Asta sifted through the snow, her face had no feeling as the cold wind whipped around her. She was heading towards one of her traps she had laid out earlier that day. She had been having bad luck all day, though the last one did have a small rabbit, which was now hanging off her shoulder. Asta can already hear the grunt of her father when he see's what she had caught. She sighed and headed up a snowy hill, only to groan as she reached the top. The trap at the bottom was empty, though the bait inside was gone. Asta jogged down and started to reset the trap, opening a pouch with bait inside.
(I'm new so if I'm doing anything wrong just let me know and I'll fix it)
Shageon peers at her from the snow covered bushes, his hands deep in his pockets to keep them warm. He's a hunter by trade, but it's a harsh winter and he was fast running out of food and supplies. He had stumbled across this trap the other day and had quickly seen how useful they could be but try as he might, he could not replicate it. In the past, he has only hunted using his bow. When he heard someone walking up the hill, he ran to take cover in the bushes, forgetting to replace the bait in the trap.
Asta stood up, huffing. If one was not used to the cold tundra, they might have tried and spend their time looking for tracks but Asta knew that it's been snowing and the wind is blowing, so any tracks were long gone.
Asta looked around, making sure there was no other life. She really did not want to go home with only a rabbit. She sighed, imaging her father's face as his friends laughed at her. Many of the men there don't think Asta is capable to do the things the men do. It's common knowledge that men do most of the hunting and fighting. But Asta is her father's only child and with no mother to raise her, he would have to.
Asta turned around and started back up the hill, looking around one last time for any other life. As she turned her back to the trap, she heard something moving within the bushes. She stopped and pulled out her hunters knife, ready for whatever came .
[OOC: Naw dude, your doing good so far. If you have any questions, I might be able to help you. All you have to do is PM me and I'll answer as soon as possible.]
Shageon freezes when he hears the noise. For a few seconds, the snowfall creates a deafening silence until out of the bushes runs a rabbit. Shageon rushes through the bushes, scaring the rabbit towards the girl, and readies his bow. When he breaks free, he aims his bow at the rabbit, about to release the arrow.
Asta smiles as a snowy rabbit hops out of the bush. Asta raises her knife, ready to cut down the rabbit. And stops.
The rabbit was running towards her, to danger, meaning something scared it more, making it run this way. Asta immediately crouches, looking across the snow. The rabbit eventually sees Asta and quickly darts to the right, heading to the other side of the snowy hill.
Asta rasies her knife again and throws it at the rabbit, she's not going to let it get away, no matter else is out there.
Shageon fires his arrow, piercing the rabbit at the same time as the knife pierces another part of the rabbit. It flops on the snow and blood spills across the white snow. Shageon goes to pick it up, not grabbing an arrow but not putting his bow away. "So uhhh... is this your rabbit or mine?" he asks the girl, not greeting her and obviously awkward and unpracticed at talking to people. His eyes dart from her to the rabbit, as if not knowing it is rude to stare
(I edited it so it wasn't so short)
Asta watched as an arrow shot out and hit the rabbit. She turned and watch as a man stepped forward, and walked over to the rabbit. He kept avoiding her eyes as he spoke.
Asta stood up straight and walked over to the rabbit. She watches him as she got closer. She reached out and grabbed her knife.
"Yours." She said flatly, not putting her knife away just yet. She didn't want to disappoint her father but the man did technically find the rabbit first.
"Thanks." He picks up the rabbit and gingerly pulls out the arrow "nice throw...." he says while inspecting the wound the knife made "I... believe this is your's..." he takes the bait from her trap and offers it to her, not offering anymore explanation
Asta took the bait, looking at her rest trap. This guy took it, what the hell for. Asta turned back to him, putting her bait into her pouch. She took a step back, sheathing the hunters knife.
"Thank you. My father taught me." She said, still watching his every move.
"um, how hard was it to learn?" he pauses for a second and puts one of his hands in his pockets, a little nervous "Would you be able to teach me?" he glances up at her, then quickly glances back to the rabbit "I've built... well.... I haven't built much but I'm... " he thinks for a second, wracking his brains for something he can brag about "motivated... to learn..."

Asta blinked. He wanted to learn. Asta breathes in and looked back at her trap. She let the air back out, sighing.
"I can give out pointers but if you really want to learn then you'll have to pay. We York's are really good at what we do, we don't just let people learn for free." Asta said looking back at the man. The air was still cold and soon the sun would set. Day light here is short and walking in the dark is a pain.
Shageon looks back at the trap, calculating how much it's worth. "How about... this rabbit? I don't really know how effective traps are nor how hard it is to learn so I don't know what a good price would be... I'm definitely going to want more than pointers." Shageon glances at the setting sun as well, grateful that he set his camp close by so he wouldn't have to spend forever walking to it.
"The rabbit will do for most of the price. Come, you'll have to discuss more with father. He will be waiting for me and we shall not disappoint." Asta said nodding and started up the hill, not looking if the man was following.
She would have to check the traps again tomorrow, if there was nothing again tomorrow than she'll have to take it down and move on.
"My camp is this way about half a kilometer... " he runs to catch up to her and points in a direction to the left of their original path "you could come with me or just let me know how to find your house..." he blinks at the rabbit and tries to hand it to her

Asta paused and looks at where he pointed. It'll take some time and they two of them would probably would make it back to the camp after dark.
"Lead the way." She said, grabbing the rabbit.
Shageon nods and walks in the direction indicated. He looks at the sun's position and asks "excuse my asking, but how fit are you? We may want to run in order to not get lost in the dark." He puts his bow away and stuffs that hand in his pocket as well to warm it up
Asta shakes her head.
"It is better to walk at a pace. If we were to run, the snow would slow us down, making us lose more energy. It'll get colder soon as the sun sets, you'll need the extra energy to keep on moving or you'll freeze to death." She said following the ma.
"We would still be faster than walking and I've got plenty of en- " he remembers from somewhere people don't like people who argue and shuts up, hoping she doesn't mind "Anyways..." he says trying to think of a topic to talk about "what... is your name?"
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
"I am Asta York, daughter of Fredrick York. Trapper and fur trader. Me and my tribe are one of the few and last who still venture deep within the snow, many of my people are known for their skills, the York line being one of them." She looked up at the man. "And you?"
