Title: Eyes on the Crown
Post by: visualspice on June 03, 2013, 10:24:25 PM
OOC: This is an OPEN thread. PM me if interested before joining. I like discussing ideas before having people jump in :3 Also, please read up on my character Jinai, as this thread will more than likely revolve around her and her misadventures XD

--------------

The ceremony was to be a symbol of the future. The next grand duke to step up and take hold would represent a Connlaoth who was to take action after it's last Grand Duke had been slain. It was to be a man of action, a man with a firm and iron grip on the laws with an unshakable will to eradicate the enemy and invoke change. It had taking months of mud slinging and left winging, but eventually it had been voted upon and declared that the new Grand Duke would be Calent of the duchy of Allar.

He was a quiet man, reserved and well respected for his tact on taxes and running his duchy into something quite prosperous. Where his father before him had already been creating a larger, more established domain, upon his passing, Calent furthered his knowledge of the land, people and taxes, and continued ruling with vigor to ensure it would remain prosperous. All the while sentiments towards mages were brewing in a most soured way, and with so much going on within his life (and he was also a man who was brideless, though when this all came about, it was finally revealed he was to be married, and to a lady Kathryn of the duchy of highheart. So that put to rest any arguments over future heirs (so long as the couple could produce), and kept most of the rumors now focused on 'who was the killer'? and 'Will the new grand duke fix this injustice'.

So all eyes were on the capital on the day the bells were clinging throughout the land, decreeing the ceremony to indoctrinate him into 'office' had begun.  It was at this sound of the bells Jinai peered out from her perch upon the roof top of a nearby building, keeping her green eyes upon the palace. The entire city (and the palace being no exception) was on the highest guard it had ever been since the day the former grand duke had been killed. The soldiers were making no exceptions to keep the new Grand Duke safe, so with a smirk, she began to count how many men, and lost count after she'd near one hundred. She shook her head. That was a damn impressive number of soldiers and mordecai roaming about.

Thankfully she had a plan. She needed to get as much information as possible to sneak inside and find out what was the plan. What the grand duke was saying, who was there listening and what were they saying, so she could report it back to Torri of the Free Folk. And, well, to also warn a few friends this might affect. She'd have to be sure to write to her brother about this when the day was over. He'd probably scold her for being in on something so dangerous, but she didn't care. She had procured the right costume this time, she just had to sneak in to where she had stored it. Her first idea was to waltz in wearing her silly, fancy dress, one that she wore now beneath her tattered cloak. SHe could fit in as one of the noble families, a Miss Melissa, who no one would care to check ot make sure her identity was true. But in the alleyway, there was a run down shop, where she had hidden some armor. To sneak in as a guard...
it was a bloody brilliant idea if she did say so herself.

Slipping down the side of the building, she was cautious of the people down below, landing a few blocks away within the street. She adjusted her cloak and walked down the way, her eyes smiling beneath the shadows veil hanging down from her hood.

Torak had spent most of the afternoon patrolling. The Grand Duke's Ceremony. And Torak was missing it. He was all alone, stuck on roofs just watching for anyone dangerous looking. It had taken a lot to convince the To-Be Grand Duke to accept Torak's offer. A new armour set, cloak with a recognisable symbol, and even then he wasn't getting paid. So old tricks had been brought up. The Grand Duke had no children to threaten, but a safety to threaten. If he died, his bloodline died, and he didn't want that. No way did any ruler want that. So Torak just proved that he was the best assassin for the job. And the job, as it turns out, was assassinating assassins before they could assassinate their targets. Wonderfully boring in Torak's eyes.

The rooftops were completely deserted. The bells rung to signal the ceremony beginning, and then he saw it. A girl, drop from a building perch, a brilliant spot of observation. Also easily visible. Unfortunately he knew from previous assassinations that a good viewpoint was a balance between the darkest corner and the best view. Easier said than done. He admired the girl though, it was a perfect assassin's viewpoint. Pointless otherwise. And thus he begun the hunt for his new prey.

