his wife, so glad he was here with her. Her beauty seemed to never cease to amaze him as he admired her.
"You are busy, you struggle to spend time with Claudas, how do you think you will do if you have two children. Then both will demand even more of your time, it wouldn't be fair to either," She spoke. She had already pushed the idea of another child away. He would have to prove to her that he could make the time before she would consider it. Of course he was her husband, and if demanded it of her, she wouldn't have much choice.
" I can of course do, it else why would a day be planned with him already?" He kissed her and smiled " Hmm what can I do to prove it? as I would like you to want another child too. Plus I hope its a girl. " He thought maybe she would want a daughter enough that he could convince her. " Plus I will do things like this more often " He said as his hands roamed around her body, finding her breasts and teasing them a bit and then stopping as suddenly as he stopped. " I don't know.. Nicole? Elizibeth? Madaline... Tristan, Edmond" He threw out there. He didn't know.. He was horrible at names. Perhaps after their parents? He sighed and hugged Madaline, enjoying the moment of them together, He didn't want the night to end.
Madaline laughed, "You are really not good with name love, I guess I will have to think of something if I end up pregnant," She said with a sigh. She knew she probably wouldn't end up pregnant the first time so she wasn't too worried about it. He would have to keep this up for her to end up pregnant. It took six months for her to end up pregnant with Claudas.
" I know... I am terrible with them. and if you end up pregnant I will have to make sure to stock the kitchens. " He laughed wondering how many more nights of fun they would get while trying. It was a good excuse to make this normal. Oh how he loved time with his family. He couldn't wait till after the party and he took them on some small trips.
Madaline laughed at his little joke. "You better be clearing your calendar, you know how long it took last time," She said with a sigh. She considered going to a mage, they could help encourage the process along some.
" consider it cleared and of course we can do this anytime, you know, as I much rather do this that meet with advisers or eat. " he laughed as he seriously pondered to fit their trying in as much as possible. He wanted to but could he manage it. He hoped he could as he wanted to spend more time with the beautiful woman next to him.
"Well, we will see," Madaline replied, her voice trailing off into a whisper. She was growing tired, it had been after all, a long day. Plus if he was serious about trying as much as they could he would probably want some in the morning so she figured it would be best if she was well rested. She adjusted her head on his chest, fixing her long hair so he wouldn't accidentally pull it and then started to fall asleep.
With that Tristan drifted off into sleep glad to be in bed at the same time as her for once, and not coming in after she was asleep. He fell asleep fast, and easy with her so close to him.
Madaline woke up before Tristan but she didn't move. She was enjoying him holding her in his strong warm arms. She was completely comfortable and didn't see any reason to rush getting up when she could wait a little longer in his arms.
Tristan slowly woke up, and he noticed that Madaline was already up. He smiled and kissed her on the lips lingering. " hmm that was a good night sleep. " He couldn't remember a night like that in forever. He smiled and wondered if she was willing to do what he wanted to do.
Madaline looked up at Tristan with a smile, her fingers tracing slightly on his chest. She wished it could be like it use to be, where they could spend the day in bed and get food brought to them. Now, they had more wealth but they had a huge sacrifice for that money.
"hmm whats on your mind?" He asked as he began to tease her ever so slightly. He wanted this to last. He didn't want their time together to end anytime soon.
"Oh, nothing," Madaline spoke softly with a smirk. She wouldn't say she wanted, she would make Tristan beg. She half hoped that she got pregnant, but she knew that once she got pregnant they wouldn't be doing much of this.

Madaline finally rolled over, laying her head on his chest, snuggling close to Tristan. She was quiet for a moment, she was clearly deep in thought and worried over something though she wouldn't come right off the bat and say it to Tristan, she didn't want to ruin his good feelings. She hoped his happy feelings lasted, she didn't want to steal them from him like her mind did her.
Tristan looked at her with a concerned look " What is it my love, I know you remember, spill" He said not wanting to try to coax it out of her like before. He was beat. It had been to long.
Madaline shook her head. "Now is not the time for my troubles, I don't want them hindering your mood. I will share them later," she spoke, her voice both strong and demanding while soft and gentle. Her playful mood was all but gone, she knew she was tired though, so she rested on Tristan's chest.
