Selona sighed as she made her way to a village lining Thanatos' jungle edge to buy her mother some special herbs for preventing child birth. There was a hedgewitch there who's particular formula had never failed her customers. The magic in it lasted five years, which made it extremely convenient and the witch charged a fair price. The nice thing about this backwater town was that no one knew who Selona was there. So long as she didn't openly talk about her job, she was just another normal civilian and she was going to take full advantage of being able to walk amongst the populace with her head held high for once.

Selona made her way into town and couldn't help overhearing some of the town gossip. Most of it was general and unremarkable, but the talk of a strange monster being seen in and around the woods had her wondering if she shouldn't make this trip short and pure business, even despite having wanted to linger and possibly get a drink in town. Unfortunately in a world like this, monster could mean anything from a vaguely deformed bunny rabbit to a god that could destroy you with a glance.

Selona bought the birth control potion and made her way back through the town, the road leading back to the Port of Jin'ta took her through the woods, and Selona was always armed with at least a knife if only for the sake of her own personal comfort. She knew very well that a knife would do very little against a god or even a witch. Selona paused as she thought she heard something nearby, the villagers' talk of a monster making her wonder if she shouldn't start running. If however, the rustling was merely a bunny rabbit... Selona decided she didn't much care either way and kept walking as she was, only pausing when she could've sworn she'd seen a person in the woods.

Was someone following her? Selona cautiously gripped her knife, once again regretting that she held no power nor special ability to help her.

One foot up. One foot down. One foot up. One foot down. One foot up...

It was an interesting body, to say the least. It had four legs, but two of them were... different. Not used for walking, that much was certain. They seemed to be for gripping things, which made sense in a way- this creatures mouth was very small, and was in too awkward a position on the body to be used for holding anything.

One foot up. One foot down. One foot up. One foot down. One foot up...

The odd number of functional legs made walking a challenge, of course. Uttara's body moved jerkily through the brush, it's controllers trying desperately to keep it balanced. The corpse's footsteps were slow and halting, with seemingly no regard for where it was going. It's two eyes moved independantly of eachother, keeping watch- both for predators, and for more of whatever Uttara was.

One foot up. One foot down. One foot up. One foot... There.

Visible through the dense thicket there was another two-footed body, this one still living. Uttara moved forwards purposefully, stumbling over itself in it's eagerness to greet it's fellow... thing. Maybe this one wouldn't flee as if Uttara was a predator. Maybe.

Emerging from the brush and onto an oddly bare strip of land, the corpse stopped and stared at the animal. Uttara's arm's were stiff at her sides, her jaw slack. What was once curly hair was matted with twigs and branches. An odd smell wafted off of the corpse- not quite death, but similar. An arm was raised, and shook back and forth in a bizarre mockery of a wave hello. Digging through the fragments of memories that were left of it's host, Uttara opened her mouth and spoke in a strange, gravelly voice.

"Helloooo..."

Selona knew it was rude to stare but there was no way in hell she could look away. This woman, or thing, was indeed a monstrosity but yet... Selona didn't feel like she was necessarily in danger from it. If what Selona was seeing was real and not some hallucination or magical illusion, the being in front of her was merely overrun by ants? Selona had no clue what to make of any of it, and she wondered if this could possibly be a demon. She sure as hell didn't want to end up infested with ants or possessed or whatever had happened to this poor creature, but at the same time, she'd always been the curious sort.

Selona gripped her knife tightly, watching the infested woman in wary interest, taking particular note of the smell and making sure to remain outside the creature's reach. If need be, she could run as the creature seemed to move rather slowly. It appeared to be almost unused to walking so Selona had a good feeling she could get away if she had to. When the creature spoke in that twisted mockery of human speech, Selona almost lost her bravery and ran anyway, but she remained where she was, looking over the creature slowly, "... hello?" she offered hesitantly in return, unsure of what the proper etiquette was for a situation like this.

"I hope you don't mind my asking but... what exactly happened to you?" Selona knew it was probably extremely rude to mention but she couldn't help it. After all, it wasn't every day that a woman overrun by insects waved at you. Selona also got the feeling that whatever this insect creature was, it probably didn't give much of a shit about the social mores of Thanatos in general. Then again, what the hell did she know? She'd never seen anything like this particular beast before and it was... fascinating.

Both of corpse's eyes focused on the creature's body, obseeving it's reaction. An unconscious jolt when she spoke... A hand tightening it's grip on some sort of shiny stick...  And then the words, what did these words mean? The colony dug into the fragments of Uttara's psyche, looking for the correct response...

Uttara Vaishnavi threw the front door open, soaking wet. Walking through the house, the young girl searched for something- anything- she could use to dry off. Finally, the girl found a dishcloth in the kitchen, and would begin to dry off her hair.

"I hope you don't mind my asking, but..." Uttara's older brother had stepped into the room, arms crossed. "What exactly happened to you?"

Uttara grinned. "Got pushed off the dock." she said breathily. "It was an accident, Vinzi didn't mean to..."

One corner of Uttara's mouth lifted itself up. A few seconds later, the other corner followed. An ant crawled out of the corpse's nose, circling it's mouth before re-entering through the ear. "Got pushed off the dock." came the raspy voice. "It was an accident, Vinzi didn't mean to..."
