Virtue, Forever Fickle [Lion]

Seeming vaguely surprised by the extra shove, though she had already moved away- she couldn't help but feel a twinge of hurt. There was no way for everyone to win in a situation to win- furrowing her brow, she nodded in silence, quickly retreating from the tent. She took a moment to stand in the cool, silent night- gazing at the tent... Maybe in another life, maybe if she could... Let go of loyalty, she could find really happiness with him- but she couldn't- not now... Maybe never- but perhaps... Something could be done to help him.

Morning came, the sun searing away the dew of night...
The men prepared, set up fortresses and swept aside stragglers outside the mines as much as they were able- the night would bring the truest battle...
The sun would fall, dipping beneath the peaks...

Hakon sat astride Purgatorio, gazing down at the mines in silence, watching as the first frenzied shapes began to filter out, only to be cut down by a few arrows, well placed shots... It was quite impressive, her longbowmen seemed drilled quite well...

Mercuxio was ready, whatever happened. Wine and sleep had drifted away any dregs of doubt and shame and guilt that might have lingered behind. He was himself, and the plated steel of his armor, now repaired and reinforced, fit well over him. As he emerged from his tent, he gazed down to his side, the etched and deteriorated ends of his mace, hanging on his belt. 

It was hungry.

Yet to mount Titus, he drew his horse over to Hakon's side and looked up and out to the mines.  "Are you expecting a full-frontal assault? What if they don't come?" he murmured.   "I just have that thought that for all our forces, we might have to go inside those mines to draw your brother out. That is his haven, why come out into the fray?"