She had swiftly moved into the street, cloak up, habits that kept tried and true. And people were swarming to be at the ceremony. Perfect crowd cover to flee with a ranged attack on the Duke. Clever. She would most likely use a crossbow or another easily concealed ranged weapon. Poisoned blow darts, throwing knives. All possibilities. From his position behind her as cat, she looked like an unarmed mouse. So he stalked her, watching her every move.

OOC: I probably didn't clarify it in my PM, but Calent probably wouldn't hire him directly, probably a subordinate of his would have done it. :3 and Calent would only be vaguely aware that outside resources were recruited.

------------

Despite her other costume being a few blocks away, Jinai thought she felt eyes upon her and peered over her shoulder out at the crowd. But nothing was there, and the swarm of people kept moving past her.

"Come on, keep it movin'," one of the guards stated. "The ceremony will be beginning and we can't have any of the main roads clogged. Either move on or be moved."

Turning towards the guard, she smiled, bowing slightly before moving on her way. Though she hadn't seen anyone, she still felt uncomfortable, and kept walking in the same direction, opposing the crowd. If someone was following her, it was best to see how far they were willing to travel. So for now, the armor was left abandoned, though now forgotten as she continued to make her way through the crowds, biding her time until she believed that she appeared non-discrete, and then slipped into a side alley, ten more blocks from her destination. Once there, she slipped back the hood on her cloak and peered around. No one was in this alley. Good. Glancing up towards the sky, she noticed a hawk circling over head. She smirked. Feather'swing was always prepared. She didn't need to signal her, at least not yet, as her boots made echoing footsteps down the cobblestone streets as she moved deeper into the alleyway, placing the hood back over her head.

He followed his prey, switching direction briefly when she had turned around, becoming one with the crowd, to turn and see her skulk into an alley. Inconvenient for her, but no clear motive. If a trap was laid, spring it, and hope you can dodge it. He stalked her into the alley, his unique gift blending him into the shadows, his eyes fixed on her. No clunking of metal against stone. Leather armour at best then, he assumed.

Over the years, he had grown to be good at deducing things about targets. He could exploit the weaknesses of most foes, and was good at his job. That was why he was still alive. A bad assassin ended up dead, or worse, and the girl seemed to be trying to do a good job, and so far, she was. She had got a plan, which was more than Torak ever had. He preferred to freestyle his kills, planning escape routes in the few seconds before his target died. Planning his paths as he walked them. It was crude, but effective still.

Efficiency was all that made an assassin good.

Clang.

A bucket had been in his path, his small chance of remaining unseen lost. He looked straight at the girl, hoping she would not turn around. But he had a gut feeling she would. He knew she would.

At the sound of the clanging, Jinai froze in mid-stride. A cold wind gathered down the way, channeling through the streets and rustling her attire.

Shit. Someone was behind her. ANd she knew no one was in the alley when she had entered, so someone was following her. It was best not to turn, not to draw any attention, though what 'innocent' person would ignore such a noise? It was time to start acting, so she turned around, tilting her head back at the man curiously as she looked down towards the bucket, then up to his face.

"Do you need help, sir? " she glanced around, noticing not too many things could have been in his way. Was he in that much of a hurry to pursue her that he hadn't notice the bucket? Shit. He was probably another scout. She should have run- but then her cover would be blown. There was nothing about her to make hr too conspicuous, and if she needed to, she would simply have to reveal the pretty dress she was wearing. After all, men were fools for the curves of women (and tended to cower easily to those of power)
"Because I am in quite the hurry," she continued, trying to keep an air of authority about her tone. "There are guards back the way you had come, in the main street. If you are lost and need directions, I suggest you speak with them."

And also, she wanted to suggest he get the hell out of the alley way before she threw a knife at his face. She didn't have time for this. Time was of the essence. She had to find out what was going on withint hat ceremony. There was a lot riding on it.

Torak froze. She was speaking. His mind blanked and all his instincts pointed towards killing the woman. But blowing his cover was not a smart move. So he kept his head down, and turned away. He would not risk it. He would not.