"I am Shageon. Orphan of Shageon Senior. Hunter and.... er hunter and.... fisher. Me and my tribe... well I don't really have a tribe anymore... me and my grandpa just kinda wandered around... " at first he sticks with her format of introduction but he awkwardly loses confidence as the introduction continues until he mumbles the last bit out then he waits a second and remembers something his grandpa taught him to say "nice of you to meet... no nice to meet you" he brightens a bit when he remembers the saying correctly
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta watched the man as he stumbled, trying to match her formality. There is much pride within the York family, and rightly so. Asta's introduction was something she grew up with, it came more naturally.
"So you have traveled a lot then? You've been this far north?" Asta asked the man, Shageon.
"I've traveled a lot. Well my whole life really... my grandpa hated cities and I hated staying still so we were kind of nomadic hermits... I've never left Hyoite though... how about you?" They arrive at his campsite and he starts packing up his things with a speed only a nomad could match
Asta stood off to the side, watching the man and the outer world at the same time.
"Only in Hyoite. Father and I go into the other countries sometimes, to sell or trade our furs for things we need. As you can tell theres not a lot of plants. Not good ground for planting and trees dont grow well here, so we mostly trade for that. Our place is with our tribe."
"Our place is with our tribe" he echoes back, a little deep in thought. As he finishes packing up "saying that means you're loyal to your tribe" he mutters what he says next "or I'm horrible at reading people and unlucky... " he speaks regularly again "so why are you loyal to your tribe?" He realizes how direct he's being "sorry I don't know if this is something I'm supposed to ask after I get to know you... so don't feel pressured to answer... really I'm just impressed I have something to talk about..."
Asta was surprised that one person could be so awkward. She thought about his question. It wasn't something she was normally asked, people just accepted it.
"Our tribe is our family. Each person is just as important as the other, each is needed to survive. All our souls are connected, linking us as brothers and sisters, even if we are not blood." Asta says, shrugging, "You have asked a difficult question to answer, I do not know how to explain it."
"Okay." He says, not really knowing where he was going. He did think the connectivity of the souls was particularly interesting but he never really goes into the spiritual side of things "I guess a better way to ask it is was there a certain... something... an event that caused you to devote yourself to your tribe?"
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
"At first, no. The tribe has always been important, but I became more..." She paused, unsure what word to use. Finally she settled on the word Shageon used, "... devoted to the tribe after my mother had died. Father rasied me the rest of the way, showed me how to make a difference among the tribe." Asta looked towards her home as the last bit of light fell over the snowy hill, making the snow glitter within the moonlight.
"My condolences... about your mother dy- passing away... anyways it looks like a really nice tribe...." he glances up from focusing on putting one foot in front of the other to the glittering snow and house ahead and then looks back down

Asta remained silent the rest of the way. Some people were still up, all of them moving to the large tent in the center. Asta's tribe lived a couple of miles out of Hyoite, no need for house if they were just going to move again. Asta lead Shageon to her tent, opening the flap and allowing him in.
The tent was held up from a large bone in the center, furs and other skin kept the tent warm. Asta placed both her and Shageon prey on a slab of wood near the floor. Asta in hooked her trap supplies and placed her knife next to a fur bed. She looked back at Shageon, fixing her long hair into a braid.
"Come. Father is already with the others. He will want to meet you, especially if you wish to learn more about trapping " she said, tying a leather strap at the end and walked out of the tent.
Shageon takes one more look at the bone in the middle, and more to stall for a half second his meeting with what might be a bunch of people then actual interest in the bone and where it came from. He follows her, trying to follow suit with fixing up his hair, only to give up and put his hands back into his pockets "I chose the right tribe to teach me how to trap"
Asta grins.
"You bet the stars you did. The York family is the best in this tribe, father teaches a lot of the younger men, though none know the family trades." She said, opening the main tent. From outside voices could be heard but as soon as the flap opened, they got louder.
There was one main pit in the center, parts if a mammoth were in in. Around the main fire pit, there were eight others, each with five or more people surrounding those. All were on furs that were laid out in the floor, wooden and bone bowls, cups, plates, and utensils were placed about. Kids ran in-between the adults, squealing with laughter. A group of women talked about gossip, laughing quietly. The many others were loud, talking about what they had recently trapped.
Asta weaved through the the crowd, many noticed the man with her but either didn't care or didn't want to be rude, and looked away, continuing what they were talking about. Asta stopped at one of the pits, near the back. Three men and two women sat around it.
They men didn't noticed Asta right away, one of the women, an older lady with gray hair, reached over and slapped ones head. He turned and looked up.
"Asta! You have returned, Helida was getting worried about you." The young man said. He was Asta cousin, on her mother's side. Heilda was his twin sister, the other woman that sat among them. She scolded her brother and looked back at Asta.
"You have a friend?" The girl asked, smiling at Shageon.
"I'm not sure if friend is the correct word as much as trainee.... she agreed to teach me how to trap. We've only known about each other for a few hours. " Shageon stands a little away from the group, enjoying the warmth but feeling overwhelmed by the many people and the somewhat stuffy room. He keeps glancing from side to side, hearing snippets of conversations as if unsure which conversation to participate in. When one of the children run somewhat close Shageon walks to the other side of Asta to give them a wide berth.
As Shageon said this, a man who's back was too them trained around. He had long blond hair like Asta, a claw mark scar could be seen across his face. He looked at Asta and grunted, turning back around.
"Is he going to pay?" He asked, taking a drink.
"Yes." Asta replied
"How much does he wish to learn?"
"As much as our own men."
"Are you going to teach him?"
Asta paused. She normally doesnt teach l, she's usually the helper, only needed to show how wrong the other men made the traps. She enjoyed embarrassing them when their traps fell apart. After awhile Asta nodded.
"Yes, father." She said. The man nodded and continued eating. Asta turned to Shageon and waved her hand. "You can eat with us." She said sitting, filling a bowl up and handing it too him.
"Thank you" he takes the bowl then looks at the others eating, then whispers a few words, too fast and too quiet for anyone to catch, like some sort of prayer or spell while staring intently at his food then digs in obviously starving. He's a sloppy eater but trying to be somewhat clean in the group. He pulls his backpack onto the ground and sits with it as his back rest.
"So, uh..." Heilda started but realized she didn't know his name.
"Shageon." Asta says, eating some of the stew. Asta's father has been silent while Heilda's brother and the other man spoke and laughed loudly. The older woman was also silent, eating and watching the other around her.
"Shageon." Heilda said smilling, "Do you have any family or friends?"
