(I was listening to Slip to the Void- by Alter Bridge while writing this~ Love that band X3)

--------------------------------

The sky was red as blood, its color pooling across the glass desert dunes, which warped the reflection and shadows cast down upon him from the roaring beast. It's fangs were hot with blood and drool, it's eyes wild and hungered and it's body, massive with scales and spikes adorning all over its serptentile form. The beast now raised up many stories high, it's shadow seeming to stretch across the entirety of Seraj Isa, while it's thousands of clawed hands reached out for him, clawing and scraping at the glass.

The man backed away, jumping quite a few times to avoid the deadly claws that pierced and screeched into the slippery glass.  The man's mismatching eyes, one red, one blue, stared up at the beast, focusing on the spikey fins running along the beast's spine, which now appeared to have darker, blood red tips as they captured the glow of the fading sun, an image which danced in a thousand relfections splayed across the breath of the glass dunes that surrounded them. It's face had a spray of fanned spiked fins that were open now as the beast's massive jaw roared, teeth snapping down towards the man below. It was angry.  And its aim was to kill.

The man with the mismatching eyes also had a pair of mismatching wings, one being nasty, leathery and black, similar to that of bats, with bulging, blue and red veins lacing along the inside. The other one was soft and beautiful and adorned with pure-white feathers, soft and perfect, like an angel's. It seemed this man was outmatched, even with his oddities. Though the battle had been going on for days, until both the pair had landed in the more secluded region of the Glass Desert where they continued to fight a bitter and unending battle of rage and wit.

By now, most of Jayo's clothing had been torn, blood staining what was left of it and coating well and thick into his hair. His muscles were strained, but he held on fast to his massive, double sided blade, while the demon eye on the darker, more gnarled end of it, peered up at the dragon-like beast. It was then the beast struck down with fury, it' thousands of hands came crashing down upon him. Jayo tried to move fast, hacking off a few limbs, but the beast used all of it's weight, and crushed him down against the glass, cracking the surface beneath it's weight.

But the beast's decision to try to crush Jayo was not without repercussions, as the demonic end of Jayo's blade cut in deep within it's flesh. Hot, bubbling blood began to spill around him, coating his body and dribbling off and collecting into the deep cuts and cracks within the glass beneath his back. His wings were smashed, and might have been broken, so he was thankful when the beast lifted its weight to roar in pain.

This victory was short lived as the beast snatched at him again, squeezing him tight while the blood from it's wound fell down upon the glass like rain. Even now as Jayo pushed the sword in deeper into the beast's belly, he found himself straining as his hand on the hilt nearly disappeared deep into the beast's flesh.

She roared out, angered and surprised that entirety of one end of his blade had pushed into her body. Though she was a large beast, it still hurt like hell, like a thorn in her side and she was losing blood fast. Though the beast had no wings, it took to the air, sailing just above the desert as it's body flowed like the rippling waves of the ocean, it's limbs moving in sequence, except the ten or so that had been latching on tightly to Jayo.

The glass desert moved fast beneath him, peeling away as the beast headed towards the sunset. He knew he had to act fast, lest they keep up this barbaric dance for long. The beast needed to be sedated, or killed, and the glass desert offered the perfect opportunity for it.
Struggling beneath the arms, Jayo yanked his sword free in a few, grunted motions, and held it out with one free hand, while struggling to free his other one. But with his sword free, he simply hacked off the limbs trying to contain him, and soon was plummeting to the ground. His wings snapped out at the last moment as he coasted along the glass floor and landed somewhere in the middle of a massive glass valley.

It was here he felt the prickle of glass beneath him when he landed in a crouch. The glass was delicate here, not hard and unyielding like the parts they had been fighting on before. He took a few cautious steps as he turned around, just as the beast was making a wide turn and heading straight back for him. Now it's massive mouth was open wide, ready to swallow him whole.

But Jayo didn't move. He did not flinch, but remained standing, hands tensing, veins popping as he grabbed onto the hilt of his sword, which was still coated thickly in blood. His wings bristled, and were tense at his back; and soon the beast was nearly upon him- and he braced himself for the inevitable as the massive jaws came clamping down upon him with such a force, the delicate glass shattered beneath.