Fuck it.

"Why were you on that building side. Perfect viewpoint for an assassin... You know, I would know, I am paid to assassinate assassins." And with that sentence, he threw his new cloak down and charged.

It wasn't a head on charge, he leapt onto the wall, running the distance between them. He drew his sword, one had drawing the blade, the other tracing his path on the wall.

"DIE ASSASSIN!" He shouted, his mask altering his voice.

Well, wasn't he presumptuous? And also too loud and warningful before his attacks. Jinai had more than enough time to slip a knife out of her sleeve and aim it at the towering barrels between them. The knife sunk into one of them, offsetting it's weight and sending a group of them tumbling between them. It was enough of a distraction for her to turn tail and run, and she only had one direction to go..
So down the alley she went, and rounded the sharp bend and kept on running, hoping to leave the loud mouthed bastard to eat her dust.

He focused the rooftop above him in his mind, and felt himself become weightless for a second, before he was on the roof tops, cutting the bend and running up behind her. He ran, one eye trained on her, the other flicking between his wrist mounted crossbow and the roof. He had plenty of ammo, but only one bolt left in the bow cartridge itself. Not good enough for him.

He followed her, round several bends and turns, trying to aim a clear easy shot on her head. No chance. Not at the speeds they were running. Hopefully the alley would stop soon. If she ran out into the open street, he would use some pocket explosives. Designed to panic people into chaos. Hopefully that would catch her off guard.

They ran, cat and mouse, lion and gazelle, predator and prey in a battle of attrition. He couldn't get a shot on her but she couldn't stop to get one on him for the possibility he would be quicker. She would get a head start in that situation, but he would be ready, He already was ready. It was just a matter of running her down. She would have to get tired eventually.

Thankfully she knew these streets like the back of her hand. So where as the alley seemed to narrow, keeping her nearly pinned against the wall as she shimmied her way between a pair of buildings, she took off again into a more open street, one that was heading back they way they had come, to all of the fanfare. And she stumbled as she ran, tossing off her hooded cloak to reveal the dress ensemble below, and before Torak would know it, she was throwing herself at a pair of guards at the end of the street.

"Guards! Guards! THere's a man out there who's chasing me! Threatened to kill the new duke! Please! Help me!" and Jinai didn't have to continue on with her spiel as the men were already on alert, shouting to a few other guards along the way and turning around and barreling straight after Torak as Jinai pointed him out! "That's him! THe one in black!"
and as the men were charging his way, she smirked and took off back into the crowd, steadying her run and hoping to find herself hidden amongst the crowd. Though she had revealed herself in her costume, maybe he'd believe she was who she now had to pretend to be..
that was, unless she could get to that suit of armor.

Shit..
She might have to go with plan B. Thankfully the crowds were packed with people, and she easily blended in. But she had to think of a plan.. and quick. Who knew how long the guards would hold off that assassin.

He took the wrist mounted crossbow, and shot two of the guards, before teleporting into the crowds. He had caught a glimpse of the dress, and he took two steps before teleporting to the shadiest vantage point. An overshadowed church spire. Beautiful. He blended into the shadows, casting the small spell that aided that end. He needed to protect the Grand Duke for his pay. Stop the assassin. The guards were no doubt confused. Perhaps they didn't know who he was. Mercenaries perhaps, hired like him. Or just people hadn't spread the memo. Bastards.

He scanned the crowd, looking for, what he considered a very attractive woman. In a very elegant dress. The people of Reajh were rich, yes, but not always rich enough to afford that sort of dress. She would stick out of the crowd ever so lightly. He reached into a small pocket, enchanted to contain 8 times what it could originally, and pulled out a small hand bomb. It was an incendiary device. Aimed right, it would send the crowd into a frenzy. It would ruin the Grand Dukes day, but he would not go out when assassins were roaming, causing havoc.