"Um... no I'm afraid I don't... my grandfather was a hermit and I don't like staying in one place so we just kind of wandered around the tundra together... until he passed away... as a result my last friend I haven't seen for... maybe a decade? I doubt he remembers me." He finishes eating and sets the bowl on the floor and wipes the excess food off his mouth
Helida reached out and touched Shageon's arm.
"I am so sorry. Im sure he died peacefully." The older woman turned and smacked the girls head, just like she did with her brother.
"What makes you think he died peacefully. He could have been eaten by and snow lion or poisoned by a snowberry." The woman said. As the two argued, Asta turned and smiled at Shageon apologetically.
"Thats Gran." Asta said nodded to the older woman. "She is father's mother, raised up Helida and Zeek when Uncle Aegir ran off. Helida is a healer, works with the other girls in the Joff family. Father taught Zeek to hunt and trap but he prefers to sing and play music. The other man is Aunt Gerlida's son, fathers cousin. And thats father, the best trapper here." Asta looked back at Shageon. "You will most likely be in a tent with Zeek, his tent is next to ours so if you need anything I'll be next door."
He says "it doesn't matter how my grandfather died. It just matters that he's dead." He nods to each person in turn when they are introduced and thinks to himself "oh boy a musician... one of my least favorite jobs right above dancers, artists, and storytellers." He says "nice to meet you all. "

Asta's family greeted back, the men giving him a sturdy nod. Music then broke out, more food and drinks were past around. Pretty soon the families left, turning in for the night. Asta stood, stretching, watching the man next to her.
"Ready to sleep?" She asked as the rest of her family stood and left the tent.
Shageon doesn't quite know what to do when the music breaks out and tries to make himself inconspicuous. When Asta asks him, he says "No... it's too early for sleep... I'll find something else to do until it's time for me to sleep..." he takes out a container of arrow making supplies "where would be the best place to make arrows? I'm assuming the middle of a big tent is a bad location..."
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta was surprised that the man was not tired but she didn't bother him about it.
"To make arrows we do it outside normally by the fire, but I'm assuming that your better than most of us so I'll take you to the Fire Tent. That's when most of our tool and items are made. Come." Asta said, leaving the tent and walking to one of the outer tents. There was one person inside, he didn't stop his work so Asta didnt bother him. She turned back to Shageon.
"Here is best. Do you need help with anything else?"
"Nope. Thank you and good night." He glances at the other occupant of the tent then gets to work, systematically making arrows with the efficiency and single mindedness of a machine.

That night there was a little snow storm. In the morning, the other members of the tribe had started to melt the snow. Asta yawned and got out of her warm bed. It was early in the morning, around 4 o'clock, she quickly got changed and put her hair into a braided bun, and collecting all of her trapping equipment. Asta then opened the tent flap, walking over to Zeek's, looking inside for her new student.
"Rise and shine, we have work to do. Traps take time so we get hands on stuff then we practice back here." Asta said, stepping inside Zeek's tent.
Shageon wakes up and looks around, not recognizing his surroundings until he remembers he's a trainee of the tribe. He looks at the darkness outside the tent and says "rise and shine? There's no light" he's used to staying up as late as he likes and waking up as late as he likes, not having anyone else dictate his schedule

"The sun has not yet tip over the horizon. The prey will be waking up now, best to get them when still early." Asta said walking over. She nudged Shageon with her foot. "Come hurry. If we do the traps now, we could eat when we get back."
Shageon stands up and grabs a small pack, his bow, his quiver, and the hunting knife that was right next to his sleeping roll and then walks past Asta and stretches "okay I'm ready" he says, still tired but now a bit awake

The walk was long and cold, but the fur blocked most of it. Asta had led them to the frozen sea. She bent down and pointed to a small hole.
"There be sea weasels. Small, scurry like rats, but easy to trick. Come." She stood back up and walked quietly to the hole. "See, the ice chips are fresh and the water has yet to get a thin layer of ice, meaning the sea weasel will be coming back for air. If we hurry, we might get it."
Asta turned back around, moving swiftly across the thick ice. She stopped and pulled out a bundle of sticks from her bag, placing four sharp sticks into the ice. Asta then grabbed a bone ground spike that as attached to the bundle and pulled. The bundle rised, the twine tightened, pulling the sticks together into a caged box. Asta then stabbed the bone into the ice and looked back at Shageon.
"Let's go wait."
Shageon nods and walks over to a suitable hiding place. He pulls out a scetch book from his bag and after flipping through several pages worth of maps, tracks, and pictures of animals with descriptions he starts drawing the trap, doing a sort of bad job and then he writes some notes and after making sure it won't smudge, he closes the sketch book
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta placed some sweet berries inside and hid with Shageon. About ten minutes passed before the water stirred. Asta watched it closely as a little nose popped out, smelling the air. It dove back under and then came back up. The sea weasel looked like a weasel with no fur and webbed feet. It skittered across the ice and smelt around the trap, it then ran back to the water and dove under. Asta raised her hand.
"Wait for it. He'll be back." She was right. Soon the weasel came back and ran into the cage. As soon as she stepped in, the sticks bent, making it snap shut. Asta dashed forward and scooped up the cage. The weasel was failing about, hissing and shaking. Asta opened to door and grabbed it quickly. The weasel was biting her but with all her fur he couldn't get skin. Asta smiled.
"There. Now lets set up the rest."
"The rest? And why don't we just off it now before it scratches you?" Shageon walks over and inspects how the trap held the weasel and nods appreciatively "this is great marksmanship well done." He puts the sketchbook back into the bag and pulls out his knife, prepared to kill the weasel and prepare its meat
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta shrugged and snaps its neck with a flick of her wrist I
"The rest. As in the other traps we have to put out." She said, tying the sea weasel to her belt. "We skin it at home. It is easier."
"I see. Can I set up the next trap?" He puts away the knife "also when are we taking a breakfast break?"
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
"We lay the morning traps first. Normally I would get up earlier in the morning, set, come back to eat, then head out again, but with me training you, we start out small. I have brought jerky, so that will hold you off for now. Here." Asta handed him a pouch. "That's the jerky, and yeah. It's best if you show me what you know so I don't have to start over with an amateur."
Shageon takes a medium sized bite of the jerky then says "Thank you." Without swallowing first then continues "so where should I put the trap?" Shageon sets about resetting the trap that Asta just used
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta nods to a spot a little closer to the water hole.
"There be good. After u set this one, we will continue to the other sites. Since this cage is flimsy, we will check it on the way back."
