   Vexian memories
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Vex had called out to her only moments ago; the Matriarch Mistress had summoned her.
And so Namay responded with all due swiftness. She ran quickly towards the source of the call through the moonlit streets of Serendipity.
In fact, two of her companions, her sister in arms, Suriyas, and her bondman, James, had trouble keeping up.

-James was a human, and looked like he was in his late twenties or early thirties. He had brown hair that was pulled back into a ponytail and green eyes and an amiable face. He wore a tan overcoat that extended down to his knees, brown pants, a belt with a large gold buckle, black boots, a white buttoned shirt, a small black vest, a red kerchief around his neck, and a black cowboy hat as well.
-Namay's skin tone was a darker shade of blue than Christanos's. Her hair was pure white (hence her alias "Snow") and extended down slightly past her shoulders, curving up somewhat at the ends. Like most dark elves, Namay had red eyes, but she wore an eyepatch over her left one. Her attire was relatively simple and consisted of a clingy white robe, two belts (one horizontally across her waist, the other hanging diagonally), and a silk, light teal, long sleeved and wide cuffed shirt that she wore open.
-Suriyas appeared as a youth between 18 and 20. She had spikey black hair that hung sort of lifelessly from her head and almost touched her shoulders in length and bright red eyes (a trait inherent to most dark elves). However, she retained the 'Peachskin' of her partial human heritage, her skin color being of fair complexion common of humans rather than the generally darker tones found among dark elves.
Suriyas wore a buttoned, turtle-neck blue tunic (with the sleeves rolled up to her elbows) that had two chest pockets on it where her bosom was. She didn't tuck the tunic into her matching blue trousers, however, and given that she wore a thick belt over it, the bottom portion of the tunic under the belt gave the appearance of being a short skirt. Also, she wore brown boots and had black cloth gloves on.

!!!!
As it turned out, however, it would be Vex who would reach her first.
Namay skid to a halt on a quiet, relatively empty street of Serendipity when she saw a cloud of shadows taking form in front of herself. She recognized the anomaly instantly: a manifestation of Dark Hand magic. Not long after the cloud formed, it soon dissipated.
Christanos Vex was there once the darkness was gone, crouching on her knees and holding a hand over her eyes...
Namay's eyes, usually utterly soulless and lacking of emotion to the core, lit up with apprehension and surprise: Christanos was hurt quite badly. She was bleeding all over her body from dozens of small cuts and gashes and nearly her entire face below her forehead was stained with her own flowing blood.
"Matriarch Mistress!" Namay exclaimed. Like her eyes before, she actually put some life into her voice when she spoke.
"Namay..." Christanos spoke bitterly. "You were late."
She immediately fell to one knee before Vex and lowered her head, saying quickly and quietly, "Ten thousand apologies, Matriarch Mistress. Blesnai vah. Blesnai vah. Blesnai vah."
It was about that time that Suriyas and James managed to catch up to Namay.
"My Vex?" Suriyas prompted-
"Mistress Vex?" asked James-
!!!!
Namay abruptly drew her katana, whirled around, and wielded it against her comrades, saying acidically, "Do not approach Vex."
!!!!
Suriyas and James immediately stopped in their tracks, lest they be impaled upon Namay's sword.
"Whoa there!" James exclaimed as he put his hands up into the air slightly and gawked down at his Mistress' sword. "She's hurt. I reckon that we get her some help and-"
"Silence," Namay interjected dryly.
"Namay!" Christanos roared, obviously not pleased with her minion. "Stand down!"
Namay's red eyes flashed black for a split second and the dark elf sheathed her katana with incident.
James breathed easy now that her sword was no longer pointed at him.
Suriyas stepped forward cautiously and knelt down, looking over the multitudes of Christanos' wounds. "Maivex?"
"Step away from me, Suriyas," Christanos ordered flatly, and she did as told. Vex then, somewhat uncharacteristically shakily, held her hand up and instructed, "Take my hand, Namay."
Once again, Namay's eyes flashed black for a fraction of a second. After so, she did exactly what Christanos ordered her to do: she took a hold of her hand and helped her up to her feet.

   And enter Vex number 2
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Damn Neelam, damn stupid human men, damn them all! Vex's thick soled boots weren't suitable for anything that involved moving faster than walking speed. Her skirt was worse, the band of black cloth wasn't even suitable for walking, and as she sprinted after Suriyas and James she was constantly reaching down to keep the cursed garment from shifting its position. Thus, she ended the little train of Mistress Vex's servants that raced through Serendipity.

