Iridescent blue scales shimmer down the neck, sides, legs, and tail of the long, serpentine body of Tatsu, the color fades to a dazzling silver on his underbelly. Frosty blue eyes gleam brightly with magic, lacking iris or pupil. Scales are seamlessly complimented by soft, fine fur of cerulean blue; his flowing mane mirrors the energetic color of the rest of his fur.

Tatsu's long body is slender but also heavily muscled, his legs aren't particularly long compared to his length, both front and back legs are equipped with paws capable of lifting and gripping things, with five fingers on each foot, each finger ends with a six inch curved talon. The mane that runs from his brow to the tip of his tail ends in a long tuft. The tail itself is long, prehensile, and very powerful.

A long and graceful neck leads up to a slender, almost deer-like head(including external ears), the fur is more prominent than scales upon the head, with a single long fur-covered whisker set behind the each nostril, dangling about two feet down. Two long, ridged horns with a soft slope back protrude from his head, just forward and above his ears. His teeth are those of an omnivore, with his fangs barely reaching three inches long.

Personality:

Tatsu is as immovable as a mountain, you could no more steer him off course than you could change the flow of a mighty river with your bare hands. He is patient, placid, and compassionate. It would take a great deal of prodding to invoke the ire of this peaceful creature, or at least the right prodding.

While quite agreeable in disposition, when threatened his kind are a force to be reckoned with and Tatsu is not an exception to this. Non-violence is his preference, but he will fiercely protect the innocent or something he cares for.

Despite his great tolerance for things, he is not a happy creature. Disinterested and distant, perhaps even aloof are not things you would be wrong to call him. To be perfectly honest he's a very depressed creature with a tendency to self-pity and despair. Perhaps even a bit melodramatic.

He loves beauty, art, and music. Humans fascinate him because of their explosive personalities; they are always moving, always busy. They don't slow down and despite their short lives; they manage to accomplish quite a lot. Tatsu has every reason to hate humans, but he doesn't hold any animosity towards the race that destroyed his kind.

History:

In the colony of dragons to which Tatsu was born parental interference was expressly forbidden. All hatchlings were to be raised communally, with no adult having more influence than another, save the council of elders. Every dragoness laid her eggs in the hatchery. This is where Tatsu was born.

Growing up he was supervised by countless adults, each wishing to teach him something, so he spent much of his time learning. He would play, eat, and sleep with the other hatchlings, none were given preferential treatment, none were considered better or worse than another. They were all rewarded and punished without discrimination, so they thought that everything was fair.

By the time he began approaching sexual maturity, like all the other hatchlings, his own unique strengths had been brought to light and carefully nurtured. His role in the colony became a guardian, even before he could mate himself; he began his role of watching over the eggs of others within the clan.

An older female, red and gold and beautiful as the dawn, selected him as her life mate only seventy years after he became old enough to breed. A mere hundred years later, Tatsu's lazy, care-free life was shattered. Because of his kinds natural arcane energy, humans had been hunting them for years, which was only barely tolerated. However, the humans became greedy, killing more and more of the colony until the colony's females lost their patience.

The bloodshed that followed was horrifying, and in the end, the entire colony was wiped out, each adult dead or dying, each egg broken. All except Tatsu. He managed to escape the carnage, fleeing for his life with grievous wounds. To this day he doesn't believe a single other of his kind to have survived.