(Ooc: sorry my laptop won't turn on)
"Sounds like a plan" Shageon says as he puts the trap on the specified spot "you have the berries to put in? And what do you call those berries?"
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta blinked and handed some of the blueish pink berries to the man.
"They're rare, seeing how cold it is here. They are Jaz'ola berries but I just call them Honey berries. Super sweet and bright colored. Attracts many wild animals." Asta said watching Shageon place them in.
[OOC: It's cool dude. Figured that there might have been a problem.]
Shageon carefully takes more notes in the ledger/sketchbook and finishes setting them in. He closes it back up and puts it in his pack. "Lead the way" he stands back up
[OOC: once you get tired of taking the lead I think I've got a storyline that I can lead so just let me know...]
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta nodded and led Shageon to the other sites, the sun slowly rised in the sky, giving the snowy land little light. Asta showed Shageon a common trap, a net covered in the snow, the rope tied to bundle of trees, so.ehow still alive. After showing him a couple more, Asta let Shageon take led.
[OOC: That'll be amazing! I hope this was enough to help start it.]
[OOC: more than enough!]
Shageon flips to a page in the ledger and says "there's a nice hunting ground off to the left..." he mutters "or at least there was 25 years ago" he continues speaking normally "let's see if we can hit anything on our way back to the tribe... are we going to the tribe?" He leads the way to the hunting ground
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta nodded.
"We can head back after we do this last stop." Asta didnt know what hunting grounds he was taking about. Granted, Asta wasn't born 25 years ago, but if it used to be so good, why didn't her father talk about it. Yes, she and her tribe moved around alot, traveling all over the frozen tundra, but it was something that bothered her.
"You said that it used to be there, what happened?"
"I haven't got a clue. I just know my grandfather killed 5 deer up ahead with ease 25 years ago so it's definitely worth checking out. Since you didn't seem to recognize the spot I was pointing to either the deer are gone or you've never figured out how to navigate that thick of a forest. Anyways, Where is the last stop?"
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta laughed quietly, shaking her head.
"No, we are done. I had meant the hunting grounds that you had talked about. We finish there then head back."
"Oh I see." He leads her to a tangle of woods "Just out of curiosity have you heard of this place before... " soon the tall trees cover the sky and various obstacles cause only the winding game trail to be followable. Several times, Shageon pulls out the book and a compass before choosing between a fork in the road
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
"No, father has not mentioned this. Makes me wonder why." Asta said, shaking her head. She was surprised at how much trees there were. If one heads south, there are trees, but not as much to make a forest, it as something beautiful. The trees were a pale grey, the leaves were white with a tiny of green. Ice hung from the branches, making the trees look like shinning gems in the sun.
"Well... what kind of man is your father? Maybe that will tell us..." Shageon says, trying to make conversation more than actually trying to learn anything. He hardly glances at the beautiful sights as he navigates the convulted trails
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
"He's..." Asta trailed off, "he's respected. Strong, in both body and will. He is Fredrick York." She said finally, shrugging slightly "If it were about hunting, he would have told me."
"Sounds like a likeable person." Shageon says, then remembers he's not supposed to use like twice in three words and decides to change the topic before she might notice "so he..." Shageon stops speaking as the trail opens up to a swampland. "Oh my god." Spread across the clearing is the skeletons of many deer. One of them is nearby and extremely stinky. Shageon walks closer. "Ummm... There isn't any bite marks...."
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta stopped moving and watched as Shageon ran forward, announcing the condition of the skeletons. She pulled out her knife and watched the trees.
"This is giving off bad vibes." She said, slowing walking to Shageon, still watching the surroundings for any movement
The entire forest is unnaturally still.
"Yup. Do you think your dad saw this?" Shageon steps back and moves closer to Asta while he consults the book "well sorry for being obvious, but something definitely happened between now and 25 years ago... and based on the skeletons it happened at least a few years ago... I'd think a new powerful predator except there's no bite marks... which either means it was just another dude going crazy and for some reason the deer held still... or there's magic involved... I think anyways what're your thoughts?" Shageon puts the book away and keeps his own knife close, but doesn't seem as concerned as Asta.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta paused. "Father just might know. Something really bad must had happened, that's why he never said anything." She peered around, crouching next to a skeleton. "I say magic. Theres an electric pulse, I can feel it in my fingers. This is a bad place to be, it will bring bad luck. It is evil."
"Well how about we go... before that magic starts to attack us...." Shageon turns and leaves, eyeing the trees and the swamp behind him suspiciously
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
"Good idea. Let's leave now, I want to talk to father about this." Asta said, heading back to the trail.
Shageon pulls out the compass and map again and starts navigating out of the convulted forest trails
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The forest was left behind and the sun showed that it was now noon. Asta could see her tribe off in the distance, the Main tent had smoke rising out of it, lunch already been cooked.
"Come. We must find Father. I have questions." Asta said, striding forward.
"I hope these questions include lunch" Shageon thinks following Asta now and smelling the amazing aroma.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The main tent wasn't as full as it was last time. Many were still working, though the food that was provided seemed like it was enough for the whole tribe. Asta saw her father sitting in his normal spot. She turned to Shageon.
"Go ahead and grab something, I think it be best if you explain the place to him."
"Sounds good" Shageon grabs a light plate of food and then asks Asta "ummm which one is your father again? I'm not good with faces... is he the one sitting over there?" Shageon points to Asta's father
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta nodded and led him over, stopping in front of her father.
"We need to talk. It's very, concerning." She said. He looked up and held out his hands.
"Sit then." Asta did as she was told. "What is it that you wish to discuss."
"An hunting site that we found. Go ahead Shageon."
"So I noticed that on the way back was a hunting site that my dad... talked about... so we visited it... and it had turned into a swamp land. Carcasses and skeletons of dozens of deer were scattered across the swamp with a really strong odor. There were no bite marks or any other marks on any of the bones we saw. Do you know anything of the area? It's about 4.8 kilometers east of here. " Shageon sits next to Asta and her father and starts to eat a bit
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Fredrick paused. A lot of talking in the tent died down, Asta's father cleared his throat and set down his bowl
"About 20 years ago, there was another tribe, permit residents. One of the members went by the name of Christa Morr'mil. She was a magic user, powerful and she knew it. Christa abused her powers, practicing in the swamp. One night a couple of their men came over. They found out the Christa was trying to summon something that was," he paused trying to think of the right word. He shook his head and continued, " horrendous. Evil, not if this world. Some of our beat, your uncle and I followed. It was horrible, so many died. Those who didn't were scared, either mind or body.