The demon looked human enough, appearing about the same age as Suriyas, with bronzed skin and a mop of silvery hair that danced around her shoulders. Her eyes were a swirl of pale blue and bright red that danced all around each other but never quite met to become violet. To her great pleasure her shirt wasn't as laden with difficulties as her skirt and boots. The pale pink garment clung to her torso, the sleeves loose and flowing with the section that would have covered the shoulders cut out. If anything, that would be her biggest complaint about the shirt, it prominently displayed the brand on her right arm. A stylized eye with a flaming pupil over a cross shaped block of writing in a dash-like alphabet.

Vex slowed down when Suriyas and James screeched to a halt, her eyes widening when she heard them ask about Mistress Vex. She crept forward a little and stood on her toes to see what they saw. Namay threatening them with her katana and - a dizzy spell washed through Vex - Matriarch Mistress Vex, bloody, beaten! She watched silently, biting her bottom lip somewhat. Mistress Vex...who would do such a thing to her?

"We...we must find a secure place for the Vex to rest!" Suriyas exclaimed.
James, a little quicker to the draw than usual, answered to Suriyas with, "I've been around these parts before, and I gots some friends in a hotel over yonder." He indicated with his finger further down the street.
Namay, while helping Christanos to stand and walk (who was still steadfastly covering her eyes with her hand), asked her, "Is this acceptable, Mistress Vex?"
"Yes, yes. Let us make haste and perhaps you could redeem yourself, Namay!" she snapped, obviously in a foul mood.
Quickly, Namay relayed to her bondman, "Lead, James."
He nodded his head and touched the brim of his hat with a finger, "Yes, Namay-sama."
Without wasting an instant, James started rather hastily towards the inn he had stored in his memory. Namay and Christanos followed close behind him, though Suriyas hung back the furthest, keeping her head low.
Luckily, James' indicated inn was not too terribly long a walk away, only two minutes top at the speed at which James was going. Already James had slipped in through the front door while Namay and Christanos stayed and waited outside, Suriyas catching up to them a moment later.

As the rest of Mistress Vex's servants pondered what to do Vex was busy thinking of some way she could make herself useful. The last thing she wanted was to be labeled useless. Then she'd be on her own, and it was decidedly safer to be with a group, especially if she had another superior to protect their investment of time and trust. Trouble was, Mistress Vex probably didn't think she would be worth fighting for if Neelam decided to get her back. She'd have to make herself useful, which put her right back on square one.

When the group took off toward James' hotel she quickly fell in behind Namay and Christanos, though she lost ground somewhat when she slowed to pull on the hem of her skirt - the damnedable thing. When they got to the hotel she took note of who was going where. James naturally went in, Namay and Christanos were staying outside, Suriyas was behind her and she didn't want to stand around looking like a moron just to wait for what she was doing. She strode through the door on impulse, thinking someone should watch James, just in case.

Neither Namay, nor Suriyas, nor Christanos (mainly from the fact that she couldn't see) objected to Vex's tailing of James.

James quickly traversed the short distance of the small lobby over to the front desk. The middle-aged woman innkeep recognized him almost instantly, and her face brightened up as though James were family relative.
"Ma'am," greeted James, dipping his head and touching the brim of his hat with his index finger.
"James!" the woman exclaimed almost breathlessly. "Back in town so soon?"
"I reckon so, ma'am," he replied. "Might I be so bold as to ask a favor of ya, ma'am?"
"Oh, sure, sure!" she answered without hesitation. "And what might it be, hun?"
"I need to borrow a room for the night. Any vacancies?"
"Well sure, hun!" responded the innkeep as she reached for one of the keys on the wall behind herself. "You're always welcome to stay here, James."
"My thanks, ma'am," said James as he accepted the key presented to him by the innkeep.
He turned around-
!!!!
And beheld demonic Vex.
James immediately took his hat off and held it to his chest. "Ma'am," he took a quick glance down at the key, "Number Sixteen on the right side facing."
The innkeep gasped abruptly and held her hands to her mouth. James looked over his shoulder out of curiousity...
"Oh James!" the innkeep started with a big smile on her face. Strangely, she looked as though she were on the verge of tears. "You never told me that you got married! I'm so happy for you!"

