The marble statuette stood upon a merchants table of goods bearing it's crudely carved eyes down upon the tiny imp.  His fascination with the dog figurine was beginning to border on obsessive, and it made the shop owner nervous.  A demon in your place of business was a bad omen all on its own, having the creature covet your goods was even worse.  The heavy man who owned the store shifted in his seat, visibly uncomfortable by the imps presence for the fifth time this week, each to stop and stare at the little dog.

It wasn't a spectacular carving, with several unrounded edges, and a few of the features of the animal left obscure; it was borderline amateur.  But the little demon seemed captivated by the dog that stood upon three legs, as if it's marble face was staring at him, and him alone.

The shop keeper always felt stressed when the imp was around, and he was about to snap, as the suspense ate him alive.  Every day the imp came he checked inventory to make sure nothing was missing, at least the demon wasn't robbing him, but he could just tell something was going to happen; the creature was just too strange.

"Do you want that statuette?"

It was the first the shop keeper had ever spoken to the imp, and surprised by the sudden change in the mans typical silence when dealing with Hagop the little black demon turned abruptly; startled.

"I havn't decided."

Hagop returned his gaze to the marble dog, and the shop keeper looked on just a little disturbed.  He wanted the creature out; his presence was scaring off business.  So the gruff man stepped out from behind the counter and walked over to the imp who again, jumped, surprised by the mans sudden change in approach.  The shopkeeper picked up the dog and handed it to the imp and pointed towards the door.

"You can have it, just go."

Hagop stared at the figure and rolled it around in his hands as a grin fixed itself upon his face.  He looked up to the shopkeeper as his grin became a smile that spread from nearly ear to ear, and bowed from the waste down; nearly bringing his forehead to the ground.

"Thank you!"  he exclaimed, "Thank you so much!"

The imp turned about-face and darted for the exit with a noticeable spring in his step.  The store clerk looked on with utter confusion lining the features of his face.  What the hell was that all about?
