The kaadir was a young one, only just reaching maturity at two years old. Eta affectionately called him Sunshine for the bright yellow color of his scales, and he had become one of her favorites to work with. He was intelligent and inquisitive but also gentle--all good traits in a kaadir--and he was picking up his training quickly. Eta had even managed to teach him a few extra tricks to amuse the crowds as she took him out for a walk around the city, to get him some exercise and show him off.

Because it wouldn't be long before he was up to be bought, so prancing him around the city was a good way to get him some attention.

Dressed in a long kilt, sandals, and a simple wrap around her chest for support, Eta walked beside the creature--who was now far taller than her at six feet--as she lead him by the reins. Here and there the kaadir paused to sniff something, but a gentle tug at the reins had him focusing again and following after her.

Things were going rather well! It was a lovely day, and so far, there had been no unfortnate mishaps--like the time Sunshine had decided to plant his face in a fruit stand. That had been awkward. But until he was trained well enough to handle those urges, she would be avoiding the market!

Yes indeed, things were going well.

Until Eta turned her back to say hello to a friend.

She hadn't looked away more than five seconds before a commotion drew her attention away, her startled friends pointing numbly, and when Eta looked back at Sunshine...

"Oh, goddess! NO! Bad Sunshine! Bad! That is not how we say hello!" Eta cried in mortification, pulling at his reins.

...Yeah, the kaadir had thrust his scaly nose straight into some unfortunate person's crotch.

Clouds upon clouds of dust, even on a market... Well, Scatha always saw Essyrn as a very, very dusty city, full of the sand from the deserts that encircled it. And before she finished shopping, she was already shaking it out of her scruffy red hair, blown into a halo by the wind once again.

More dust arose beneath her feet as she walked back from the market, taking the long road around, to enjoy the early morning while she could. She hasn't been a freed slave for long... Such freedom was extraordinary for her, and she was still just starting to taste it. A wonderful feeling to walk around the town without any orders.

She stopped to admire a piece of jewelry - which she may not have ever worn herself, but she could sure appreciate a few nice gems - when she sensed something warmer than air by her thighs.

And all of a sudden, there was a kaadir's muzzle right in her butt! Her remaining eye popped out, and her face paled, as she slowly turned around, pulling her legs together as tightly as she could, with a petrified expression. The kaadir's owner seemed just as distressed as the gladiator was horrified - and stressed.

Scatha didn't manage to get anything but an awkward stare out of herself, peering at Sunshine and Eta with hardly a single wink.

Vuvocikela looked around the Essyrni marketplace. It was as dry here as it was the other side of the Jungle-lands. Just sand and sand-houses for as far as he could see, and he smiled. It was a new place, filled with new people and things to see.

He went round the stalls, taking notes of new objects he'd not seen, and sketching them into his journal, curious as to what some of them did.

Some vendors sold rare gems, and other precious metals, while others sold food and plants. Some sold weapons, leather armour and other instruments of fighting, and one or two even sold people. He took notes on the practices, abruptly asking curious questions, and prompting some weird looks from some stall owners.

He carried on walking until he noticed something strange. It was a small beast, with golden scales. And it appeared to have it's snout between another woman's legs. He watched with unmatched attentive curiosity, and began to sketch the beast, before he decided he didn't know what to call the creature, and realised he would need a new word for it. So he figured borrowing their word wouldn't hurt.

He approached the woman holding the reigns and abruptly broke the silence, his raspy, hissing voice clear and loud.

"Excuse me, what is scale-beast's name?"

Eta's brown skin was flushed red with horror, especially when she realized the woman Sunshine had decided to sniff was an obvious warrior of some sort! Or maybe she was just terribly unlucky and clumsy. But Eta was assuming she was a warrior from her scars and missing eye. Great. Just great.

Tugging against Sunshine's reins, Eta drew the beast away from the woman and gave him a soft tap on the nose to get his attention. "Sunshine, no. Bad. No sniffing!" she told him while he blew air sharply out his nostrils, as though disappointed. Eta pet his long snout and shook her head. "Sniffing hands is okay. Crotches? No. Behave."

And then, turning to the woman with an embarrassed grimace, she pushed her bangs out of her eyes. "Please, accept my apologies. He's still in training," she explained with a low sigh. "He didn't mean any harm; young kaadir are very curious, and it's just how they interact with the world. Smell is very important to them, and--"

She cut off her educational lesson, because that was when a hissing voice grabbed her attention, and when she turned to look...