Opportunity knocked. Vex could show that she wasn't an idiot under pressure here and all it really leaned on was the man James' ability to go with the flow. For a moment she wished he had called the woman something other than Ma'am...and that she had something that didn't make her look like a whore. Well, as long as she didn't act like one.

Vex shifted a little so she was standing closer to James and flashed him a playful smile before shooting a pleasant enough grin at the inkeep. "We're newlyweds ma'am," she chirped, trying to imitate the man's accent. "Married just a month today."

"Oh really? How precious!" the innkeep said back to demonic Vex with adoring eyes, as if dreaming up and living out her own fantasy right there on the spot.
James never got a chance to say anything, namely because he was in a stunned surprise ever since the word 'married' escaped the innkeep's mouth and demonic Vex rode with the idea. But that there idea wasn't true! But, thinkin' again, he really did need the key or it'd be his hide. Best ride with it too, it was just a lil' white lie...
James tipped his head down in a very slow nod so that the brim of his hat hid his eyes from the innkeep, "Thank ya kindly, ma'am."
"Ah, it's nothing James. You're always welcome to stay when there's some vacany for the night. Bye now," said the dreamer innkeep.
"Good evenin', ma'am," were James' parting words as he turned around and started at a natural speed for the door.

"Well??" inquired Suriyas sternly as soon as James came out the front doors.
James held up the key obeidently.
"Lead," instructed Namay flatly.
"Yes, Namay-sama," confirmed James as he hastily walked toward room sixteen on the right side facing. Closely tagging after him, of course, were Suriyas and Vex, who was still being aided along by Namay.
Once there, James unlocked and pushed the door open for his mistresses, who all quickly proceeded inside.
James, while he had a small window of time to himself, took the opportunity to glance up into the night sky. It was completely different from how he remembered it from his ranch.

Vex put her hands behind her back and smiled, hopefully in a cute and sweet manner, before trotting out after James. As soon as they were on their way to the room, that smile became just a little smug.

I didn't croak under pressure, hmph I never really have... but, once my new mistress finds out that I don't I should definitely gain at least a little standing in her eyes. What else could I do to earn her trust though...

It was a good thing that James held the door open for the women as they piled into the room. Otherwise she just might have run into it, since she was so carried away with climbing up Mistress Vex's ladder of influence.

The room was a cozy little lodging with two beds, a dresser across from them, and an end table between them. Also, there was a table with two chairs near the window and a door at the other side of the room leading off to a bathroom.
Naturally, Christanos was laid down on one of the available beds gently by Namay.
Dark elven Vex, still covering her eyes with a hand, spoke aloud, "Namay, contact Jin. Order him to tell Tyrinde that I request her presence in the nation of Serendipity immediately. She is young...and naive."
"At once," replied Namay soullessly as she proceeded over to a particularly dark corner of the room and began to work her own Dark Hand magic.
"Suriyas..." Christanos began.
She instantly perked up and stood rigidly at attention at the beckoning of her Mistress, "Yes, Vex?"
"Go outside and stand guard. Make sure that no one enters," Vex commanded.
Suriyas nodded a couple times, unshouldered her Mana rifle and held the weapon at the ready, then replied, "At your will, Mistress."
She briskly walked out of the room, joining James outside.
And, a moment after Suriyas left, Christanos spoke to Vex, "And you...go with Suriyas."

Vex glanced around the room, noted the two beds and pondered over who would get the other should they decide to remain there once morning broke. All the night traveling took her a little while to break into but she supposed it was a good way to move about without drawing too much attention.

When Mistress Vex began giving orders, Vex's attention went to her immediatly. Namay's order intrigued the demon, she commited the names- Jin and Tyrinde - to memory, who knew when she might need them. Like Suriyas before her, Vex didn't waste much time heading for the door once she was ordered out.

Once she was out, the demon crossed her arms and scowled a little. Mistress Vex hadn't referred to her by name, maybe it was odd to call a servant a name that was partly yours. It was a mote detail, but that didn't mean she couldn't agonize over it.