" Fredrick lifted his fur, showing an old scar. It covered all of his left side, it was clear that the skin was burned, ridged and uneven. He lowered his shirt and looked down at his hands. " Your uncle was not as lucky. He wasn't the same afterwards. I don't actually remember what happened nexted. We had entered, demons came from all over but we killed them, their body's bursting in fire and ledt as ash. Then there was Christa. She hovered in the air, chanting, a portal opened from behind. She was summoning something larger. Me and your uncle was on the front line, cutting our way to Christa when there was a blast and a Demon Lord walked out."
"His eyes were black, skin an ashy grey, his tounge slithered like a snake across his sharp teeth. For a moment we were petrified. The next few moments became a blur. The demon attack and I was in the ground, my side felt like fire. I could hear the screams. Then the world went white and all sounds of battle stopped."
Fredrick sighed, rubbing his head." Apparently Chrisa wasn't done with the enchantment. So after someone killed her, all demons were sent back to were the came. But damage was done. The swamp become a magical waste land, any living creature that stays there in the area for a long period of time will be affected by its evil magic. We later found that those with magic are unaffected, and we were able to create a magical armor but there are only three."
Again, he paused, looking at the two of them wearily."Your not planning on doing anything, right?"
"What would we be planning on doing? Untainting the swamp? I'm rather happy of just leaving that place alone... unless there is some reason to return to that place..." he glances at Asta "is there?"
(OOC: and here I was thinking that I was taking the lead ;p )

[OOC: Sorry. I didn't know what to do. I just typed, I guess there was a different way to type that, I can easily change it. I'm getting trigger happy ( ̄。 ̄|||) ]
Asta shook her head, she didn't really have a reason to be a hero.
[OOC: its fine, I was expecting to take the lead but this works great]
Shageon asks "how will the living who stay there be affected? Do you know?" He looks at his plate with a bit of food left and offers it to Asta
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta shrugged and took it, eating some of the left overs. Her father sighed and shook his head.
"It varies. We can't say for sure. Asta's Uncle, my brother, was a good man. But his personality had, changed. He was him, but wasn't. He eventually left, abandoning his children, took one of the armor I spoke of. I suggest you talk to Madam Bluewater if you want more information. She lives inside of Hyotie, little past our camp. She knows magic better than anyone here." He said, mostly talking to Shageon.
"Thank you for your information. I definitely want to talk to her... how about you Asta? " he reaches for his book but thinks better of it and awkwardly scratches his hair
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta nodded looking at her father.
"I am still teaching him. I wish to go along. This has intrigued me." She said placing the plate down. She looked over at Shageon. "We should go tomorrow. Check the rest of the traps for today and get ready."
"Ok. Tomorrow it is. " Shageon stands up ready to leave "last question: is there any other similarly interesting places nearby?"
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
"No, that is the only place Christa had infected herself. Though I bet there are other places like that all over the world from people dumb enough t summon demons." He said. Asta stood up as well and nodded.
"Thank you Father, we'll be going now." She said turning to the tent flap
Shageon follows Asta and once out of earshot of the leader, he says "let's go back to that place!"
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta turned sharply to Shageon.
"Really? You still want to go." She paused, "That doesn't really sound safe. Unless you have magic, you'll need the armor so you don't get affected."
"It'll just be for an hour or two it's hardly what can be called 'called' term exposure' but I guess we could use the armor... there's a lot of perfect bones there that would be easy to take and use to build stuff with."
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
"True." Asta said nodding, "We can go now. But if you go crazy, don't blame me." Asta raised her hands up and started forward.
(OOC: sorry about the typos in the last post)
"Same goes for you, I didn't force you to come along. We probably should hurry though to make sure we don't end up in that place after the sunsets..." Shageon shivers
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta nodded and started out, she stopped by Zeek's tent and told him to go out to her traps, she has something else to do. He followed Asta and Shageon for a while before he split ways to one of the trap sites. Soon the Crystal Forest came into view. It'll be only for a while, nothing bad will happen...
[OOC: It's all good. I even mess up and don't notice my errors until I already posted.]
Shageon doesn't notice her worries and doesn't worry himself, believing half of the story to be exaggerated and the other half he could deal with. The second Zeek is out of sight, Shageon pulls out his book and writes down everything Asta's father said and some personal disbeliefs before opening to a map and leading the way through the forest. "I wonder how much of what your father said was exaggerated..." he says, both to get more information and keep the silence away
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta shot a look at Shageon.
"My father is a truthful man. If he said it happened then it did, who are you to say it didn't if you weren't even there?" Asta said as a gust of wind few past them, making Asta's hair to whip around her head.
He writes down what she said then puts the book away but not before the pages flap in the wind again "I didn't mean offense. I'm just judging by what I've seen and how many people around me have exaggerated."
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta gives him a skeptical look before looking ahead, the wind dying down. After awhile Asta spoke, mumbling.
"He did say that he had a hard time remembering... So I guess he could have... You know, gotten second hand information." She looked up quickly. "But that doesn't mean he exaggerated, just someone else could have." Asta huffed, satisfied with what she said.
He makes another note. "I believe we are here." He says as the clearing with the bones appears. He starts making stacks of them.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta got down and started to help Shageon pile up the bones. She seemed nervous, like a skittish cat, constantly looking over her shoulders, watching the surrounding trees for any movement.
"What if there are still demons around?" Asta wondered out loud, picking up her bundle after tying it up with twine.
"Demons, if they exist, are probably nocturnal. We're just absolutely screwed if we stay here past sundown. We still got plenty of time though... do you think demons are nocturnal?" He measures the distance of the sun to the ground then continues stacking bones
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta bent down, brushing the snow away from the ground.
"Not sure. I feel like it wouldn't matter if they were super powerful. I think the reason people associate demons with the night is because that is when they attack but when the attack at that time, it is because no body is around to see them, yeah?"
"That's a scary thought... maybe we should've gotten that armor..." he glances at the edge of the clearing... and trips on a dip in the ground making a huge racket as his fall causes one of the bones to snap "SH!T!" He hisses and grabs his bow as a chill sweeps across the clearing
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta immediately dropped her bundle and pulled out her hunters knife, looking around the cleaning. A fine mist swept through the cleaning, it swirled around their feet. The crystal trees seemed to clink together as a low wind blew to Asta and Shageon, making Asta lifter her hand to sheld her face from it.