Tristan just rested, glad to have Madaline so close to him. " What could be so bad my love?" He was concerned now, He wanted to be the rested happy individual but now he was in concerned mode. She should of just told him. " What is it?" He gave her his look, telling her to just tell him.
Madaline quickly rolled over to her other side. She hadn't wanted to talk about it but of course Tristan couldn't drop it. "What if I don't get pregnant, what if I can't?" She asked, her back to him now. It was clear she was upset. She had heard other nobles wives talk, about if they couldn't get pregnant they would go to other women who could.
Tristan was relieved that was all she was worried about. He had worked up worse things in his mind. " You gave birth once right? You brought in our beautiful boy Claudas you can do it again. " He hugged her, wanting to comfort her. " Your fine, stop worrying about if you will get pregnant and worry about when. " He said " if you feel comfortable we can even go see a mage, but either way I plan to have a kid only with you. I won't use another woman, your the only one for me. "
Madaline nodded slightly. She knew her husband was telling the truth, he was an honest man. Still she had doubts and those doubts scared her. She prayed that her belief in her husband wasn't miss placed. She relaxed in his embraces with a sigh. "I think we do need to go see a mage, I think it will be our best bet," She said softly, hoping that it was really okay.
Tristan smiled " Well then we shall go, how soon do you want to go?" He in the mean time relaxed next to her. It had been a while since he had lounged in bed for most of the morning. He hoped the province didn't fall apart while he lounged but figured it wouldn't and if it did he would hear about it.
"Today, when we decide to get up," She spoke rolling over and curling back up against his chest again. She knew she couldn't stay upset at him, she loved him too much. She could tell by the look on his face he was thinking about the province. She ignored it though and took a deep breath.
Tristan shrugged and kissed Madaline. " So Should we have the servants bring us breakfast? " He said with a smile. He was getting hungry, and he didn't want to leave anytime soon. He was having too much of a good time with his wife.
"That sounds like a perfect idea," Madaline said with a smile looking up at Tristan. She reached up and caressed his cheek playfully. "Do you know something you use to do all the time that you don't anymore?" Madaline asked softly.
Tristan was at a loss, he didn't know what she was refering to. He then decided to give in. " what did I use to do that I don't anymore?" He smiled as he rung a bell, which was rarely rung, He knew they would eventully bring them food. He looked at Madaline, wondering what it could be, as he admired his beautiful wife.
"You use to always play with my hair when we would lay in bed," Madaline answered softly. She missed it to be honest, she might not have told Tristan this but she liked her hair being played with. She offered a small half smile as she looked up at him before laying her head back on his chest.
With that, Tristan ran his hand through her hair, twisting it around his finger and such. he smiled and forgot she liked it. "like this?" he said as he did it with both hands, as he laid in bed glad that he was here. " We should really do this more often"
"Just like that," Madaline spoke relaxing. She had to admit that it was relaxing to feel him play with her hair. She looked up at him when he spoke again. "It is you that never has the time for this," She pointed out softly.
This is true, but i have decided I think we should do this more. " he said with a smile as he toyed with her hair more. "So what do you think of names?"
"Well it took you long enough to decide that," she spoke closing her eyes. She thought about what he said, names. She honestly didn't know. "Lets just worried about me getting pregnant first, if I don't get pregnant names won't matter."
You worry to much I think that you are indeed going to get pregnant. which reminds me do you have a preference on the gender of the mage? " IT was a valid question, as food was brought in Tristan contemplated how he was going to secure the services of a decent mage. He sighed and kept playing with Madaline's hair.
Madaline shook her head, Tristan was always so confident. It seemed sometimes he never had an ounce of doubt in him. She took a deep breath as she thought about his question. "Well I don't know, it depends what the processes. As long as my cloths stay on no. If they will have to see me undressed I would prefer a female."
"Well then I guess once I find out the process we will consult one, my love. " Now lets eat" He said as the table in their room had food on it and he found his undergarments. He should at least be wearing those he figured. He waited to see what she wanted to do as he could go get some for them both or they could sit at the table.
Madaline stood and walked to their wardrobe to pull out a long nightshirt. She figured if he thought he should be clothed she figured she would be as well. She walked to the table and sat down. Her mind not able to leave the thought about her getting pregnant.
He sat down at the table and smiled towards Madaline. " I love you " He began to eat a little, and wondered what he could do to get her mind off of them.