And with that reasoning behind him, he pulled a pin, and threw the device. It collided with the floor and spewed flames over the church courtyard. People screamed and fled and hid, and in the panic he saw her. He mentally noted her description, and teleported down, to chase after the woman. She was a menace. A sexy menace to him, but a menace. Why did all the beautiful women try and kill him, or cross his path?

OOC: OMgerd XD
The last grand duke was killed by an explosion, things are going to get crazy and fast X3
---------------

The panic set in quickly, fires flashing up from the charred ground and sending people running out of the streets and finding anywhere to flee for cover. It didn't take long for more men, more guards, and mordecai to arrive.

"Mages! Mages infiltrated the city! Stop them no matter the costs!"

And as Jinai was stuck in the middle of it all, she whirled around as the crowd began to disperse, cursing beneath her breath when she caught sight of the damn assassin again. He was barely a few feet away and gaining fast.
Well, might as well play up the role of the damsel in distress.

"Oh my god! There he is! There's the mage that's trying to kill the new Grand Duke!"
and before Torak would know it, an entire force of soldiers was heading his way.

In a whirl of red skirts, she found her own self suddenly surrounded by guards, aiming to protect the noble lady and were leading her off to safety. And all she could think of out of this mess was, 'Let's see that damn assassin get out of this one now.'

Blast, this was not going to do well. Now he had to contend with MORE guards. One trick for this it would cost his a lot of energy, but he could do it.

He summoned the energy, and with the sudden feeling of weightlessness, he was behind the guards, next to the woman. His sword was already drawn, and he decapitated one guard, then two. In another teleport, he stabbed one guard and threw a knife in another. Then teleported again. He swung a wide arc, getting three guards this time. He teleported once more, slicing one guard in half then shooting the final one with the crossbow.

He stood for a second, the strain on his body causing him immense pain. All the guards were dead, but he would need to remove his magical barriers to get some energy back. And so he did, and he felt well enough to chase again, although a straight firebolt would kill him easily right now.

OOC: And now time to turn his magic off XD
Mordecai have natural anti-magic barriers that would make it near impossible for him to do anything, so let's see how he fairs when the magics are turned off :D
Also, he's pretty much put himself on the wanted list now >.>
killing guards, regardless if he was hired to protect the grand duke = he's now an enemy of Connlaoth XD
------------

Death, death and more death. Every which way she turned he struck, killing one guard, then another. Her eyes widened, not exactly prepared to see some sort of maniac taking the guards down with little effort...

Shit. Perhaps she had been right. Maybe he was the murderer who killed the duke.
but then.. why give chase to her?

With all of the guards down, Jinai took a step back, slipping a hand down the side of the slit of her dress and drew out a blade and pointed it at him.
"Well, ain't that a show of fancy blood work. I suppose you think killing the guards makes me a worthy target." Her lips twitched at the thought. Who would have thought such fanfare for someone to go after her? They must be confused on who she was. She was a scout, yes... but to out right kill guards and cause massive panic simply for her? It was inconceivable, and she continued to back away, but kept a firm grip upon her blade.

And it was at this time a massive swarm of army men and mordcai began pouring out and around the buildings nad street. All usable magic would be over whelmingly snuffed out, and any other people left int he street would be apprehended and brought into prison for questioning-
and Jinai and Torak would fair the same.

"The two of you halt! Lest we cut your heads off right now in the street." The call came from the famous General Serenus, one of the highly notable men from the Allarian Duchy army. He kept his swords firm, and that of over one hundred men that surrounded them. "For I am good with my word. The pair of you are under arrest!"

Jinai smirked, her green eyes dancing as she stared back at Torak and simply let her blade drop. Her eyes seemed to ask him 'What are you going to do now?'

It seemed they were both under arrest.

OOC: Of course, Mordecai's are fun! :P
And the amount of times I will have written General Grievous when typing this will be phenomenal, haha XD

-----------------------------------

His armour grew heavy and his enchantments waned and faded as the swarm of anti-magic fields accumulated. His sword no longer glowed and he would have nothing. "Fine. You win, General." He dropped his sword, and stepped down. If they refused to release him, he would escape the old fashioned way.