Eta froze. And stared. If he had asked her a question, it was obvious she she hadn't registered it, because she was too busy gaping at the humanoid creature that loomed before her.

Vuvocikela realised that he had just interrupted a conversation, and his neck frills rippled in embarrassment at the rude interruption. Then he decided that he was probably scaring the woman with his outlandish appearance, and decided to introduce himself.

"My name Vuvocikela, I am the foreign." Vuvocikela's weak grasp on common became readily apparent, and he clicked his two jaw halves, and flicked his tongue, testing the air. Then as he examined the Kaadir more closely, pulled out his journal and began sketching details he hadn't already caught.

"Sorry about interrupt, what is scale-beast's name?" Vuvocikela didn't realise the syntax of Common would mean he was actually asking what the individual was called, not the species, which was what he was more interested in.

He had his journal out ready to write the name of the creature down in it, his squid ink pen unique in it's ability to store ink in the pen itself.

Scatha was somewhere between rage, shame, and surprise - she was struck speechless by the sudden flow of events. First, this woman starts explaining her things about Kaadir like a teacher. And then this... Lizard-man just walks in!

She stared just as silently as till then, observing the unusual tool in the foreigner's hand, and her brow furrowed a little. It seemed to work in a strange way she couldn't explain...

The kaadir has begun to smell her hand in the meantime. She gave him a curious look, and lifted the hand he seemed to be so interested about, patting his head, and watching the conversation between his owner, and the reptilian stranger.

Vaguard was strolling through the dusty streets with three thick books tucked under his arm. He was on his way with purpose to the Grand Library, after all of his experience kaadir whispering there where still things he did not know. His long tangling , greasy hair blew gently in the wind and the coolness of that wind felt good on his chin length bread, however maybe it was too hot to wear leather clothes and gloves but Vaguard was slightly on the paranoid side...You never know when a beat may bite. On the side of his hip he always carried his half moon medium sized blade that was...slightly rust but with a big of oil drew out of its scabbard well.

In the distance Vanguard could see a group of people and a Kaadir. "Can't hurt to say hello" thought Vaguard.

Vaguard gently knelt down next to the Kaadir and stroked the Kaadire gently. Then with piercing eyes he looked at Eta and said with fear "There's danger".

Hjaldi rounded the corner looking seeing what lay before him. and man with a couple books and a blade drawn as a creature lay before him. "By the gods what do i look see before me?!" Hjaldi instantly shot his hands to his blades. Hjaldi took a step forward looming over the man "Speak now, and explain this what i see!" Hjaldi spoke threat loomed in his voice and he was ready to strike if he fled. Hjaldi's blades were easily larger then the mans and he was fairly curtain that if there was no magic in the blade he could snap it with a right strike to it! "Well?..." Hjaldi looked down and waited for the man to answer him. Hjaldi could also sense something was off though... He knew what he had walked in on could easily be wrong but if not he would be open for an attack.

"Please sir calm down" Vaguards voice quivered. "You'l upset her...she senses something is wrong, so it is not me you should point your blade at but something we cannot see". Vaguard announced "Would anyone like to come with me and seek the danger"...It just hit him what a strange request this was.

Then a sharp cold wind blew and clouds started to gather across the sky...

Still staring in alarm at the strange humanoid, Eta had been about to muster up a response when...

Things got pretty weird.

A greasy-haired man approached she and her kaadir and stated there was danger, shortly followed by a giant of a man that proceeded to confront him. Uh. Eta blinked and tugged lightly on Sunshine's reins to get him to back up and away from the two strangers as they spoke utter nonsense.

"Actually, if you'd be so kind not to put words in my mouth, the only thing I sense is my own irritation," Eta said tersely, annoyed this man would think her so fragile as to be so easily upset. "Now if you'd be so kind not to touch my kaadir without permission, I'd appreciate that. He's still in training." And though the kaadir was rather used to crowds now, people swarming him could still make him uneasy.

Tossing a look to the strange humanoid--with mandibles!--Eta said, "His name is Sunshine. Apologies for the rude greeting," she added, that statement directed toward the woman. "Now if you don't mind, I must be going."

And with that said, she lightly pulled on Sunshine's reins to turn him before she headed down the street and was soon swallowed by the milling crowd.

[ooc: Eta's out of the thread now, but feel free to continue it without her, of course! <3]
