Time was such an odd thing to Red. Days and nights she understood, but she didn't mark the passage of weeks or months. Perhaps that helped dull the loss of her pack, helped her focus on the now. What was next.

She had to eat, after all. Couldn't stay in that same range of territory either, which meant going farther south and into the mountains than she ever had before. Red wasn't afraid, just wary. Half hoping she would stumble on another pack that she might be able to integrate into, though afraid what might happen should they turn her away.

Red was an unknown. A possible danger. A large russet and red wolf.

She traveled slowly for days, scenting plenty of prey and even hunting down a mouthful of burrowing mice. No wolf-kin though. Nothing familiar. The air was heavy with the smells of late summer : heat, grass, leaves, animals, baked stone and dirt beneath a long sun. Her coat might not absorb all the heat, but the rich color didn't exactly protect her from it either.

Red's long day walks shortened as she tired and the heat, and sense of aimlessness, wore at her. Eventually she napped through the hot of the afternoon and only traveled in the early morning and late evening.

She couldn't say how long she had been going, only that it was shortly after she'd woken from her afternoon nap that she caught the scent of another. Red circled the area, suddenly excited and eager. Another wolf? Another pack? Red didn't know how long she'd been alone, only that it had been too long. When she caught a strong scent trail, she let loose a long, low howl that would carry. Announcing her presence and desire to be found. Then she was off, hunting down the owner of the trail.

Alexios had been sitting on one of the cliff ledges overlooking his valley, enjoying watching his mates mix and mingle, perform various tasks around the valley. Today was a good day, this morning- his latest mate had finally opened herself up to him, both his affections, and him. They'd wasted all of the morning and some of mid day together, indulging in each other, drinking in and pouring into each other. It had been beautiful. It was always beautiful when one of his mates came to want him as much as he wanted them.

But on that cliff side he sat no longer, no longer enjoying the blissful afterglow that would follow him all day- no, even that had fled from him now. For the wind had changed, and with it carried the scent of someone new, an invading wolf. As clear as day- the familiar smell of a strange wolf wafted into his valley and filled his nose, filling him with a chilling fear and seething rage. After what other wolves had done to him, he couldn't let them get near his mates, his precious and wonderful mates.

In the blink of an eye he'd shifted from human to his behemoth of a wolf form, sprinting in the direction of the scent, each exhale a snarl. He's kill this intruder. Kill them to protect his mates, to protect himself. The scars covering his left eye tingled with the memory of pain, of fear, of betrayal, of being alone. No, this would never happen again.

He was vaguely aware that the wind had shifted again, but he needed it no longer, he ran faster than the wind now, he could still follow the scent of this wolf encroaching on his territory. his own inner wolf was working itself up into a frenzy, driving him on and on, a screaming howl tearing through his lips as her heard her own. Wait. Her own? The raging form of his inner wolf stilled to consider as Alexios ran on. His inner beast instinctively knew based on the scent and sound of this wolf, that it was a female, why was it alone? Why was it in his turf? It wouldn't be long before the werewolf found out, he was closing in on her, he could feel it.

The terrain was rock and scrub, warm but open. Red didn't all out run, but there was a sense of urgency to her pace. Another. The desire to be around one like her.

She heard him, scented him, long before she saw him. That made her excited in an entirely different way. She hadn't just found another, but a male.

Red slowed in a dusty clearing, a place open where he could find her. Ears up, searching, but her tail low and posture loose and relaxed. Red wasn't there to fight. Quite the opposite. While she was fully ready to submit, to do whatever she must to join, there was no mistaking the assertive stance or way she kept her head up. Unafraid while she waited for his inevitable arrival and whatever that would mean. Red wanted him to see her as the large, strong creature she was... not the travel wary, heat stricken wolf she was at the present. Nevermind the fact he was the first male she had come into contact with since the destruction of her pack had her blood heating up, sharpening her interest for an entirely different reason.

Of course Red wanted to belong to a new pack, but was this new male mate material?

Alexios skidded to a halt at the edge of the small clearing, hackles raised and his head low to the ground, snarling. His eye soaked in the sight of her, she was smaller than him- significantly, her brilliant red coat catching the afternoon sun. She was calm and proud, yet eager. He could smell her eagerness. Gods be damned, she was heated. Part of him wanted to greet her amicably, but she was a wolf. He could never take her as a mate.