Shageon nocks an arrow and when the wind blows, he turns around at first so his hair is taking the force of the wind, then he realizes that's exactly what a demon would want them to do and he looks around in a circle, forcing himself to see through the wind when he turns that way and keeping both hands on the bow and arrow. A blizzard starts from nowhere, turning the afternoon into a snowy abyss. When Shageon realizes he can't use his bow when he can only see a few feet, he puts away his bow and draws a two handed sword. "Asta! We need to stick together! Where are you?!" He calls into the storm moving towards where he saw her last
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Everything happened so quick. Suddenly everything was white, ice and wind hit her face. Asta didnt waste any time. The first thing she did was pull her fur hood over her head, she then tightened all her items to her, next she looked for Shageon.
"Shageon!" Asta called out, not movin. She the heard her name, and moved slowly towards it. After awhile, Asta saw an outline of a figure. "Shageon!"
The figure can into focus. It was definitely Shageon, his hands were on his sword. Asta raised an hand and waved. "Here! I'm here!"
"Shush!" Shageon says and turns around behind her so they're back to back "sorry to snap but we shouldn't make anymore loud noises." He obviously is nervous and cold "let's get out of here. The exit was this way?" He starts walking to the left
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta shrugged. She got turned around, what was left was now right. She followed and saw movement to her right, making her freeze. Asta reached out tugging on Shageon's coat.
"There." She said pointing. "There's something moveing in the snow. We need to be on gua-"
Asta was lifted up and ripped away from Shageon, thrown into the snow.
Asta disappearing like that takes Shageon completely off guard; he had expected a lot more warning in the quiet and low visibility of the snow storm. Cursing himself for his complacency, he runs after Asta, hoping that he isn't too late
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta blinked the snow out of her eyes, the wind knocked out of her. She turned on her side, sitting up and looked around. Trying to control her breathing, Asta shifted through the snow looking for her knife while she watched the snowy area around her.
Shageon emerges from the void of snow and sees her too late, tripping over her and falling onto the snow a few steps away. "Where did it go?!" He says standing up quickly, not harmed from his fall too much because the snow cushioned landing
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta was able to find the hilt of her kinfe when something stepped on her, kicking her over as it fell. Asta lept up, knife
ready to slice what it was when she noticed that it was Shageon. Asta gasped and lowered the knife, bearly hearing what Shageon said.
"I, um... I don't know. Something threw me. We need to get out, we can't be walking blind with this thing around."
"We need to stay put and put our backs against something substantial. We have no idea how to get out of here... let's just wander around until we hit something we can put our backs to or the edge of the forest and then go from there." He starts moving in the same direction he was going when running after the enemy "in case this is your end, do you have any last words?"
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta blinked at Shageon, suddenly her head shot up and she started to laugh. She looked back at Shageon and covered her mouth, shorting and chuckling.
"I apologise," she said tying to get her laughter under control, "I do believe Shageon that you forget that we are children of Hyoite. It'll take more than one demon to take us down."
She took a deep breath, all her giggles gone. She raised her free hand and placed it in a fist over her heart. "I am also a York. We have stone as skin, steal as bones. I will not fall from something that cowers behind shadow." She grinned and placed her back against his and nodded. "We do your plan, and we don't talk about last words. We leave those for when we are old and in bed."
"That much family pride is gonna get you killed someday" Shageon mutters, wishing he could put that in his notebook as well but there's no time. "Do you have something to call your tribe over to help us? A conch horn perhaps?"
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta shook her head.
"No I don't have anything. Even if I did, no one could hear us. Zeek maybe, but he didn't pack anything that will help." Asta said. She paused, thinking. She wasn't sure if it would work but it was better than not knowing.
"I'm not very good at, we don't have anyone in the tribe who can use magic so I never bothered tried to control it." Asta said, looking up and Shageon. "I can, in a way, bend the wind and snow to my will. But like I said I can't really control it." She said quickly, "like I can't do it in the spot but when I'm mad it just... Comes out. It's unpredictable, sometimes the air drops and no one can breath, othertimes I can create a blizzard like this one."
He raises an eyebrow "now we're talking... what happens if you're in the air drop? Can you breathe or would you have to drop the spell?" Shageon stares at her for a second, thinking of how to use this strategically. The demon uses this distraction to do the same thing to Shageon it did to Asta; picking him up and dragging him away with lightning speed for a couple dozen yards before fading into the blizzard. The entire time, Shageon is screaming until he to gets the wind knocked out of him.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta panics and try to grab him but was unable to. Following his screams she moved quickly, trying to follow it. She stopped as soon as Shageon did.
Asta could hear her heartbreat pounding in her ears, she crouched low and tried to imagine the snow parting so she could see. After a few seconds nothing happening, she gave up.
"Shageon.' Asta called out as quickly as one can during a blizzard. I need to be angered... she thought. Asta stood up and pulled her hood down, trying to get a wider view. "Come out here, demon! The York family brought down your kind before, we'll do it again!" Asta had her arms out wide, open for attack.
"I want to see the snow soaked in your blood! Come on, you cow-" Asta was tackled from the front, falling into the snow.
Shageon limps over to where Asta is yelling her taunts and sees her just in time for the demon's tackle. With the ease and speed that tells of much practice, Shageon pulls his book out of his bag, rips out the last page, and throws it like a frisbee. It burns up in a whoosh without a trace. As the last of the paper burns up, its spell is activated; triggering time for every nonhuman thing to go much slower for only five seconds. The snow flakes seem to float in the air. The noise from the tackle becomes lower and reverberates for longer. Shageon is too far away to hit the demon with his sword within the five seconds so he continues running at the demon, hoping Asta does something smart with her time.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta stared into the yellow eyes of the demon. He hissed, his hot breath smelt of rotten flesh hit against her face. As the demon raised it's claws, Asta heard a poof to the side and saw a small burst of light. The demon brought its hand down but it seemes slowed.
Asta lifted her knife and stabbed it in the chest, around the collar bone. It screamed and lept up, clawing at his chest. Asta sat up wincing, the demon was still able to scratch her, right across her left cheek and ripped past her lip, stopping at her chin. Asta stood back up, feeling blood in her mouth. She grinned, watching the demon closely.