"I admire your large force of Mordecai's. A very gifted set of people. All this because guards attacked me while I stopped this young lady from killing your new Grand Duke. I'm honoured." He spoke with the devil in his voice, taunting his captors. He merely had to wait. His client would release him no doubt. He was angry that he was attacked by guards in the first place. Why had the memo not circulated?!
Title: Re: Eyes on the Crown

OOC: Too bad for him, Calent's man that hired him won't help XD
if he did and admitted to it, he'd be beheaded (not Torak, but the man hiring him lol)
Not to say he couldn't be weaseled out XD
---------

The General's eyes narrowed upon the two prisoners.
"We've got overwhelming responses you're the only threat here. But take them both to jail for questioning, and see that there are mordecai and extra soldiers are stationed everywhere near that jail. As far as I see, it you're both in this together."

Jinai was grinding her teeth. It looks like the odds were stacked against them. If questioned thoroughly enough, which she assumed would very well happen, they would find out she was not who she was trying to pretend to be, and she'd be in the noose anyway. This wasn't looking good for both of them. But then her eyes caught something.

Feather'swing. She was circling over head. It was a long shot, but she had to get out of this alive. Drawing two fingers to her lips, she gave a whistle, just as the men were narrowing in to take them, when suddenly her hawk flew in, and with a gesture, Jinai motioned for her bird to attack Serenu's face. It was a direct hit. The General let out a noise, and with the distraction in play, she hit the floor and went rolling, tumbling nimbly under a pair of soldier's legs, then sliding beneath another. There was only three lines of men (still, an impressive amount) but due to the fact she was much smaller than Torak, and allt he men in armor, she was able to slip away and dashed off into the alley way, with the General screaming, "Capture her! Do not let that one escape! And let her no where near the building!" Half the army nad mordecai cut away, making chase, and all Jinai could do was swear through her teeth.

"Shit."
Title: Re: Eyes on the Crown

The force weakened and the guards nearest him were putting cuffs on him. "I will give chase. But do me a favour. The nobleman that hired me. His name is Correnée. Kill him." He kicked his sword up off the ground and began running. Past guards, past Mordecai, past the general, he ran and he reached a building face, when he flung the sword on his back and scaled it. It took him a few vital seconds but he felt his magic return slightly. He ran forward, faster than the guards were running the alley. He saw it cornered to a dead end.

Perfect. Then he felt his magic return more. Enough that he could handle the single teleport needed to bring him in chasing distance of his target. He hated this girl. Her guts, her speed, her brilliance. When he caught her, he might even let her live. Might.
Title: Re: Eyes on the Crown
Post by: visualspice on June 13, 2013, 08:31:49 AM
Shit. Shit.

Unlike Torak, Jinai didn't have any sort of magic to simply 'vanish' and was relying solely on her legs and luck to guide her. Unfortunately for her, she was out numbered. Soldiers were everywhere, and the Grand Duke's inauguration ceremony was not taken lightly. Becoming cornered, she cursed beneath her breath and eventually turned around to meet her fate, and was quickly hand cuffed under the strict authority of General Serenus. She studied the man for a time, and looked around, curious as to what had become of the other man, (as she hadn't seen him disappear); though it was quite clear to the rest he was a mage. There were many that had seen him, and word was getting around through the guard for people to draw up a wanted poster, and for scouts and mordecai to sweep through the area, all the while Jinai was being lead deep within the bowels of the jail. It was funny, she had been here before. That time was when both she and the gimp, Tenran, had been at the wrong place at the wrong time together. That had certainly been interesting. But now she'd have even more of a difficult time getting in and out of the jail house. Now with her being tagged to a possible assassination attempt...
She might very well be hanged.