And there was a ripple effect as the entirety of the thin valley of glass shattered in a wicked explosion of spitting glass, and soon blood, shards of glass and darkness consumed the pair as they tumbled into the world below- a world full of ancient black sands that were several miles below the thin surface of the glass above-

And the last thing Jayo saw was the first glittering lights of twilight as he summoned a great force from within, using all of his powers to melt and recongeal the glass surface above. And from tht power an ocean of liquid sands rushed  upon them, crushing them and encasing both man and beast within.

Now, several miles deep lay the beast in slumber, forever tapped beneath a lid of glass. And just above him- moving forward, staring up, body poised as if reaching, swimming towards the sun... was a man, with ripped clothes, skin showing, blood staining across his face and all over his body with torn hair hiding his red eye, but his blue one remained, soft and placid, staring up as he remained frozen, just a few feet deep within the glass with his wings spread open and beautiful, frozen there for all time.

Though it had been several years, maybe even thousands of years since their battle, Jayo's powers were hardly dormant, and soon a soft, unseen pulse of his powers began to eminent from where he was trapped, an unseen, unheard calling to those of a like kind- Angel, demon or beast.  Before he had been frozen, he had been swimming through the solidifying glass, though he hadn't quite made it, and suffered the consequence the same as the beast several miles beneath him. Though there was a ray of hope, he had seen the sky and had been reaching for it- and now, forever locked within the glass, he would forever see that sky, but would not be able to touch it.

Though he yearned for it, wanted it so badly that his desires were screaming in silence.
Surely someone.. something would hear him.
But even still.. what could anyone do to break such a thick layer of glass?
And even now, as Jayo's powers were beginning to awaken, beginning to seep into the world around him- so was that of the sleeping beast who was disguised and hidden in the dark shadows below.  Jayo was not the only one screaming out in silence for freedom.. for a second chance.

Laraine

Laraine wondered why the heck she decided to try to hide from the demons in a glass desert of all places.

It wasn't smart on her part. Not only were demons thriving in these dry and hot conditions, but there was pretty much nowhere to hide. The glass floor too at times was rather slick and she more or less took quite a few dips and face plants. It was sad really to see her scrambling to get away from a laughing demon, one which had a similar hair color to her own. Pink rose colored hair was a oddity even in this world. Only a few breeds of demons had it and very rarely did humans have it at all.

Raine herself was half demon, half witch and the psychotic red eyed, pink haired male flying after her was sadly her cousin.

Frankly she couldn't even remember his name since they all rather blended in together.

"Ohhh Raine~" He taunted, rushing after her. "Why are you running away from me? I just want to play!" At this he slammed his feet down to the ground, causing a slight quake to crack the glass beneath him.

Losing her balance, Raine let out a yelp and hit the damn glass floor AGAIN. She was really getting tired of this. Sighing, she grabbed her wand and pointed it at the demon who was walking towards her. Each step causing a spideweb of cracks on the surface of the shiny yet hard substance.

"Back off!" Raine warned, looking a little unnerved. This was the most insane Risk family member they had sent yet.

The man who appeared to be in his early twenties chuckled. "Or you'll what? Kill me like your poor boyfriend?" The man sneered. His longish hair was tied behind him and he wore rather simple black clothes. But they were adorned with gold outlining and he even wore pretty nice shoes. Over his shoulder though he carried a weapon. A chain of metal. She had learned first hand that this mans power was over metal and he could control it.

The Risks were a unique band of demons. Each had their own power. It seemed crazytown here could bend any type of metal into something like a weapon. Although he preferred chains.

Raine managed to smile a little. "Oh? That's not a bad idea. I think impaling one of you bastards would give them the hint to leave me alone. Don't you think?" She said, once more pointing the wand straight at his chest.

"Go on little half breed. I'd like to see you try~" His red eyes began to glow as he launched the chain at her full force. Piercing the air like a arrow it was coming straight for her. Whispering a incantation she used the glass to form a wall, the chain slamming into it and falling harmlessly to one side. After all the glass in this desert was special. Smirking she whispered the spell more and more and more large slates of glass surrounded the man forming a labyrinth of glass like mirrors around him.

Her reflection stared at him from all around.

"Why you little!" he hissed and flung the chain, breaking all the slates of glass in his way and reducing them to splinters of glittering yet painful snow.

