It would seem odd to passersby- that fact was not in doubt. Huge, intimidating black wings of feather-shaped scales and adorned with scythelike talons, normally held high and proud, now askew and splayed awkwardly about, half crooked and in the air. A warrior stripe of auburn hair, usually neat and controlled, now ruffled and unkempt. A slender, beautiful girl covered in dirt and odorous goo. A steady, increasingly loud and angry stream of profanities flowed from her lips like a waterfall of temper, aimed at the large beast that is coated in the slime like a second skin, stuck fast to the ground despite his size. Varancael was on her back, the verdant tar causing her to stick to the earth. Her wings tried to flail, but only succeeded in getting more entombed in the material. She was getting very, very upset. Normally she was calm and collected, but she and her mount had been trapped for three hours, and she was aching and pissed off and exhausted. She glared at the creature with green and crimson eyes full of reproach.
"You imbecile!" she hissed, baring pointed canines. "They weren't flowers, Aethrin! Not. Flowers!"
She was referring to the humongous plants that surrounded the pit, each giant. They were still tucked tightly together, not blooming. They were nocturnal. As soon as night fell, they would reap the bounties of their trap. Namely, Varancael and Aethrin. Knowing that their time was running short as darkness advanced, the winged nymph increased her efforts, grunting in pain and frustration- for as soon as she managed to lift a limb a foot or so from the muck, it would snap back to the ground like a rubber band. Her muscles were in dull agony, mind foggy from tiring herself out. She roared hoarsely into the winds, letting her anger blow up in a primal scream of rage. She would be damned if after all her years on this world, she would be bested by plants. With this thought in mind, she resumed her daunting task, praying that just this once, the day would last a little bit longer.

(open for all! I don't mind any sort of plot <3 I think a romance would be cute tho if you would like :)

Amongst the usual bustling of the busy jungle around the pit, there was a shadow that moved. It was somewhat large, moving quickly on the lowest branches of the towering jungle trees. It moved in ever closer to the ensnared duo, drawn in by the cacophony of commotion that was erupting from them.

As it neared, all that could occasionally be seen was the distinct black and orange patterned pelt of one of the most feared wildcats of the jungle. A tiger.

The figure closed in on the source of the sound, and circled the perimeter from a safe distance. From the occasional moments it was exposed, it seemed to merely observe the two in their predicament. Yet, its plans remained a mystery.