SO there she was, rotting in a cell, while the festivities proceeded on in the world above. And she was missing everything. She knew this job would be difficult, and this was a high possibility, but she hadn't considered a foolish mage assassin would have tried to stop her. What was he thinking anyway? Though then again... as she presumed earlier, he could very well have been the former grand duke's assassin....
So there she waited, boredly, with about five guards waiting outside of her cell keeping watch... waiting for them to come and question her about the events. Great.. what was she to say? She'd have to come up with a clever alibi...
Title: Re: Eyes on the Crown

They had taken his quarry now, and the thought he would stand for that. She would not suffer the hangmans noose. She was too strong for that. But they had overwhelming force. But he had an idea.

The gaol she was being held did not hold her underground. But over it. She was on the second floor. So he planned the break in. She would die by his hand. Not by the hangman's noose. And she would die in a fair fight. He had gotten her in there. Now he was busting her out.

The plan was terribly efficient. Kill all guards who got in his way, Mordecai, General or not they would die. Then teleport her out. Not if they had mordecai stationed everywhere. No. It would have to be more conventional than that. He would have to slaughter his way out. He could get in, but not out. Fun.

And so, as the Grand Duke's ceremony went on, he conducted his break out.

He scaled the gaol wall, killing two guards at the top and teleporting into the yard. Then he teleported onto the wall. He peered through the minute window into her cell. Guards out the front. Brilliant.

And with a final punch of energy to teleport into her cell and into the mordecai field.

"Hello again, I'm here to rescue you." He spoke with a cool chill, turning to her.

Jinai hadn't entirely expected someone to just 'pop' into her cell. Granted, magic might work one way here, but with his sudden appearance, and the several Mordecai and regular soldiers armed to the teeth being staffed, (oh, and the fact the door was locked) made her raise her brows at the man as she backed away. She looked around to see if anyone noticed, but currently, they had not. Her eyes shifted back to him.
"How the hell- what are you crazy?" Jinai's eyes narrowed upon the man, her hands clenching into fists. "You've made your intentions very clear that you want me dead. As if I'd believe in a rescue." ANd before he could stop her, she turned around and threw herself at the iron bar door of her cell.

"Guards! Guards! The mage killer has appeared- and he's in my cell!"

Well that got everyone's attention as crossbows were aimed, swords were unsheathed, and another pair of mordecai came dashing into the jail hall.

"By the Gods.." the jail house lead guard stammered. "How the hell did you get in here?"

Another sneered. "Does it matter? He's in jail now, and no magic can break out of there. He just set himself up for a trap!"

"Well, aren't you going to arrest him?" Jinai pressed.

The one guard laughed. "Why? To put him in jail? He's already there!" and he laughed, patting the jail cell door. "Hejust made our job even easier. Enjoy your room mate, convict."

Jinai was taken back, backing away from the door, then turning to Torak, she backed away from him, glaring daggers at him. Gods, could this scouting mission go anymore wrong?

"I am merely rescuing you so I can kill you in a fair fight." He stepped towards the door and peered through the bar. A guard in shooting distance. Perfect.

"Now it will be fun." He threw a sword to Jinai. The he loaded his wrist mounted crossbow, aimed it at the guards neck, and let the bolt fly. It got the guards straight in the throat, killing him instantly.

Now he had kicked the hornets nest.

The guards swarmed in and Torak took two out with his crossbow wrist mount. Then he drew his sword, and killed another.

------------

Ooc: Woop! Daring rescue!
Title: Re: Eyes on the Crown

OOC: Lol. Omg, Jinai is like FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
She's totally not really a fighter, but a stealth missions specialist |8*
Should be fun after he realizes his mistake that she's no assassin XD
and you know, is no where near as skilled as him in this sort of fight.
-----------------

Jinai caught the sword, surprised she hadn't dropped it as her mouth fell open and she stared at the man as if he were crazy. No.. she decided, he was crazy, and wholly believed him to the the former Grand Duke's murderer. He had the gall. Clenching her hand on the blade she glared at him.
"Who's to say I wouldn't use this blade right now to gut you,"she hissed, but before she had a chance to even make good on that threat, or even make a choice the men were upon her. And they were swinging blades and spears at her! Shit!
she narrowly missed a few strikes, but the fighting inside the cell was tight, so they only had that to their advantage, so while some of the men were fumbling to get in, Jinai took the only route she knew best..
by ducking between the guards legs and tumbled out into the hall, only to find herself being caught by the throat by the lead guard.