Meanwhile, Laraine took this chance to get away and began to stumble around rather blindly through the desert. Just focusing on the next step she took. However that never ended well in her situation. She was near where a old glass valley was. Luckily though when she tripped and fell and tumbled the way down, it wasn't as far down as she would have thought. Still she hit the bottom of the valley rather harshly and let out a whine before pulling herself up a bit to breathe. She gasped and opened her eyes, trying to catch her breath when a rather shocking sight appeared to her.

Yelping and backing up, she swore she saw....something...down there. Inside the glass floor...

Hesitating, she wandered back over and once again noticed it. He was...still pretty far down but she could see..the outline...was it...a man?

But she also noticed those badly damaged wings and frowned a bit. "Wha...what is this?" She whispered and wiped at the glass surface to try to see better. But she couldn't and the sun was beginning to slowly set. She knew she would have to make up her mind soon at what to do with this...man..she saw below him. "How...sad...are you trapped there?" She wondered if the other could hear her.

She was rather conflicted. Considering she already had a half crazed demon on her backside...if she woke this guy and he was just as dangerous things could end.....well..badly for her.

But then Danny's voice rang into her ears and she sighed. "Fine fine...whatever.." She stood up and pointed her wand at the glass before her. She whispered another spells and closed her eyes, her body glowing a bright purple before a portion of the glass in front of her began to soften. She focused on turning the glass to liquid, hopefully giving the man beneath it a chance to escape.

visualspice

The second her face appeared through the clouded glass, it appeared as if he were looking straight out her, a hand reaching forth. Though as she spoke to him, or it seemed herself, he naturally- did not move. Though it was hard to say- did his eyes flicker? Was there some sort of resignation?

But his pulse was strong, and it only grew stronger as the glass began to melt, and as it slipped down his form like a clear, thick pudding, his wings finishing giving their powerful flap, and suddenly he was breaking through the surface.

Where the thicker glass surrounding what was softening exploded, it allowed for enough room for he and his massive wings to break through- as broken glass and gobs of melted glass exploded all around in one powerful burst. The faint lights of the fading sun cast the liquid glass coated man and his remnants in hot pink and orange colors, that danced across his form as he remained hoovering in the air for a moment while the liquid glass was dripping off slowly from his form.
and his eyes darted around wildly, as if waiting for a fight, his weapon- held tight within his hand, suddenly turned to look at her with it's one single demon red eye on the darkened end of it- and what appeared like veins across the sword pulsed. It was only then did the flying man turn his eyes to the woman. And they didn't appear to be a welcoming pair of eyes at all.

Laraine

Raine simply blinked as she watched the others rather amazing escape. Shielding her face and eyes as the explosion of glass sprinkled around her. She sighed softly, great. Now that idiot that was following her was sure to come this direction. Couldn't life or death escapes ever be done quietly?

Of course, she realized that the man...er....well whatever he was stared at her in a hostile manner and she gave a small smile, suddenly feeling like this could turn badly and cursing her ex boyfriend for influencing her judgement. Apparently it was also going to kill HER too.

"Er...Hello.." She waved a bit weakly and bit her lip. She tried to keep a smile on her face, and held up both her hands as if in surrender so maybe...hopefully the other wouldn't attack straight away.

Even if he did, she'd have a shield up in no time. Besides...maybe this would be a good distraction to get those two to fight each other while she high tailed it. "Nice to meet you? Names Raine.. I kinda..sorta...freed you from..." She pointed to the melted glass floor, which seemed to slowly be solidifying again.

Of course she wasn't sure what else to say, her hood falling slightly to reveal her rose colored hair. It was long, too long really, reaching her shoulders and slightly beyond and her amethyst tinted eyes blinking at the other with a little bit of warmth.

"Well....I guess I'll go then..." she turned to leave, walking two steps before slipping and once more falling flat on her face. "OW! Not again." she whined. Sitting there and crossing her arms. "Why is it I can't walk on this stupid surface..."

visualspice

If he understood what the woman was muttering, it did not register on his face. He simply stared at her, then down towards the ground, that was solidifying- but not fast enough. There was a sudden violent shaking of the glass floor- and if Raine thought she'd have trouble standing before, she'd have to think again!