The wolf within him stirred at this thought, each lungful of her scent made the beast want her- but he wanted nothing to do with her. He wanted her gone, dead even. And for the first time in many decades, Alexios heard the growling voice of his inner wolf, the growl rolling thunder in the storm of his mind. 'She is alone, Arlukilos. Calm yourself, she has come to offer herself to you, even from afar she could recognize you as the alpha you are. Take her, make her one of your mates.'

The massive wolf shook his head violently hearing his inner beast call his bestial name. It's voice reverberated around his mind then down his spine, causing the shake to travel down his whole body, by the end of which, his posture mirrored her own, tall, proud, but his hackles were still raised, and he couldn't help but occasionally lift his lips to bare a fang at her as he slowly padded closer to her, his good right eye turned towards her as he tasted of the air, taking in any surrounding sounds. His wolf was right, he could smell only her around. No, he could only smell her. She, and the scent of her heat, dominated his nostrils, the only thing he could focus on as he moved closer, similar to if he had actually scented one of his mates.

His wolf hadn't been wrong before, but damn it all. As he moved scant inches from her, he decided to trust his primal instinct, if she made any ill action towards him or his mates, he would kill her.

Red came from a brand of wolf shifter that ran quite large when compared to wild, natural wolves. She hadn't been the biggest in her previous pack, but she'd been a healthy, full grown adult female. Red was still big. Even by mortal human standards.

When he arrived, she had to reassess what she called big. He was monstrous. Her head lowered some, immediately deferring to him, but she wasn't afraid. Rather, intrigued and infinitely more interested. How had there been a wolf so large, so strong and powerful, that she'd missed him this whole time? The closer he came, moving into the clearing, the more he seemed to tower over her. As any alpha should, by any right.

Red could sense that he was tense. She was a strange wolf, no matter the obvious interest she had for him. An unwary wolf was a dead one. So while she subtly shifted her head to watch him, adoration and want rippling through her, Red's body remained nigh motionless and still relaxed. A difficult feat, all things considering. She knew it was important, at least for a moment, that he see she had no desire to fight him. That she accepted this as his home, his territory, and that Red wanted to be a part of it.

Desperately so, now.

While she'd not lowered her head to be parallel to the ground, she had some. And only if he would give an indication she could move, that he didn't deem her a threat, would she. Red didn't need words to advertise her interest or want. Body language and scent did it all for her.

JaddWard

When she didn't move, Alexios slowly circling around her right side, keeping her in his sight as he sniffer her flank, down to her hind paws. Back up as his snout moved along to her tail. He sneezed, shook his head, and sneezed again. That had been a bad place to sniff, he could feel his body reacting, feel his sheath starting to firm up, his bright red tip would absolutely be peaking out if she looked for it.

'Claim her, Arlukilos. She is offering herself to you, to join your pack, to become your mate. Take her, here and now, then take her back to your den and take her again.'

Alexios shook his head again, then continued circling around, sniffing at the wolfess. For so long, his wolf had been silent, why now did it choose to speak, as another wolf appeared. He didn't like this, he didn't want her around, but his wolf had been the one who directed him toward the Caldera in the first place, he had to trust it now, but he couldn't. Not all the way.

By time he moved back to her front and sat back down, more of his length was poking out, abundantly visible, but not even a quarter of what this form had to offer, a part of him wondered if she could take all of this form. Only two of his mates ever had. Sitting, he leaned forward and looked her in the eyes- a challenge. He would have her submit to him before he took her anywhere near his pack.

SanctifiedSavage

Red's heart beat loud, though steady, in her ears. The rest of the world dimmed around her as her intense focus remained on him while he circled her. Because she was so much smaller than he was, there was a very good chance she wouldn't be good enough. Half of her was aware of that. Aware he might attack her. Decide she wasn't worthy. Red would fight back, if it came to that, but he was so much bigger the odds that would matter at all...

Whatever concern she might've had, though, began to diminish when he reached her flank. The alpha might be cautious, for good reason, but he seemed interested too. Her breathing steadied and, by the time he had fully circled her, Red completely lowered her head and pressed her ears back. She might be a dominant wolf in her own right, but in that moment she didn't need to be. Red even bent her legs in something of a crouch, not fully because she wasn't a full submissive wolf, but clearly deferring to him as she took a couple of steps close. Wanting and aching to be near him now.

