Charik was so kind! wiping his tears away and taking care of him like this... it was just so amazing! So much more than he deserved! Sureya had been just about to shake his head 'no' and assure Charik that he was fine and needed nothing, when his stomach began making little noises at the mere mention of food. Suri blushed and clutched his tummy, trying to quiet the noises and not pass out from sheer embarrassment.

Instead he ended up nodding slowly, keeping his head down and hiding his bright red face from the naga.

Charik laughed. Well, that was answer enough, he supposed!

"We shall take that as a yes!" he said, moving over to the rope and giving it a tug. A bell chimed, and it wasn't long before a servant scurried into the room, bowing low and awaiting his request.

"Prepare a meal for this one!" he said, then paused, blinked, and looked over at Sureya. "What do you eat?"

After all, he was a bird creature, and birds ate many things. Was he the nut-and-fruit variety, or the carnivorous sort? He probably should have known, given the Toririi populated his jungle, but he had honestly never paid much attention to their feeding habits, and had never needed to until now.

What did he eat? Huh... Sureya wasn't sure how to answer that...

He knew the answer of course! He was an omnivore, he preferred berries, seeds, and things of plant origin, but he ate small bits of meat too. Of course he couldn't hunt and was therefore dependent on others to do so for him, and well basically the meat didn't sit well with him because of that. He felt helpless and he wondered if the animals that were hunted felt just as helpless... but he wouldn't turn his nose up at it either. He would never disrespect his family by doing that.

But how to let lord Charik know this? That he would eat anything that was given to him? He extended his hands out to his sides, palms up, and raised them slightly before letting them fall to his side again. He didn't know if it would convey what he wanted but it was the gesture that came most naturally to him in this circumstance.

Charik tilted his head in confusion. "Hmm...is that a 'you don't know' or a 'you don't care'? Ah! Well, we suppose it doesn't matter either way! We shall have a lovely meal brought to you and if there's anything you can't eat or dislike, simply don't eat it!"

Perfect solution!

Turning to the servant, he beamed a smile his way. "Well, you heard the boy! Have a meal fixed up for him, fit for a god! Poor thing is so skinny," he said, gently poking Sureya in the belly. "We'll just have to fatten him up!"

The servant left to fulfill the order, and Charik motioned to the room. "Now, is there anything else you should need?"

Well he was happy that that was fixed rather easily! Charik truly was a wise and noble god-king.

Sureya couldn't help but squirm a bit as his belly was poked, it tickled! Though a bit of fear and dread washed over him at the thought of being 'fattened up'. Was he not ok the way he was? If he were to gain weight, even his head wings would become utterly useless. The little things folded against his head, crestfallen at the thought.

Suri almost missed Charik's last question but then shook his head profusely to make up for it. Charik had given him so much already, what else could he possibly need?

Charik laughed. "Oh, there surely must be something. This room is bare and meant to be personalized! Surely there's something you want, something that could make this space more 'you'? Or at least feel more at home."

He rubbed his chin in thought. "What did you like to do at your old home?"

Sureya pondered over that for a moment. What did he like to do? He wasn't good at anything. None of the arts good and suitable husbands should practice came to him easily, despite his older brothers and father's instruction. Suri kept trying to be better at them, to be useful, to be good... but what did he actually like doing?

Painting was alright... crafting and tinkering was mostly just frustrating, preening was a waste of time because nothing would ever make him pretty enough... but, oh!

Sureya pursed his lips as best he could and put his hands up like he was playing a flute, a soft whistle even came forth like a small chirp. He wasn't very good at it, but he liked to try and play his father's flute when he was smaller, they gave up trying to teach him figuring it was too hard for him to play since he couldn't even speak, but maybe now he could learn. Maybe he could teach himself.

Of course it was so impertinent of him to ask Lord Charik for a flute.

It took Charik a moment to figure out what Sureya was miming, but once that note came out, it clicked into place. Charik perked up, fangs flashing in a grin, and held up a finger.

"Ah! An instrument, correct? A flute, or something like it? You like to play music? So you're not fully mute after all!"

Going to where a golden silk cord hung from the ceiling, Charik gave it a tug to set a bell ringing. Shortly after, a servant rushed into the room, bowing.

"Find this boy a flute!" Charik said, and received an exasperated look from the servant before she could contain it. But just as quickly as the expression appeared, she smoothed out her features, bowed again with a, "Yes, my Lord," and swept back out of the room.

Did they have instruments in the palace? Hm. Charik wasn't actually sure. Oh well! If not, surely his servants would find one! They always fulfilled his requests, one way or another.

"Anything else?"