As soon as demonic Vex left the room, Suriyas made it a point to shut the door and stand in front of it defensively.
James, who had been star gazing all the while, looked back to see the two that now joined him in the midnight vigil. He brought a finger to the brim of his hat and dipped his head forward. "Evenin', Mistresses."
"Stay silent and mind your guard," retorted Suriyas. "It is the order of Mistress Vex."
James nodded and kept a lazy-eyed watch of his surroundings; sleep was definitely clawing at the edges of his eyes.
...
...
...
After a few moments worth of silence, Suriyas broke her own rule by starting up a quiet conversation, "Who would do such a terrible thing to Mistress Vex...?"
James hesitated a little bit; she just told him to be quiet, but then, Mistress Suriyas was now speaking. Wouldn't it be disrespectful not to heed her word?
The wrangler went the proverbial middle route and responded very quietly, almost inaudibly, "Matriarch Mistress Vex has many enemies..."
Suriyas glared down at the ground, "Enemies that we must silence. Enemies that we must destroy."

Vex crossed her arms behind her back and glanced around, trying not to look at James or Suriyas in case a sudden nagging question or comment danced through her mind. She wasn't going to break Mistress Vex's order, not her.

And when Suriyas spoke up, she jumped a little, casting a worried glance towards the room's door. Nothing, nothing that she heard or saw anyway. She turned to Suriyas as James responded to her, taking a step forward so she could hear them better. Mistress Vex's enemies, if only she could drag one down, that would be a good way to earn some trust.

She grinned and nodded after Suriyas mused about silencing and destroying their Mistress' foes. Heh, she was communicating without technically breaking Mistress Vex's order this way.

Suriyas had little else to say, and James technically couldn't say much more. Without much to measure the passage of time, the minutes and hours slowly and arduously crawled by.
This had its effect on James, of course, who was only human. The boring duty coupled with the general lack of sleep associated with his "line of work" caused sleep to claw at his eyes. The wrangler would phase in and out of slumber on his feet from moment to moment.
Suriyas, on the other hand, stood like a stone statue in front of the hotel door. Like James, however, sleep was clawing at her eyes as well, though she apparently had the tenacity of an insomniac.

Meanwhile, Christanos Vex had a lot of time to think to herself. Her mind almost never lapsed into a dull and static moment; she was always pondering new strategies, dreaming up new theories, mentally reviewing and perfecting speeches, composing new verses of her ideology, and so on.
And it was during that night, under those conditions, that she found brilliance.
"Namay," Vex started softly, still lying down on the bed, now with a cloth laid over her eyes. "Find some parchment and write down what I speak. I will dictate it to you."
Namay quickly obeyed, and scrounged up the proper utensils within the small hotel room.

Vex tried not to think of how much time was going by as she stood in front of the room's door. If she let herself think about it she'd get bored and lax.

Not thinking when you're standing in front of a door, waiting for...something was easy the first five minutes. But, as those minutes slid into an hour and that hour began collecting minutes of its own; that took mind over matter. There were only so many things one could focus on before they all grew dull and time began to look nice.

Her first line of defense was thinking about how good it felt to be out of hell and away from Neelam. It was nice, but not something she could find herself musing over long after the initial 'Yay!' feeling. Next, she railed on her clothing. Horrid, the whole get up. They were whore's clothes, and a whore got no respect. From there she branched off on another tangent, fuming about the truth of her last thought. Now that she had this new start she would make sure that no one got away with laying a hand on her, provided she hadn't done something to deserve it initially.

She gave her thoughts a break on that high note and watched her companions. Just glanced at them out of the corner of her eyes, trying to kill as much time as she could by lingering slowly over their features.

Night melted into morning, and the passage of time was marked by the brightening of the sky on the horizon.
"Wake up!!" piped a young voice that was just stern enough to be adorably cute.

--Tyrinde Daisende was only a dark elven child, just a little taller than waist high to her slave, Cinna. Her eyes were very red and her hair stark white, much like the larger portion of dark elves. She wore two shirts: One black with short, rather wide and open sleeves, ornate designs, and shiny copper-hued buttons; the other white with long sleeves worn under the first. Her smooth pants and dress shoes matched the color of her overshirt. Finally, she had a small red cape pinned to her right shoulder to flowed behind her.
--Cinna Cashus was in no way a very muscular or athletic looking man, which was a hint towards his profession - poetry. The poet wore beige colored baggy pants and tunic, the standard of many Nahvish commoners. Aside from his prized sandals, the only other article of clothing on the man was his blue-gray halfcoat, which was similar to a jacket save that it had no left side and was bound together at the waist. Like a good many other desert dwellers, Cinna had a bald head.