"Come on, come on." Asta whispered to her self, trying to get angry about her wound but all she could feel was smug as the demon screamed in agony. She lept forward and gapped her kinfe handle twisting it.
"Shageon!" Asta yelled, hoping he could make his way to her.
"That's all the runes I want to spend on this sucker!" Shageon shouts. The spell wears off and the demon's speed returns to normal. He reaches her and keeps running, wanting to strike while the iron is hot
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta pulled her kinfe out, stumbling back. The demon hissed and leaped at Asta, making her dodge to the side.
"By the Gods!" Asta huffed, trying to watch to demons moves. "Why don't you just die?"
Shageon tries slicing it from shoulder to hip, but the demon blocks with its hand to give it time to dodge. it's fingers are sliced off and a bit of black blood oozes out.
"i'm sure it's saying the same about us"
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta lunged at the Demon again only for it to dodge. Again. Asta growled in frustration as the demon stood there, taunting the two of them.
"This is not working!" Asta yelled, turning to Shageon "Punch me or something!"
"this is a bad idea. " he sighs and tries thinking of a better one while slashing at the demon, more to keep it occupied. "fine! BUT YOU'D BETTER START PULLING YOUR WEIGHT!" he thinks to himself "please don't hate me" and hits the hand she isn't using with the flat of the blade, not at his full strength but enough to sting and then turns back to dance with the demon
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
"Hey, I'm the one inured here! Where the hell were you when the damn thing slashed my face!" Asta yelled has her hand throbed. "I'll show you what the hell I can do!"
As Asta was yelling, the blizzard actually seemed to pick up, snow turned into ice shards. The storm swirled around Asta, the area around her free of ice, as though she was in the eye of the storm. Strange enough, the ice shards also seemed to advoid Shageon, it took Asta a bit more will power to not let the shards rip through him.
The demon screeched as shards started to hit him on all sides, the lost of his powers left him bewildered. It saw Asta and quickly moved it's way towards her, stumbling as the storm became stronger.
Shageon sees the eye of the storm and quickly runs over to Asta. He points his sword at the demon "this is really impressive!!" he yells above the noise of the storm. Whenever the demon lunges to get into the eye, Shageon slashes at it forcing it to retreat back into the thick of the storm
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
"It's not like I can keep it up." Asta snapped at him. "Hurry up and kill it, I bet the spell will become infective if I try and move."
Shageon says "right sorry" and jumps out of the eye, slashing downwards onto the demon. It blocks with its arms and Shageon stabs it through the stomach. It still twitches and moves a bit so Shageon kicks it away, letting go of his sword and the demon falls on the ground face up
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta raised her hands and shoved them out. Large ice shards pirced the body. The storm dissipated, the air was light and the white snow glistened. Asta stumbled and put her hands on her knees huffing. She looked up, staring at the dead body.
"Sorry. It might be overkill but better safe than sorry." Asta said standing up, licking her lips as a metallic taste filled her mouth. "Not that I'm questioning your skill." She said flatly.
"don't worry i'm not insecure enough for that to hurt me. What definitely didn't hurt was the awesome storm magic! Does that have a story?" He starts picking up bones again like the demon never happened
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta pulls out some wrappings and put snow in it, making a cold press. She winced as she placed it against her cheek.
"If there is one, I dont know it." Asta said shrugging, watching Shageon. "Can't really control it or make it happen out of the blue. Plus I kinda piggybacked that demon."
She frowned, thinking back to the fight. "You said runes. Did someone teach you that?"
"no... uhh... don't tell anyone, but this is what I like to call the rutter. In the front is information, my specialty. Which places to hunt, which favors to call from who, think of it as an index of every person and place that my ancestors and I have learned about." as he speaks, he shows her the front half of the rudder. There is old drawings of maps, notes, drawings of faces, machines, etc. "At the back" he continues after opening the book up to the back where magic runes are scattered across every page "are the runes you were talking about. The tradition is that the book is passed down to the eldest son and he and the second eldest or eldest daughter work on improving the rutter, one person adding runes and the other adding information. Unfortunately, I am the last of my family, with no one with the knowledge to add runes so I use them sparingly, if at all. Any questions?"
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta watched the book with great interest. She had seen him pull it out a couple of times but never said anything.
"So this is your family spirit?" she said, crouching next to him, her eyes scanning the runes, unable to read them. "The Yorks don't have a solid tradition like this. The fact that our trapping skills are passed down to the eldest son is similar." Asta looked at Shageon. "What if the book becomes full, do you make a new one? Do you share it with others? How are you going to pass it on if you are the last of your family? Will it just be buried with you?"
"well... i'm really hoping to find a wife and pass it on to my son but no luck yet... I might just hand it over to someone... but based on how i've spent my life so far its most likely i'm going to get torn apart by wolves in the middle of nowhere and the book will be lost... When the book is full, we rip off the leather backing, fashion a new one that can fit more paper, then put the old paper and new paper into the new leather cover. It doesn't happen often and I've still got plenty of room."
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta nodded standing back up. She checked her cheek to see if it was still bleeding and was pleased that it was not. It was definitely swollen and it was starting to itch, but Asta doubt that it'll leave a large scar.
Asta put away the rag, folding it so the blood would not stain the inside if her pouch, and proceed to help collect bones.
Shageon finishes collecting the bones and starts tying them in bundles and putting them on his back "sorry for insulting you and hitting you in the fight by the way, i didn't mean any of that"
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta finished her own bundle and shrugged.
"I was up set. Obviously." She muttered, "But I did ask you too. And it helped in the end, so it's ok. Just don't expect to be forgiven right away, you'll have to work for it. Untill your hands bleed." Asta said smiling, half joking and half serious. we
He takes out a knife and makes a minuscule cut on his hand that barely bleeds "good now that that's done, let's get going" He starts heading out with his bundle of bones "you're not going to tell anyone about the ledger right?"
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
"Of course not. I swear on the last breath of my blood line." Asta said, moving her fist over her heart. "When Yorks make promises, we never break them. We leave that to the weak and cowardly."
"that's more than enough for me" Shageon says then thinks back to her power "so... do you have any control over your ability when you're not mad? When was the first time you used it?"
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
"I can make my hands cold." Asta said. "The cold also has little effect on me. I can spend hours out here and not freeze to death. The first time I used it was when my mother died. I caused a blizzard, destroying most of our camp. A few people died."
Asta paused think back. She was bearly able to stop it.since then Asta tried to advoid making her self feel anything that could cause a storm to show up.