He'd scented her, he knew her intention. Red wasn't there to fight. Now, if he deemed her worthy, she could join with him. Still careful, Red moved to rub herself along his side.

JaddWard

There was a slight tremble to the much larger wolf as Red brushed up against him, that was all the movement he betrayed as he was mentally screaming and cringing as the touch of her. His scars ache with the memory of the last time a wolf touched him. He wanted to growl, lash out, scream, anything. Anything but take her- despite what his wolf told him to do. She had submitted to him, so he would guide her back.

It was all he could take to bare it for a moment, before his lips moved over and nipped at her flank, moving to circle back around her and lead her back to the caldera. As he did so, he cause scent of her again. Her delicious, succulent, warm scent that lulled his whole body for a half instant before he regained control. Walking past her, he looked back, and nodded his head towards the direction home- feeling his engorged member- now poking out a quarter way, swaying between his legs with each step.

SanctifiedSavage

Red eyed him curiously after he'd nipped at her. Ears up and head canted some to the side. Accepted. Elated, but still mildly confused. He was leading her back, presumably, to where his den might be. Perhaps to others. Which was what she wanted.

But it wasn't all Red wanted.

It didn't seem to be all he wanted either. She couldn't begin to guess the reason for the hesitation or the wait. It wasn't like Red had seemed unwilling or uneager. Perhaps he didn't want to on the fringes of his territory? She accepted that. Red could be a little patient, if she saw reason for it. She wasn't all animal, after all.

She trotted after him – having to do so to keep pace with his larger gait – and allowed for some distance to pass between where he'd found her and wherever they might be going. Of course she didn't know where they were going. Couldn't possibly, but she was still terribly excited and there didn't seem to be any other reason to wait. Surely they were safe... She yipped, just a little to draw his attention, and brushed up against him again then pulled ahead of him. Not turning around to face him, as though she wanted to strike up some conversation, but leaving her hindquarters in his direction.

Perhaps she'd not made her want clear enough? Not only had Red wanted to join him as a pack mate, but she was offering herself as more than that. Did he already have a wolf mate? Was that why he was ignoring her? Red might've thought so except his physical response to her didn't seem to indicate as much. Now that he seemed to approve of her, she wanted to stake a claim of her own. Solidify her place. Where she wanted to be – with him. If there were other wolves – which she hadn't scented – they weren't the alpha. His smell had been on the fringes. His markings.

He should be the one to have her.

JaddWard

'Arlukilos... You're refusal to claim her has forced her hand. She's claiming you as her mate. If you don't take here now, there will be problems for your pack.'

Alexios stood, staring at her with his one good eye, he could see her readiness beneath her slowly swaying tail, he could certainly smell her readiness, and her posture now made it more than clear. Between all of that and his wolf berating him, Alexios felt his hesitation and resolve falling out from under him. God's be damned. Shaking the reverberating sound of his wolf's voice out of his head, hopefully claiming this wolf would make that voice go back to sleep as it had for these last several decades. As much as this voice had kept him alive, he found he didn't like it.

The larger wolf took another deep breath and almost seemed to sigh as he stepped for, having to lower himself a bit as his nose pressed past her tail and was just smacked dead in the olfactory receptors with her scent. This close? It was downright intoxicating, he could feel it and his own growing lust slowly drowning his misgivings about being near another wolf.

This is for the good of my pack, he told himself, as his tongue flashed forward to start lapping away at the shewolf, making sure she was ready, that she could take all of him in this form.

SanctifiedSavage

Red canted her head to the side, just enough she could see him from the corner of her eye. Her tail swayed, slow, but there was a tense excitement to her. She'd traveled for the stars only knew how long, been alone for far too long as a wolf who ached to be part of something more, and she'd finally found it. Red wasn't about to miss out on this chance. The way he watched her was a very visceral thing – making her anxious. Did he still not think her good enough? Was she too small?

She was about to turn and confront him – a laughable thing, given how big he was but Red would show she wasn't afraid – but then he moved. Finally. Her head lowered some, indicating her submission. He seemed hesitant, so Red wanted it to be abundantly clear she wasn't going to fight him. That she wanted him. She would be his wolf.

