A fierce windstorm was brewing. If the wind got any stronger right now, it would have started picking up small animals and children. Iceni didn't really mind, at least it wasn't wet and she wasn't in any danger of being picked up by the, wind thanks to her armour. This weather did disturb her a bit though. This was mage weather, the sort of weather you got when nature was out of balance, the sort of whether you got when spells had been cast.

There had been complaints of unnatural phenomena in the countryside surrounding the village and the locals had been strident enough that a small team of Mordecai had been sent in. While the rest of her team busied themselves with whatever tasks needed to be done, Iceni went to the first place she always checked: the local church.  She always checked the churches first for a few reasons.  As much as they were houses of Angsar, they were also houses of gossip. It wouldn't be the first time she got a useful lead from an old lady, who's friend had heard that the milkman had been enchanting his milk. There was another reason, one that was much more significant to Iceni.  Being a righteous mage was an uphill battle, and many failed in their task of remaining untainted. There had been many times marked mages served their churches faithfully until the day tried to destroy the village.

Iceni grimaced at the thought. While she honestly hoped that the marked mages of this church, if there were any, were devout and helpful, she couldn't take the risk to not check the church. She clanked up the stairs to the doorway in her heavy armour. Just as she got under the church eaves, a rain shower started up. Yep, she thought, definitely mage weather. She knocked hard on the door with her gauntleted fist, and waited for someone to answer the door.

Tanith had been cleaning the floors of the church, the mass long over. When the knock on the door came, Tanith startled, making a small cry, straightening rapidly. Heart fluttering, she wondered who it was, a small part of her hoping it was Alexander, but he wouldn't knock like that.

Opening the door, Tanith's mouth opened into a surprised O to see a woman standing there, with the trappings of a Mordecai, "Oh!" Part of her wondered if the woman was here for her, if something had happened.

"P-please come in."

Iceni walked briskly in, not paying too much attention to who had opened the door. It was a neat and tidy little church, and it seemed uninhabited apart from Iceni and whoever had let her in. She walked halfway up the aisle between the pews, taking in the architecture and design before she bowed to the altar and then span on her heels.

As she turned around, she smiled. It was a little forced, but who ever else was in sounded a little nervous, and Iceni didn't want to seem severe just yet. she gave a quick up-to-down of the other person. Iceni was far enough away that a lot of the detail was imperceptible, but she could still see Tanith's ram horns and pointed ears. She was a taken aback by this obvious... divergence from the human norm, but Iceni's grin didn't falter.

"I am Iceni Malakai, of the Mordecai. And you are?"

Tanith stiffened slightly when the woman strode in, not sure what was happening. Her mind was too busy trying to figure out if there was anything that had happened she could be blamed for. Nothing came to mind, but that didn't mean much.

Her voice was a little shaky, though she tried to keep her expression calm, "Tanith, sir. What brings you to our church? Mass has ended for the day..."