"wow that's crazy" Shageon looks at Asta a lot differently now knowing she killed a few of her tribe... he knows it's not her fault and it shouldn't effect him... yet he is forced to look away from her to stop his eyes from calling her a kin killer. "so your hands getting cold... that could have some real uses... like... dipping your hands into water and then punching someone with the icy fists you make? Hold on I know there's more than icy fists you can use this for..."
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Atsa could feel a change in Shageon's voice. She winced internally but knew that she would get over it.
"Don't know about making ice fist, but I can turn a hot bowl of soup cold. My hands would sometimes be so cold that I can make someone's skin burn from my touch. Surprisingly my hands aren't as cold when I go to Serendipity or Connlaoth." Asta said, trailing off, looking at one of her gloved hands.
"maybe it has something to do with the snow..." Shageon says thinking aloud "or with how family centered you are it could be being away from your family..." He leads them out of the forest and starts heading back to the village "i can't wait for some overprotective soul to tell us off..." he says sarcastically
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta grinned, thinking of her dad, chuckling slightly.
"Knowing Father, he'll scold us then appraise our work on the demon. You wouldn't have to worry. He doesn't care much about what you do unless it effects me and you didn't force me to come."
"just don't tell him I hit you..." He glances at her a bit worried but then figures it should be fine. He glances at the smell of the cooking fire coming from the tribe and says "that smells amazing"
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta nodded, as they entered the camp. Everyone was busy working. A lot of the kids were running between tents, screeching with laughter. Asta walked past the main tent, lunch reached her nose, but ignored her growling stomach.
"The material tent should be around here." Asta said, shifting her load. "You may keep what you collected. You earned it, maybe I'll have someone enscribe on one of the bones about the fight."
"i'll just leave these with the rest of the materials and collect any that i need when i need them... but i probably won't need to use them" he shrugs and puts his bones in the tent with a bunch of materials that he assumes is the material tent "besides i should pay more than a rabbit to stay here"
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
"Don't worry. You'll be paying soon." Asta said setting down her own stack. "We sometimes do designated hunters. Meaning we go after the big stuff. Our turn is coming up. The trip tends to last about a week, but we get the big game. The York Family always brings the best." Asta said, grinning as they continued to walk to the Main Tent. She opened the flap and headed to the main fire pit where there was meat sizzling on the pan, red berry jam was set to the side and home made bread was sliced. Asta pick up and pay for herself and for Shageon, handing him his.
"The trip is next week. So we prep during weekend and set off on the next day. This will be part of you payment. After the trip we can talk more. But until then, I still train you."
"Sounds good, thank you." He takes the meat licking his lips and copies the dish he sees another tribe member eating nearby "after the trip do you consider me trained?" He tries not to worry about getting in trouble, but he still can't help himself from looking around for her father and other figures of authority while he tastes the plate
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
"Depends, but I'm sure you'll do good." was all Asta said as they reached the York fire. Gran was sitting by herself, Heilda was chatting with some of the other girls. Asta took a seat, placing her food before her. Gran looked and squinted at Asta.
"What the hell happened to your face?" She asked gruffly, before continuing eating.
"It doesn't need stitches and I doubt that there be a large scar." Asta said, taking a bite of the bread
"Good," Gran said with her mouth full, "Zeek won't give me great great grandbabies so your going to have to."
"Right." There was a heavy silence as the conversation drifted off.
Shageon silently watches the two women talk about babies and eats. When the silence gets heavy, Shageon tries to crack it by saying "well i think Asta would make great, great grand babies however, maybe you could talk about some story of what you did in years past? I always love those stories..." Shageon finishes eating the food
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
"Gran's story?" Asta asked pointing at her, "She is a Demonic Woman. When Gran was younger, she would suduce men and then dump them like a succubus"
The old woman laughed, it was sharp and loud. "Maybe so, but there was a short period in my time where I traveled alover Le'raana."
"she used to be attractive?" He thinks to himself and then hits himself for thinking that and says "so... you're actually a demon? You've got some magic?" He asks, enthralled in the possibility of finding a new mage
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta laughed out loud, falling over. Gran glared at her granddaughter and looked back at Shageon.
"Everyone one is attractive at some point in their life. And no. I'm not a demon. Asta was just messing around. I have no magic."
"ppfffft Asta you..." he laughs along a tiny bit than says "now i'm super superstitious... and trust me, some people are definitely not attractive at any point of their life" he laughs trying to make a joke
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
"To be attractive doesn't only have to on the outside, but also within." Gran said, very serious
"By the gods..." Asta said looking over to the older lady, still laying on the ground. "He was joking. And that was clique."
"It might have been clique but it was true." Gran turned to Shageon "Don't you think so, Shageon?"
"well... attractiveness is on the outside but you also have to good stuff on the inside or you'll diminish the attractiveness... ugh i don't talk to enough attractive people for this to make sense..." he sighs "like uh, take an ugly grandm-grandpa, nothing he can do will make him attractive. Likewise, the prettiest body in the world wouldn't be attractive if the owner didn't have the insides to take care of it and never bathed and always rolled around in mud... does any of that make sense?"
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Gran Squinted her eyes at Shageon and scoffed.
"Taking it so literal. You young people think to much instead of feeling." She grumbled. Asta sat back up, looking at Shageon and shrugged. There was a clatter and a loud thump as Asta's father got his food and sat down next to Shageon.
He looked up, seeing Asta and grunted. He immediately started eating, watching as Asta shifted in the silence.
"why go with your gut when you're brain has the facts and the logic?" Shageon shrugs "i'd go thinking more than feeling any day of the week... often times feelings even do more bad than good..." Shageon yawns and thinks "thanks to getting up so early I can't go to sleep nearly as late as I usually do... but I can still last a few more hours... hopefully..." then he says to Asta "so... what preparations do we need to make before going on the hunting trip?"
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Asta shrugged, taking a drink.
"We prepare a sled, make sure the Gar'ha are ready, weapons, food, etc." She said, putting her cup back down. Asta glanced at her father before continuing, "For now we finish this week hunting, set up over weekend, leave the following morning."
"so in other words there's nothing i should worry about for a bit... got it. What do you usually do after dark here? Besides sleep of course." he pulls out a knife and starts sharpening it just to do something with his hands
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
"We sing, drink, and dance." Zeek said, coming up from behind and sitting next to Asta. "And we just so happen to be very good at them. If everyone gets drunk enough, there be a drawl."