It didn't even enter her mind that he was going to be far larger than would be comfortable. That didn't matter and wouldn't have even if it had occurred to her. The flash of his tongue over her was hot acceptance. She could've melted with relief if she didn't need to remain upright. Some of the tension left her shoulders and she could actually relax.

Which would certainly help.

Having never been mated before, it was an electric, invigorating sense. A hot rush through her. Red didn't need to be told what to do – she'd seen it enough. But she'd bore no pups of her own and had no mate before. Hadn't been allowed one, since she'd not been a ranked female. Now, though? Now she would be.

JaddWard

He took his time, tongue sliding across, then up, then across again as he worked over her entrance. She was definitely smaller than him, she would be a dire wolf in her own right but he was still almost twice her size. and as apprehensive as he was, he still didn't want to hurt her. A minute or so went by before he pulled away, licking his maw as he goes to step forward, his chest coming into contract with her hind, then forward again, he was big enough to stand completely over her, and have her back pressing into his chest and belly.

Besides being a hugely dominate position, it made things a little awkward, he couldn't hook his front legs around her hips like he would need to- and both times that a mate of his had taken all of him in this form- he'd been on his back. No, he'd have to be standing over her while he took, maybe one paw hooking under her belly as his head came even to hers, lowered so his eye was even with hers.

His wolfhood, maybe a third of the way out by now, had slid just south of her wolven entrance, jumping almost in time with his pulse to press the hot tip against her belly, he's canine length radiating heat as his hips pulled back and slowly started to rock against her, trying to line things up.

SanctifiedSavage

Were she just a wolf, there might not have been as much pleasure in how he licked over her as he did now. Red thoroughly enjoyed it though. Not just the physical sensation, but everything that went along with it too.  What it meant to her.

The disparity in size didn't exactly make her nervous, either. She probably should have. She shifted some as he moved over her, feeling her hair raise up in a shiver of sorts at the presence of a wolf almost completely over her. It was an odd feeling, certainly new, and not unwanted. If he would be her alpha, she liked that he was big and strong.

Red would take everything that came along with it. Her purple gaze caught his while he settled, more or less, over her. Since she had limited experience – only having watched – she wasn't entirely concerned even now. Red shifted beneath him, breathing a little quick, wanting to help him align. Proving that she very much wanted him – even if she had to brace to do so.

JaddWard

He'd been moving closer to hitting the mark, one half thrust at a time, but her shifting under him did the trick. Feeling his tip strike home and plunge part way in- good god he could feel just how tight she was, he was going to be stretching her long before his knot even came into play.

Now that he was in, his stance shifted, hips slowly starting to rock himself deeper, he wasn't just a wolf either, and he wasn't going to just mindlessly take her like one. He'd slowly work himself in, then give her a minute to adjust- then mindlessly rut her with an animalistic lust. But it was difficult to not just go at it, her heat made her not just warm, but hot. So hot that if she'd been any hotter, she'd probably scald the flesh off his member. She'd been in heat a mighty long time. And though it took a minute of slowly working himself deeper and deeper, he was surprised his hips met her own.

She'd taken all of him. He's probably have licked the back of her neck if he wasn't too busy trying to hold himself back from rutting her into the ground as her fleshy vice massaged and pulsed around his member while he let her adjust to his size.

SanctifiedSavage

Bracing had been the right call. A soft whimper left her throat and she bared her teeth a little, reflexively, when he finally pushed into her. It sated something primal, though. It didn't matter how much he stretched her, how much each thrust of his hips drove move of him into her. There was a wild part of Red that needed this. Needed him.

Anything less just wouldn't do.

Especially since she'd been an adult long enough. Now, set loose from her pack, she'd hit her own prime. Ready to take a leading role herself. Red eagerly pushed back, helping to drive him into her. She couldn't help but think there was so much. The pressure, the weight and dull ache. She panted a little, watching him still. Tensing while her inner muscles clamped tight around him. It might hurt, but she felt it a right of passage. He would be hers and she would have all of him.

JaddWard

The waiting had gone on long enough, his wolf was screaming to take this hot new bitch for a ride and that's exactly what Alexios was going to do- his inner wolf completely overriding any misgivings he may have had to the point that they were now forgotten entirely- at least in the moment.