Madaline began to eat, finishing her bite of food and washing it down with a big drink of wine before she decided to speak. "I love you too," she said simply. She really wished that he hadn't been she adamant about bringing up that topic. Now it would be on her mind all day.
" So shall I meet you for Lunch and Dinner?" Tristan smiled at her and was glad that he was going to spend more time with her. "So how goes the plans for the party?"
"Yes," She spoke before taking a few bites of breakfast. She thought about her answer, not wanting to forget anything.
"Well, it is going fine, nothing bad happening, so pretty good I guess," She spoke before taking a sip of wine.
" That is good, I am busy today with security arrangements for our guests during their stays. and accomidating them and their escorts. " He smiled eating some more, hoping that he had helped cheer up his wife. He loved her so, and it broke his heart to not spend as much time as he use to with her.
Madaline smiled back, letting her mood lighten. She knew she couldn't let her mind stay on that subject, she had things to do, things to plan, people to see. Plus she knew she had to go spend time with her son. Though Tristan sometimes failed to give him time, Madaline always made as much time as her son wanted to spend with her.
Tristan smiled " What are your plans today? " He wondered, as he ate some more. He enjoyed the quiet morning.
"Well, first off I want to spend sometime with our son, as him how he would feel about having a little brother or sister," Madaline answered drinking some more wine.
"Yes, please tell him I love him and wish I could see him. " Oh how Tristan wished he could spend more time with Claudas. He smiled as he imagined the cute boy. " Hmm Perhaps I will sneak a couple minutes with him if I can. " He so hoped he could.. Claudas lit up his day always.
"Maybe you could go with me and we could ask him together what he thinks about having a younger sibling?" Madaline asked softly before finishing off her glass of wine. She sat back and looked at her husband. She felt rather relaxed, a rare thing for her resently.
Tristan smiled and decided he would go along with it. " Sure, we can do that and perhaps visit him for a bit. " He smiled as appareantly he was going to be able to see that bright face of his. It would be refreshing.
"Well we should be getting washed and dressed if we plan on going anywhere anytime soon," Madaline stated with a slight smile. She stood and walked over to the water basin.
Tristan got ready, with a quickness and made sure to have everything. He was hoping that Madaline would be quick but he knew that wasn't possible. He laughed and ate a bit more of the growing cold food as he waited. He wondered how long she would be.
Madaline was quick but didn't rush. She made sure to wash off and get dressed in her stylish clothing. Finally she finished doing her hair before turning to Tristan.
"Okay, are you ready?" She asked with a soft smile.
" Of course, Shall we go see Claudas then?" He waited for her to lead the way, also offering his hand. Like he use to do. He was glad to be with Madaline. He wasn't sure he wanted to rule a province. with the price but then he thought of his family and his duty and figured there was no one better to do the job.
Madaline took Tristan's hand in her own with a smile. She led them to their son's day room. She didn't know if he would be there, but figured it would be the best place to start.
Claudas was there indeed, along with his nanny. Nan -- a darling, old soul who, in spite of her age, seemed to have no trouble keeping up with the rambunctious younger -- was hunkered down on the floor with the boy. Wooden soldiers and horses were spread out before them, many of them already "dead," if laying on their side was any indication.
It seemed Tristan and Madeline had walked in on the climax of the battle.
"What happens if you kill all of the soldiers?" Nan was asking, voice full of patient amusement.
Claudas took careful aim with a marble, using the small, round stone as a sort of cannon. "You give up, of course!"
Nan chuckled, although she was quick to stand when the noble pair made their entrance. She curtsied deeply. "My Lord and Lady."
Claudas's grin nearly split his face in two, and he leaped to his feet to wrap his arms around both of his parents as best he could. "Guess what! There was this spider that was on the table, and it was so big it could have eaten a cat! No! A dog!"
Tristan smiled and picked up Claudas holding him between Madaline and him. " How is my little soldier? " He said, ruffling his hair. He was going to not suddenly bring up what they were there for. It was rare indeed for both of them to be with Claudas at the same time. He would have to fix that as well it seemed. Tristan wondered how he let his family get so distant. He looked at madaline and smiled. "I caught us a little boy, What should we do with him?" He wondered what Claudas would have to say, hoping he wasn't too "big" to play such games.