Tyrinde was standing with her hands on her hips and a sneer on her visage as James was rustled awake and Suriyas snapped back into reality. Cinna was twiddling with his fingers and glancing around uncertainly.
"M-Mistress Tyrinde!" stuttered James as he nervously took off his hat and held it to his chest.
"Mistress," said Suriyas, immediately falling to one knee. "The Vex is inside. She has been waiting for you."
"Well, I got here as soon as I could!" began Tyrinde as if an argument had been started. "But I found myself delayed..."
Cinna got down on his hands and knees and started bowing feverishly, "Much forgiveness! Much forgiveness! I promise that I will not let time flutter away so much next time! Please! With all due humbleness and servitude I prostrate myself before your glorious feet and beg dearly for your mercy!!"
Tyrinde brought a hand to her chin and looked like she was considering what Cinna had said. "You are just slightly off today. Not good enough. Remind me to have you beaten when we get back to Vie Vitalis."
"Of course! Of course, oh gracious Mistress Tyrinde!" replied Cinna, the man looking like he was about to kiss the girl's feet.
Tyrinde turned from her servant and saw...demonic Vex.
Her eyes narrowed and she asked loudly, "Who are you? I haven't seen you around..."

Vex tilted her head to the side when the little girl and the man came up to their room. The girl looked like Mistress Vex and Namay... maybe she was another one of Mistress Vex's servants.

When her companions were roused and both addressed the girl respectfully; Vex, not knowing exactly what to do toward her dropped to her knees and bobbed her head. The girl, Tyrinde, was important, maybe she was Mistress Vex's daughter? She'd ask James or Suriyas once the girl went into the room.

Err.. or maybe the girl would introduce herself after Vex told her who she was. Though, she didn't know exactly what she should tell her. I'm Vex, a new servant of Christanos Vex... Dammit, too redundant. She probably won't like the similarity in mine and Mistress Vex's name either. Fake name!! I'll use a fake name, that ought to work.

"I'm new. I began working for the Vex when she visited the kingdom of Adela, Mistress. My name is ... Solitaire." Vex smiled appeasingly.

James' eyes darted to and fro and he drummed his fingers against the hat he held to his chest nervously; if...if her name was Solitaire, then what did she mean when she first said...
He cancelled that train of thought in that moment; he would be best to simply let the matter go, as he did not have the authority to question a Mistress.
Tyrinde's head slowly shifted to the side; the whole time the girl had her eyes focused directly on demonic Vex's own.
"So...so-lit...so-lit-tare..." she let the sounds roll of her tongue slowly, as if getting a feeling for them. "That's a strange one, even more so than those silly Nahvish names." She turned back to glance at and speak to Cinna, "Write that down."
Cinna nodded three and a half times and answered, "Y-yes Mistress Tyrinde!" before he began to fumble in his pants pockets for his parchment and pen.
Tyrinde left Cinna to his own agenda as she strode towards the door. Suriyas lifted herself back up to her feet and opened it for her, allowing the girl entrance into the hotel room.
Cinna finally pulled both his parchment and pen from his pocket and held both in his hands, albeit with an incessant nervous twitch. His eyes kept bouncing from direct eye contact with demonic Vex to his feet and back up again. Finally, the poet mustered up the courage to ask, "M-Mistress S-solitaire. C-could you p-please spell your n-name for me s-so that I m-may write it d-down?"

Namay's attention darted without delay to the door once it was opened, though she allowed herself to relax slightly when she saw that it was Tyrinde - whom she had sent for.
The girl, upon seeing Christanos on the bed with the cloth over her eyes and noticing the several other minor wounds, instantly shrieked with surprise and clapped her hands over her mouth.
"What-!? Who-!? Vex-!? Aunt Vex!?" Tyrinde exclaimed, shocked by the prospect that someone would bring harm on Christanos.
"Sephnai," said Namay softly. "The Matriarch Mistress sleeps; you do not want to wake her."
"But-! But-! But-!"
"It is alright, Namay," said Christanos, though she didn't move - really, it was hard to tell if she was asleep or not. "Let Tyrinde do what she has come to do."
Namay bowed her head and replied, "Of course, Mistress Vex."

