The village she was currently staying at was still sleeping when Tikaani slipped out of the plush tent she'd made her home and picked her way down to the seashore, thick furs bundled around her form. It was still dark out, though the sun was beginning to rise and cast just enough light to see by, but for her it was the perfect hour. Few people would be out and about, the ocean was calm and still. It was just her and the sea; just her and her true home.

She walked along the shore for some time before she reached the cliffs where she had stored her skin the night before. Pulling it out from a deep crevice, she unrolled it, smoothed out the crinkles, and for a moment just relished in the familiar smell and feel of it, the sense of connectedness, of wholeness. It was getting more and more difficult, wandering the tundra and spending less time at sea, and she relished these moments.

Shedding her clothes--her human skin, in a sense--she slipped back into her sealskin and took to the sea.

She lost track of time, hunting fish the old fashioned way, enjoying the taste of raw meat, and when Tikaani returned the sun had risen almost completely. Fish guts! She had lost track of time! The village would be awake and moving now, and if she wasn't quick, things could get awkward fast.

Reaching the shore, she waddled her way onto land, dragging her body through the sand, and began to wriggle free of her her skin--which looked easier than it was, for it was a tight fit. She kicked free of it, hissing at how bloody cold it was as a naked, hairless human, grabbed it and rolled it up quickly, and then scrambled for her clothes to dress.

Vosk had only recently awoken from a hundred year sleep. The memories from the other Everwoods were being sorted in his roots. He could see them sorting themselves as he picked up pace from the memories of his dream state. It took time, but over the past two months he had managed to sort a majority of the hundred years. The sleep had left him well rested and sleep was no longer a necessity for him. He would not need to rest again for many many ages. His nights were left to wondering the wilds.

He had awoken in Hyoite and had since been wondering the various new establishments in order to record historical changes to the land. His human form was fitted for the Hyoite region but resembled his most preferred young male form closely. He fashioned his eyes to be of a lighter green hue, and his skin to be sandier. The hair on his head still hung long in its almond brown color, and his age resembled a young adult male.

For thousands of years, Vosk had wondered the world alone. He was oddly fond of his human form, but something far from a human being. The truth behind his fair flesh was secrets of the origins of every species. Vosk was a man of endless knowledge, and with that, there was hardly a thing in the world he had never seen. This included the shedding of a Selkie. He knew more about their kind that most of the human world, and it was a truth that they commonly walked among them, returning to the see to express the freedom of their kind.

Vosk did not blind as he saw the naked body of the seal reveal itself as it shed the blubbering skin on the sand. The body of the woman did not even strike him. He stood at the edge of the waves and watched her dress into her human skin and then into the clothes of their kind. There was neither interest nor disinterest on his face. He only saw her as another living form.

The Everwood had no physical wants, not they were incapable, but to Vosk there were no stirrings and to the same extent no curiosity. However, being in his human male form could often cause him issues in situations such as this, and out of habit he bowed his head in respect, gesturing an apology for his supposed "peak." He respected the wishes of the other races and a commonality of the Selkie was to keep their human life and their sea life separate.

He walked calmly up to her, the wood of his staff digging into the soft sand and his footprints leaving their mark behind him. His voice called out, warm and inviting. "You're secret is safe with me, Selkie." He bowed slightly, placing his arm on his abdomen. There was a pause in his voice as he looked at her.

Vosk played the part of a hopeless traveler. The Everwoods were an ancient race, but quite small in their number. Like the Selkie they preferred to hide among the normality of the humans. "The village up the way," he eyed the village up the coast and then returned his sight back to her; "There is lodging, yes?" Vosk knew the answer to this. The village had been settled at the coast here for nearly a hundred years. If there wasn't lodging then his memories were not correctly recorded in his roots.

A voice called out right as Tikaani was busily throwing on her layers of clothes, and she went stiff with a spike of terror right as she was wriggling into her breeches. Dark eyes wide, she snapped a look at the man she hadn't seen approach, her skin paling. There wasn't supposed to be anyone here. She hadn't seen anyone here! She had looked! It was supposed to be safe!

For a moment, her throat was too tight to breathe, panic clawing at her chest as she tried to think what her next move should be. Grab her skin and hold onto it for dear life, then run, run as far and fast as she could and hide, wait, shed her human clothes and slip back into her seal skin and vanish into the waves at the first opportunity. But she felt slow and clumsy as a human on land, and surely he could catch her if--

His words finally caught up to her racing thoughts.

Her secret was safe with him?

She slowed her thoughts, blinked slowly at him. He wasn't even looking at her; his head was down. He'd even bowed to her! Oh. She let a slow breath out and swallowed. Okay. Maybe this wasn't a crisis...?

With another slow breath, she finished lacing her breeches, then pulled a shirt over her head. Her thick coat, made from deer hide and lined with rabbit fur, soon followed. "Ah, yes. It's that way," she said with a nod, wincing at the small squeak in her voice. She quickly fastened her coat and then snatched up her skin, holding it tightly to her chest.

"There's lodging and...er..." She cleared her throat awkwardly, head cocked. "Heh. Sorry, this is sort of awkward! You're...really not gonna tell anyone about this?"