"Where do you think you're going, bitch?"

Jinai cringed, and struggled for breath, and hoped this man was unarmored on his crotch as her boots gave a kick. The DINK noise on the metal confirmed, and had her swearing while the man laughed in her face.
"What's the matter girly, can't kick through armor?"

Oh, but soon she proved she could, as a second, more angered and more heated kick landed directly between his legs again, denting in the metal as the steel tips of her boots knocked it in- and the man sputtered, gasping and wheezing in a whine as he released Jinai, who took off, fleeing amongst the chaos without even chancing a glance back to Torak.
He could deal with the ten remaining guards himself.

But too bad she was stopped at the door by the mordecai.
Shit!
And four men were soon upon her, all having blades pointed at her throat.
And without much of a choice, she gave a bitter glare and dropped her own weapon to the floor s it landed with a clatter upon the stone.

Torak dispatched the ten guards with ease, their fumbling and clamouring delaying them. And with that he was out, free. And Jinai was gone. Blast. His quarry had escaped, again.

Then the guards point blades at her, doing their jobs. Wonderful. And she just drops her sword. She was no assassin. She had not killed anyone, the sword was unbloodied. She was a scout. A burden.

He ran across the balcony, vaulting it with just enough strength to land easily, throwing a knife straight into one guard to draw their attention. And it bounced straight off his helmet. In his head it had gone awfully, as he had planned for three guards, not four. So he threw another. And failed again. Crappy knives.

Instead he grappled one guard, while another scored a rib stab on Torak. Instead of crying out in pain, he just decapitated the man with a frenzied blow.

OOC: If he wanted to try to teleport again, he should find out which of the guards are mordecai and kill them. They'd be pretty prominent with their emblems and stuff~
------------

As the fan fare of blood continued, the guards still held the swords to her throat.
"Get the woman out of here, and call for more men on back up!" the leader spat, once he had recovered his voice from the kick. Jinai smirked.

"And here you've put all of your efforts on just one crazed man. He's after me. Maybe if you want to get the Grand duke's murderer, you could use me as bait." she said, her eyes seemign to laugh.

It pissed off the jailer, though the woman had a point.
"Drag her to the lower level. He won't be able to get to the woman then." ANd then to his men, he added, "And find out just who she is. If she's a nobleman's daughter, I want answers. Do it now!"

Torak noticed the guards with special insignia on their armour. Mordecai! He could kill them and start teleporting. And so with that thought he decapitated one, and felt his magic return slightly. Then he scaled the wall to get another. And another.

Soon enough he had killed a fair amount of mordecai. But there were still so many. The would most likely have a mordecai so powerful he covered the inside of the building. Time to kill that mordecai.

And then he proceeded to drop a small bomb on two guards, who died from the blast. It blew the basement door open and he could now get in to rescue the scout. She was going to die for getting him into this when she was a mere scout.

Down into the basement they dragged her while the rest of the jail erupted into war. Jinai had no idea how she was going to get out of this as she was dragged deep into the bowels of the building. The men were rough and shoved her along, and just as she was nearing hte end of the hall, the side of the building blew up over top, and Jinai and a few of the guards were buried and indistinguishable in the rubble below.

This amount of rubble blocked the mordecai below, and now he could use magic. And the scout was buried under rubble. Trying to remember the incantation, he summoned searching balls of dark magic. For finding targets hiding. Why hadn't he thought of that earlier?! He cursed as the orbs flew into the rubble, and as he dug, Torak slew three of four big guards.

Then he finally helped her out of the rubble. "Five minutes and you get buried and captured. Not good. Take this dagger, and KEEP hold of it." He handed her a demonite dagger, and guided her up the stairs, so he could teleport out.