Vex licked her lips when she caught a few glimpses of James' nervous expression. Dammit, the man knew her real name! Keep your mouth closed, keep it closed. Closed!

She tried to keep her sigh of relief in her chest when his opportunity to reveal her true name seemed to have passed. Once the girl and her man went inside she could explain herself... if she wanted to. If he kept his yap shut she could possibly get away with just going by the name Solitaire.

... Damn, the kid just had to know how it was spelled. Vex didn't know how to spell it, hell she didn't even know how to spell her own name. The only knowledge she had was what she learned would keep her alive, and learning to spell never quite made the list. And now it was rearing its ugly head.

"Um," her eyes darted nervously side to side and a little smile stretched across her face. "It's just like it sounds."

James kept a straight, impassive face, though he wanted to frown; the new Mistress was a natural. This wasn't the first time he had seen a Mistress intentionally do something cruel like this. If Cinna actually managed to spell it right then good for him. But if not...then woe for him.
Cinna himself seemed to know this, as his nervous twitch had not improved one bit. Despite his anxiety, he nodded his head to 'Solitaire' and said, "Y-yes, of course. Forgive me for my stupidity, M-Mistress."
The poet began to slowly and carefully scratch down letters on his parchment: S-O-L-L-I-T-A-I-R.
Suriyas still held her ground near the door, but cast a curious eye upon Cinna. The male had better get it right...
Cinna turned the parchment around so that he could show demonic Vex. "Are you p-pleased, Mistress?"

Tyrinde was quite the useful asset to Christanos; the kid was young and naive, trusting and dedicated to her aunt, and trained in regenerative Dark Hand magic.
Useful for dire times like these, in any case.
Though the sun was lurking on the brink of the horizon, there was still a sufficient amount of darkness and shadow in the room for Tyrinde to effectively heal Christanos' wounds.
The Matriarch Mistress carefully removed the cloth draped over her eyes and blinked once.
Tyrinde crossed her arms all in a big huff and spoke angrily, "I demand to know who did this to you, Aunt Vex! I'm going to see to it that they are properly educated for this!"
"Calm yourself, Tyrinde," said Christanos as she sat up in bed and slid to the side. "Know that the one responsible for my grievances will receive all due punishment. Vertai vin na Vex."
The child Mistress exhaled some, somewhat disappointed at the waning light of the prospect of educating a terrat solo, but agreed, "Vertai vin na Vex."
Christanos placed her feet on the floor, stood up straight, fixed her coat and ribbon a little, then ordered Namay, "Inform the rest of my servants to enter. We will discuss our plan of retribution now."

Vex tried to keep from looking excited when the man began to write. Watching someone write was just so interesting, and maybe if she watched him, she could learn how to write that name in case she needed to later.

When the parchment was presented Vex looked at it closely, putting a hand on one chin and narrowing her eyes slightly. There was a curvy line, a circle, two straight lines that bent to the right at the bottom, a straight line, a straight line with another straight line on top of it that went right to left, a little roof looking thing, another straight line and a hookish thing. Vex's temples began to pound from staring at it so intensely. Standing up straight, she flashed the man a smile. "Yes, very pleased. You did an excellent job."

The compliment wasn't fully out of kindness. Vex was just curious to see how one of the timid males would take such kind complimenting words. It should make for some cheap thrills.

Cinna was trying his very best to keep a relieved smile from dominating his face, and his struggle quite visibly showed. Unfortunately for Cinna, he happened to be losing, as evident by the steadily growing wry smile already painting the picture of his relief on his face.
The poet bowed his head several times to "Solitaire" as he put his pen and parchment away. "Th-thank you, Mistress! I am honored to have been of service to you!"
Suriyas' eyes instinctively shot wide open as she felt a finger tapping her on the back. She glanced over her shoulder at the same time Namay spoke to her, "Come. The Vex has summoned everyone."
With that, Namay retreated back into the modest hotel room.
Suriyas nodded in confirmation and glanced back at the collection of people outside the room and announced, "Inside. The Matriarch Mistress wishes to speak with us."
She turned about and was the first to enter the room, after Namay of course. Cinna suddenly became fidgety and nervous once again when he heard the news while James put his cowboy hat back on.
He glanced at demonic Vex, not directly in the eyes of course, and lowered his head respectfully, Cinna soon doing the same. It was customary for the female to lead and enter rooms first, except in special circumstances. Any males would be behind the female - where they belonged.