As the setting sun shined its last direct beams on the two, one of his forepaws lifted to hug around her belly while the other stayed planted firmly on the ground, holding up his weight as he started to rock against her again, pulling back and pushing back in- between the natural lubricant that coated his wolven member and her excitement, the movement was easy- filling the air with a light wet sucking sound as he pulled out again, slowly starting to build up to a momentum for taking her like the proper wolf bitch she was.

The voice of his wolf filled his mind once again- 'Very good, Arlukilos. Claim her, ravager her unsoiled loins, make her entirely yours, forever.' and he fucking HAD to get that voice to go back to sleep, his head hooked around her shoulder, pressing against her chest, almost like he was using his neck and head to hold her too as his hips doubled their effort, the sound of his smacking together trimming around the sound of effort as he began panting with exertion- anything to make it stop talking!

SanctifiedSavage

Red liked to think she was a strong wolf – and by most normal comparisons, she was. Next to her new alpha, though, she was small. No matter how much she might have braced herself, Red still had to rely on one of his own large paws to help keep her in place by the time he really started to rut against her. There was no part of her that expected him to be slow or gentle. That wasn't even a thought. If Red was going to be his mate – which she'd fully intended – she had to be able to be properly mated. Unresisting, though her body was still tight and clenching, she was determined to take all he had to give her.

Even if it was so much more than what would normally be expected. Not like Red had any basis for comparison.

There was very little thought involved. All of it had been instinctual, all of it felt right. There had been no other wolf scent. He was alone. Why would she not be with him?

Red trembled some, braced as she was, at the quickened assault. At the drag of so much being moved in and out of her. It was one thing to know what to expect and another entirely to experience a mating rut on her own.

JaddWard

It wasn't terribly long before his knot started to swell- given the form he was in and the fact that he was bottoming out in pace, and just how tight this one was -that wasn't surprising information. Soon, the wet pops of a growing knot being forced in and out of the red wolf's sex joined the sucking schlicking sounds of fervent sex and the muted, rapid clap of their furred hips.

'Properly, Arlukilos..' the voice growled in his head, causing him to whine as he took a small step forward- barely slowing down -as he forced his knot to seat behind her entrance, his hips pounding against her. But his knot stayed within, ballooning much more rapidly than it had before. There was no doubt about it- they were tied. And would be for some time to come.

Now that they were locked firmly together, his paw that had been hugging her body fell to the ground, planting firmly as he continued to gyrate against her, his heavy wolven sack beginning to bounce and pull- preparing to paint the insides of the shewolf, he tossed his head back and howled to the sky in a cry of dominance as the first of many, many hot, thick jets of useless, sterile seed were loosed from his tip.

SanctifiedSavage

Red knew there was a second step to the mating. That it wouldn't be complete until he'd tethered himself to her, but she couldn't imagine that there could be more to him. There was already so much, and the pressure internally was just... Uncomfortable was being charitable.

The dragging of him in and out of her body slowed now that he was buried and stuck to her. Then there was a shuddering pause, a ripple of painful pleasure and primal satisfaction when he completed their rut in her. She was panting, ears back, submissive and stuck, but happy to be so. Red didn't want to move too much, of course, and didn't try to.

All the animalistic excitement was quelled for now. Muted and sated. Pleased to have been worthy and have been taken, so her place was now certain.

JaddWard

Unlike wolves in the wild, he didn't start turning to clamber off of the shewolf, instead planting both of his forepaws firmly on the ground and standing tall, dominant over the new wolf as his panted and looked around. He didn't need to go ass to ass with her, so firmly in his territory- no other wolves around for hours of running. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad. His wolf was right, this wolf had come here to submit to him. Maybe this was the Mate his former pack had said was waiting for all werewolves?

Alexios tentatively stuck his nose against the nape of her neck, taking a deep breath, taking in her scent now that his initial rage of scenting her had left him. No.. this one was not his intended mate. But, this one was untouched by other males, so she could be one of his mates, as long as she stayed submissive to him and didn't cause trouble with his other mates.

He also discovered that- while she very much smelled like a wolf, and that of a human, she didn't have the very distinct, unique scent of a werewolf. This shewolf was something else entirely- even better!

He would have to discover for himself what she was, later. He was going to let her enjoy the knot that she'd been so eager to receive, giving little half thrusts as his heavy sack continued to pump the odd jet of empty seeds- as it would for the most of the tie-in a waning frequency. They probably had more than an hour left before he could pull free of her regardless.
