He was not there for entertainment, well, he was put there as entertainment, as an animal that humanoids would fight, but his own purpose was that of meat, to quell his hunger. Considering his hunger, he pretended to be weak, the growling of the stomach was real and therefore his act was believable. Anyone who knew how to use their brain could see that it was an act, that he was more then an animal, then happened something which could negate such toughts.
When the human, in the center of the colloseum with him, thought that Fang was easy prey, fang used this weakness in his prey. He pounced him until he couldn't fight back, then biting his leg and pulling him into his cave, leaving both nails and bloody trail behind him. Once in the privacy of his own cage he dugg into the person, to sate his hunger, the screams ended long after the next fight begun.