How adorable. He seemed so pleased but was trying not to show it.

Only, she didn't know quite how to respond now. If only Suriyas wasn't around, she could see just how much control this man had over his glee.

Thankfully, Mistress Vex called them in. Suriyas didn't stick around and Vex got another devious idea. She tugged the hem of her skirt down a little, partially bending one knee so her hips would angle a little. The demon put a little 'swish' in her step when she strode into the hotel room after Suriyas.

James blinked hard and shook his head; were his eyes playing tricks on him or was Mistress Solitaire trying to entice him? He glanced over at Cinna, who glanced at him at the same time.
The two men eyed the other quizzically, both confused over the gesture of the new Mistress. Nonetheless, they knew they could scarcely afford to be late; they walked into the room after demonic Vex each in turn.

Christanos eyed each of her servants as they filed into the room, and she smiled devilishly. They were all assets - assets to be used by her. She had made a foolish mistake earlier: she did not exploit her available assets. Of course, such a mistake cost her, but she had learned from it.
She would utilize her servants, her assets, to their fullest. She would not have trusted in others, for they were merely extensions of her own will.
Christanos held her hands behind her back and began her speech, "I believe that some of you in this room are familiar with the events of the Triad..." Her eyes singled out James, Cinna, and Solitaire as those unenlightened. "Some of you will also know that, though my mother and I employed ruthless strategies against them, the Houses Argos and Slaythen were devastated but not obliterated. The Ruins of Old Slaythen are evidence enough of this fact for those who have seen that wretched part of Vie Vitalis.
"The kin of these Houses held an intense hatred for one another, but loathed the House of Vex even more." She smirked. "Today I have tasted that very seething hatred...quite the delicious partaking. But the transgressions of this individual against the Vex, your Vex, will not be tolerated."
Tyrinde straightened up rigidly, in firm support of the ending statement of Vex's speech. It was almost as if the spunky girl wanted to go out and find the culprit herself, and looked almost ready to volunteer herself to do so.
"You, my Silencers," began Vex again, "are to find this male. You will know the vexianai when you see him, for his envy shows true. When you find him, let me know immediately: I wish to resolve this matter personally..."
"Yes, Matriarch Mistress," answered Namay soullessly.
"By your will, my Vex," replied Suriyas.
"It will be done, Mistress," said James.
Before Namay could move though, Christanos added, "Namay..." She glanced at demonic Vex and said with a smirk, "Take her with you."
Namay nodded, glanced over at Solitaire, then proceeded out the door to begin the search, Suriyas following suit.
James bowed his head, ready to exit out after Solitaire.

Vex didn't dare move when Mistress Vex began speaking, besides of course a quick blink. Mistress Vex seemed to be in a good mood, she was smiling - which meant at the least she was pleased, though it didn't mean she would be sharing what made her so delighted.

A chill swept up Vex's spine when she was eyed after the Mistress began her speech. Something she didn't know about, damn. Or, maybe it was better that she didn't. Piping up with a 'Sorry, but I am aware of that' would more than likely put her up a little higher on the list of expendable help. The best thing to do in this situation would be to remember as much as she could so she wouldn't need to have it repeated later on.

House Argos and House Slaythen, devastated but not obliterated - so many big words, whatever she did to them must not have been good though. The ruins of House Slaythen were a wretched part of Vie Vitalis - ok... House Slaythen ba-ad, the ruins at least. Hate each other, loathe (?) the House of Vex even more - hmmm they must really really hate the Mistress' House. Was there a Mistress Argos and Slaythen in addition to a Mistress Vex?

And one of them did somthing to the Vex!! No wonder she seemed to be in a bad way when we found her, damn. Her eyes crossed a little. Silencers...? Ok, guess that makes me a Silencer. A male, some guy did this to Mistress Vex.

Wait...

Some guy?

Aren't all the males living in Vex's land supposed to be perfectly good and loyal? What's wrong with this one?

Vex was rattled out of her thoughts when Namay spoke. Ack! She missed something thinking about the stupid guy!! Damn... "As you wish," she chimed after James.

Vex straightened a little when Mistress Vex looked at her again and ordered Namay to take her. She could do that. Vex nodded slightly and walked out after Suriyas. Once she was outside she picked out Namay's whiter than white hair and began moving towards it.