"Real good!" Claudas enthused merrily, with a firm nod. "I'm winning the war! See?" Of course, it really looked like a mess of toy soldiers and marbles, but that was all besides the point!
At the question of what to do with him, the boy's eyes widened dramatically, and he squirmed uselessly, knowing already what was to come next. Even though neither of his parents had started tickling him yet, he was already shrieking in laughter as he tried to get away. "No tickling! I don't wanna be tickled!"
Madaline grinned as her fingers moved to his sides, "I think we should.. Tickle torture him," She spoke, laughter filling her voice as she started to tickle him. It had been forever since she had done anything like this. She missed it dearly and was glad to have it back.
As she stood there tickling him her mind wondered to what her son would think about having a sibling. She both felt and hoped that he would be okay if not excited about it. She then thought that maybe she should wait to tell him, maybe when she was already pregnant. She sighed softly, finally pulling her fingers from her son, a smile still lingering on her face.
Tristan smiled and focused on not dropping claudas. The boy could squirm. "I don't see how you can win a war when your own mother can defeat you so easily. " and then Tristan tickled him a bit before stopping. " do you surrender?"
Claudas was still shrieking with laughter, even when his parents withdrew. Big, fat tears were rolling down his chubby cheeks and occasionally flying in every direction as he shook his head from side to side as he squirmed to escape. They were tears of joy, however, brought on by so much heartfelt and innocent laughter.
"She..." He gasped out between laughs/sobs. "She cheated!" He was protesting the whole thing. Tickling wasn't fair!
"But she wins!" he added promptly and emphatically. Yes, the war would be hers if they would just stop tickling him!
Madaline smiled kindly at her son, "Well it is good then that we are on the same side of the battle field," She spoke, her voice filled with the happiness that she felt. She hadn't been this happy in a while. It was nice to feel like a family, like how it use to be.
Tristan laughed, " So how are you Claudas?" He said setting him down, He loved being with Madaline, and Claudas. He smiled and sat on the floor so he was near the level of claudas. He didn't know how to approach the subject quite, so he was a bit quiet, waiting to see if Madaline had an idea.
"Good!" Claudas chirped, simply happy to be with his parents for the time being. Remembering his manners, then, he corrected himself carefully, "I'm well, I mean." He grinned at his parents, quite proud that he had remembered the lesson and the word.
He paused, then, sensing some of the tension, although not sure to what he might credit it. He looked from his father up to his mother, then back to his father again with a serious of wide-eyed blinks.
"Am I in trouble for something?"
For the life of him, he couldn't imagine what he had done that he might be in trouble for!
Madaline looked at Tristan then to Claudas.
"Oh no dear, you haven't done anything wrong," She started, feeling bad that somehow they had made Claudas feel that he had done something wrong. She quickly turned to look at Tristan, hoping that he would as their son his opinion. She couldn't find the correct words to do so.
" Of course not, We were wondering what you thought about having a baby brother or sister. Your mother and are thinking about having another one because you are so special. Though you will have to protect them and teach them what you know. "
He smiled and wondered what Clauda's response would be. He didn't know.
They had never broached the subject before and he just hoped that it turned out that he was for it. As he was sure that he probably would have one anyways... Their family could do with some additional members, he hated having to worry about such things but as head familly of the province, they needed to radiate strength.
Madaline laid her head on Tristan's shoulder glad that he found the words. She sighed contently, the worry leaving her as she leaned slightly against her husband.
Claudas looked instantly relieved when his own innocent had been established, but his grin turned into a much more bewildered expression a minute later.
A brother or a sister? He rubbed at his nose with the back of his hand, seriously mulling over the matter. He supposed he had never really thought much on it. Although some might frown on the practice, he was still of an age where he enjoyed adventures with the servants' children, so he had never been a lonely child...
But he did like the idea of teaching them and protecting them. It made him feel very gallant!
"Can I have a brother, please?" he asked sweetly, as if he were choosing a puppy from a litter. "Girls cry too much." He glanced shyly at his mother and added, "Except for Mama."
Tristan smiled, " I don't know if you will get a sister or a brother but either way, I am glad you agree, now perhaps we can help you in your war?" He said as he smiled. as he put his arm around Madaline. Oh how he loved his family.
