And off Han went, executing a perfect dive like a champ. Yun gave a whoop and applauded when he surfaced, and raced to the ladder to scale it quickly. "That was pretty good!" she said as she reached the top and moved for the edge.
"But allow me to show you how a warrior does it!"
And as she stood at the edge looking down, she drew in a deep breath. The truth was, Yun wasn't so great with heights. Oh, it was fine once she jumped, and then she'd want to do it again, but it was always that first time that got her. But she'd always jump despite her nerves, because that was what a warrior did. After all, being brave wasn't about being fearless, as Kuan had told her once. It was about being afraid and acting despite it.
And so, with a wide grin down at Han, Yun backed up several paces before she took a running leap off the edge, tucking her knees to her chest and curling her arms around her legs as she plummeted with a delighted shout. "Here I come!"
She hit the water beside him with a huge splash, then surfaced and spit out a fountain of water at him, laughing. Her hair had come out of its usual bun and fell around her shoulders, and she tread water beside him, beaming. "How'd ya like that?"
