Through the light crowds that ebbed around the marketplace, a pale young woman strolled at a somewhat leisurely pace with a large satchel of groceries strapped across her back. She smiled slightly as she looked up towards the sun that crept through the sky overhead. Her alabaster skin was mostly hidden behind a long hooded dress of a natural tan color with a simple cord belt tied around her waist. She approached the final stop on her shopping route and sighed with a bit of relief that her shopping was almost over. Moving around the last few marketplace patrons that stood between her and her destination, Belafay mumbled a few polite apologies and came into view of the fishseller's stall. She glanced up just in time to see what appeared to be the last of the salmon being sold to a somewhat oddly dressed woman.
As the woman left, Belafay rushed forward and looked feverishly around the stall for another salmon, the only type of fish that her current employer would eat. She asked the stall's owner a few times repeatedly if he had any more of the product, but he seemed too frightened by something to even notice the golem girl. Twisting her white hair somewhat worriedly, Belafay turned and looked past the people that crowded the streets for the woman who had bought the fish. If she didn't get that fish, her employer wouldn't have dinner that night. And if he didn't eat, who knows what he might do to her.
Weaving back through the crowd, Belafay followed the woman into what appeared to be an inn, stopping out of politeness to say hello to an older gentleman who was a good friend of her employer. Entering the main lobby of the inn, Belafay saw the woman and caught up to her quickly before the latter could make it much farther than the door. Tapping the woman on the shoulder, Belafay waited until she turned around to face the golem before giving a slight bow and introducing herself.
"Hello madam, my name is Belafay. It's a pleasure to meet you. I do not mean to be a bother, but I had noticed that you seem to have purchased the last of the salmon from that merchant's stall back there. If it would not be too much trouble for you, I would greatly appreciate it if you would allow me to buy the fish from you. I have more than enough coin to repay you for whatever you spent on it. Or if you would rather, I am a servant by nature and am capable of almost any task that I am asked to perform. I would gladly do whatever work you think would be appropriate payment in return for the fish. My current employer is a very picky eater, you see, and when he wants something particular he gets it. And if he doesn't..."
Belafay didn't even seem to notice that she was rambling until she stopped herself from commenting about how her employer abused her. She remembered how such gossip had hurt the reputation of her lat employer, and didn't want to put another one through that as well. By this time she was twisting her hair fretfully, staring at the woman before her with a pitiable expression in her large, golden colored eyes.