The man's eyes darted down to the glass, where he began to see the massive skull of the beast he had challenged so many years ago-
and just as it was so many eons ago- the beast was hungry-

and very, very pissed.

Knowing the solidifying glass was not about to hold back the beast's fury for long, the man swooped down and scooped up the woman and the pair were suddenly air borne- just as the creature burst forth from the glass floor- teeth chomping into the air- mere inches from their feet.

Laraine

Raine realized when the ground started to shake again, she was in trouble. Letting out a yelp she barely was able to fall to her knees before she opened her eyes and saw it. That large....monster below the ice that was rapidly clawing its way up. With a look of horror in her eyes she barely had time to move before the strange man swooped down, scooped her up and took off with her into the sky.

She let out a small shriek, gripping onto the other tightly and staring down the monster that was snapping at their feet. Her heart was beating rapidly into her chest, still clutching her wand but also wrapping her arms around the back of the others neck as they flew up.

"W-What the hell is that?!" She glanced back up at the man, baffled before glancing down and realizing they were in some real danger.

Making sure she had a good grip onto him with one arm, she flung her arm holding the wand down towards the beast and whispered a few words. A blast of pure dark energy erupted from the crystal wand and hit the monster straight into the face. She kept blasting at it, hoping that it would back off or die.

Either which she was fine with. But pressing so close to this stranger was causing her some...discomfort and she wanted down as soon as it was safe.

She might have been a little...afraid of heights.

visualspice

If anything, the dark blasts of magic seemed to piss the creature off, and back down into the weakened glass it crashed, sending a wave of shards hurling into the air. But the man did not stop to look back, and kept flying, up and up.

Laraine

Raine yelped when the other seemed to just keep going up and up and her heart was pounding a mile a minute, slightly freaking out as the other continued to soar higher and higher. She was terrified that they would never go back to the ground. So she squirmed in his arms a bit. "Please! Let's go back down! Where are we going?!" She asked, still quite scared.

Sure she was scared of the monster below them too. But right now.. she was more terrified if the other dropped her. Glancing up at him finally, her violet eyes shone a bit, confused and a little afraid. She hadn't heard the other speak at all this whole time and she still remembered the way he looked at her when he emerged from the glass.

She didn't trust this...person, but at the point she had little that she could without falling to her death. So she ceased her movement and sighed, trying to calm her racing heart.

visualspice

As the pair continued to ascend, the man's wings giving another strong beat to pull them higher, the beast below bellowed and writhed and smashed all of the glass desert dunes beneath them, exposing the raw, dark underbelly of the Seraj Isa to the sky. But even as the world seemed to tremble with the might and anger of the beast, the man continued to fly upwards and onwards, as if seeking the clouds....

And his flying did not level up until that was where they ended up, bodies parting through the delicate clouds that tickled against their body, and glossing the pair of them both with unfallen rain. Another beat of his wings took them just above to the second layer of clouds, where there, he was content to fly even straighter, keeping up pace with the horizon, even as the world below was now blinded from them with clouds.

Laraine

Raine really didn't have a choice but to grasp onto the man with everything she had. After all, it was a long way down with a rather dangerous beast lying in wait. Not to mention a rather angry relative of hers that she'd rather not see again.

But still, she was feeling unnerved until they broke through the second layer of clouds and she felt the water tickle her skin. She shivered a bit, eyes closed and then blinked, taking a look around herself and her jaw opening slightly in awe. "Beautiful..." She whispered, looking at the horizon. She had never ever been up this high before. It was simply amazing. Her fear was slowly starting to fade away from her.

Until the other decided to fly more. She gasped and then looked up at the man who had since then, been silent. "W-Where are we going?" She asked the other, not sure if she would even get a answer. But still she looked ahead where they were going and swallowed nervously.

Biting her lip, she looked up at the other and gave a small smile. "By the way.. I never did catch your name... "

visualspice

Never caught his name? And she never would. The man didn't spare a glance her way, wings beating steady as they remained at a steady altitude above the clouds. He didn't even seem to look at her, despite their obvious closeness, and kept on flying towards the sun. It's rays at least offered the pair some subtle warmth, but the roar of the beast bellow them, even from this height, could be felt as it echoed in the misty world of clouds. Though it did not seem as close as it was before, and with that in mind, the man continued to fly onward.