Then he felt a sudden, huge impact as a mace appeared seemingly out of nowhere, throwing him against a wall, and dazing him.

Jinai was in a daze, her entire body aching, so when the man started to talk to her, she simply blinked and looked up at him, not entirely sure what to make of his presence, or his assistance. Well.. to be fair, she wasn't normally in this much of trouble. Things just escalated pretty fast, and got terribly, terribly out of hand. She looked down at the dagger, blinking before staring over at him. She could stab him in the kidneys for all of the trouble he was worth, and frowned as she attempted to get up, but her leg was twisted and she doubled over, just at the same moment a mace came sailing for Torak's head.

Seeing him nearly fall down the staircase over it, she grit her teeth. Gods... was she even goign to get out of this alive? No matter which way she looked, she knew she'd be hanged for this. Might as well follow that crazy assassin, cause right now, it was them... versus all of the Connlaothian soldiers.

Though she clung back, hesitated, dagger in hand as she tried to think of what to do, but before she kne wit, the guard was nearly beside her, and he hadn't noticed her presence. So she made a quick decision and leaped forward, pressing he dagger to his throat.

"Don't move."
Though the guard was surprised, he was hardly deterred, and used the narrow staircase to his advantage, and slammed himself back, crushing Jinai behind him with his metal armor and her, crushing up like a pancake against the wall with a groan.

"You will pay for that!" the guard shouted, turning around and grabbing the dazed Jinai by the wrist. And she lost her second weapon Torak had given to her, as it clattered to the ground.

OOC: Just... lol.

Torak finally got up, just to see Jinai drop her weapon again. What kind of stupid was she?! He tried to get up and felt the pain of a broken rib. He was seriously doing this? He looked at the dagger, and instead, pulled the old assassin trick.

Quietly reloading his bow, he aimed at the guard, and got him in the leg. Now the guard could have fun for the next five minutes before the poison took effect.

Torak, not feeling any pity for the girl who kept dropping her weapon, tried to tend to his rib. And his dislocated knee. Popping the knee back which a truly sickening crunch, he pushed in on the rib, making sure it was in place enough to walk. Then he sat and watched, ready to shoot if the brute went to do some serious damage.

Now shot in the leg, as the guard doubled over, Jinai wasted no time pushing him the rest of the way down the stairs. It made quite a loud noise, but she wasn't sticking around to see what had become of him as she snatched up the dagger and rushed up the stairs, leaving Torak behind.

Torak noticed Jinai run off. Fine. He had broken a rib and dislocated a knee to help her and she runs off. He wasn't going to save her now. And with that, he got up, and walked out of the jail, limping, using bombs and ranged weapons to kill any threats, eventually reaching the wall, and teleporting through.

He limped to the nearest shady alley, used his blending spell, and limped to a healer, only stopping to remove his armour, and clean all his wounds as best he could.

OOC: Torak is gone now! Jinai can get out now!

What go up, must come down. And running through the entire jail in a skirt and heeled boots was horribly uncomfortable. She was almost cornered, and had it not been for an open window, she would have been taken. So she leaped, trusting fate as she dropped out from the window of the building and landed.. into the massive haystacks residing outside the jail house stables.

Spitting out hay, she looked up from the tower she had fallen from with a laugh, and fell back into the hay and just lay there for a while, thanking the Gods she was alive. The fall had been a thrill. She'd have that high for now, later..s he'd get another. Pulling herself off of the hay stack, she dusted herself off and made quick work in stealing a horse, and took off into the streets, now cloaked in a spare suit from one of the guards. It seemed as if she might get some information anyhow, and redoubled her efforts and headed back towards the palace, inquiring to another guard on duty as to what was going on.

"Seems the new Grand Duke has just been crowned."

And with a frown, she stared over at Palace, her horse moving uneasily beneath her while all of the bells in town began to ring at once. Though while most in the streets cheered, she found herself frowning. She had enough information gathered to realize a lot of dark changes were about to take place. And with a heel pressing into her horse, she moved away from the palace to report. There was no sense in wasting any more time here.
