The Serenian people can be quite a colorful sort, and Elysia takes after her father in that regard – at least when it comes to her hair, which is fine, straight, the color of a clear summer sky, and highlighted with silver the shade of starlight. When she was young her mother kept the gorgeous hair long and silky, but now most of it has been cut off in a choppy, pixyish mess that barely reaches her chin; an overall flattering look for her.

A sweet, round face is dominated by a pair of large grey eyes reminiscent of storm clouds sitting above high cheekbones, a button nose, and a small mouth with slightly thin lips. Her eyebrows are thin with a delicate arch, sharing the same sky blue and silver color as her hair. Frustratingly she finds most compliments directed at her to be adorable. She'll never be looked at and considered sensual, sexy, or even gorgeous. Nope, she has arbitrarily been cursed to be cute.

Her pale, porcelain doll skin and tiny bone structure does nothing to diminish that assessment. Elysia is a very small girl, not only in height, but in figure. Much to her disappointment she did not inherit her mother's Connlaothian figure at all. Instead her body is very slim with only subtle feminine curves, unlike her voluptuous mother.



CLOTHING, GEAR, AND JEWELRY
When it comes to fashion Elysia has rather unusual and eclectic tastes. In her travels she's encountered all manner of styles from the different cultures. Usually she'll try to wear costumes and outfits that are at least somewhat indigenous to her location, but often times she'll add her own flare to her appearance. Shades of blue and grey are her favorite.



PERSONALITY
Upbeat, optimistic, adventurous, and maybe a little naïve – Elysia is a sweet, gentle woman that ultimately just wants to have some fun and explore all that life has to offer. She's very vibrant and caring, often helping people just because it makes her feel good to do nice things for other people – even if only throwing a few spare coins in a beggar's cup.



SKILLS

Talents/skills:

Singing: Elysia has a very lovely singing voice, and took singing lessons most of her young life.

Story-telling: She knows a very great many folktales and legends.

Lute & Flute: She trained extensively on both instruments, but is a little better with her lute.

Juggling: Might not seem like a huge deal, but she loves juggling and knows a lot of tricks with them

Dancing: Elysia took lessons in various kinds of dancing. It is something she really enjoys, especially when there is music that she doesn't have to play.

Acrobatics: Tumbles, cartwheels, back flips, and more! She's extremely flexible and enjoys pushing herself to perform new and impressive feats. Just recently she learned to walk on a tightrope!

Magic Abilities:

Storm Mage: The magical talent runs strong in her family. Like her father and oldest brother, Elysia was born with innate magical potential – most notably with air, water, and lighting, making her a formidable force with weather magic. She can conjure storms, lighting, rain, hail, and gusts of wind. Most of her ability lies with lighting, however.



COMBAT

Peaceful or aggressive attitude? Generally speaking, Elysia doesn't condone violence. Physical violence is really not something she's good at. The best she might be able to manage is to hit someone or something with a blunt object. Even if she had a blade in her hand she probably wouldn't be able to bring herself to stab or cut someone. She can sure give a person a good zap if provoked, though!

Fighting skills/techniques: Magic is really her best offense and defense all rolled into one.

Special skills: Magic and her acrobatics, perhaps?

Weapon of choice (if any): She really doesn't use weapons, except her magic.

Weaknesses in combat: Iron is disruptive of her magic. An iron collar and iron shackles can completely block her ability to channel even the tiniest amounts of magic. If cut, or heaven forbid stabbed, by iron it would not only be incredibly painful, but the iron would work like poison and potentially kill her in a very slow and agonizing way.

Strengths in combat: Elysia's magic can be quite potent and deadly. However she would much rather avoid or run from conflict.



FAMILY, FRIENDS AND FOES

Parents names:

Larkin Merryweather: A scholarly storm mage from Ravensway, he works in one of the mage colleges in Arca. He has two younger brothers.

Amara Oakdale: Connlaothian born to a merchant family, she was the youngest of four daughters. Her father was teaching her the family business, and during a trip to Arca, she met and fell in love with Larkin – a mage from one of the colleges. She stayed in Serendipity to marry him and start a family.

Are parents alive or dead?  Both are alive and well, living in a comfortable home near the college that her father works for as a teacher.

Is the character still in contact with their parents? Elysia sends letters home when she can, and her parents write to her when they know where she'll be.

Siblings? Relationship with siblings?

Icarus Merryweather: Oldest brother, she gets along with him well enough! He feels somewhat protective of her and she looks up to him. He also works for the college and is a storm mage.

Neville Merryweather: Second oldest brother, they care for each other, but Elysia finds Neville too serious and kind of bossy. He disapproves of her travels so far from home. He was not born with magical potential and learned business from their mother.

Other Relatives: She has three aunts on her mother's side, and their husbands, but they live in Connlaoth and because she is a mage has never met them. She probably has a whole mess of cousins on that side of the family, but again, she's never met any of them!

On her father's side there are two uncles, their wives, and eight cousins! They live in another part of Serendipity from her parents, but she's visited them and they've visited her. The family lives in relative harmony overall.

Partner/Spouse: Jirou Asami - Accidentally ended up hitched to him at a mass Thanati wedding. Whoops.

Children: Definitely too young to be thinking about those! Children are far too much responsibility for a woman her age and a wanderer at that. Maybe once she's tired of exploring and settles down with someone she really loves they will have some kids together.



BACKSTORY
Born and raised in Serendipity, with a mage father and Connlaothian mother, Elysia has been surrounded by magic since the day she was born. From early childhood her abilities were nurtured and allowed to flourish. Her passion for the entertaining arts was also obvious from a tender age and with encouragement from her father and many tutors, she has grown into both an accomplished mage and an ambitious bard.

At age seventeen she left home and began traveling the world, seeking adventure and chasing wild tales and legends.
