Mephistel

Night had fallen over the city, growling with night life and other activities. The nobles were enjoying their fancy parties while the med class would find themselves in smaller communes over bars and inn, enjoying a drink or two. The poor couldn't even afford such festivities as they roam the streets without a penny to survive, not knowing if that night would be the last.

Atop one of the great hill, stood a large mansion, with many rooms and windows, that many it was easy to lost count. That house belonged to an old woman with so much riches, she could easily bath in a different set everyday of the year. That old woman had lost her husband a few years ago and had been throwing parties over and over to forget the loneliness of his absence.

That night was particular, it was the third anniversary of her husband death and for such an occasion, she had invited many guest to her house, for one of the most luxurious bal around. Food and wine by the hundred, guest as many as the room could let in. Musicians of renown to entertain the nobles.

Each and everyone wearing those fancy dresses and tailcoat. So many people from high class society, and yet, among them, two street rats...two cat burglar in the disguise. Jack and Jascen had been invited by the lady herself to perform as acrobats during the event, in order to entertain the crowd. It hadn't been easy to get the invitation but the two brothers had manage to get her attention while performing in the streets in certain spot where she was known to shop. Jack had made it this way so they would be noticed and the plan had bear fruits.

They were getting ready for their show. Jack went to Jascen, smiling softly.

-Ready?-

He asked his elder as the crowd was waiting in anticipation of their performance.

"Hell yeah I'm ready.  All this waiting around is making me antsy," Jascen said with a sigh.  They'd been waiting in a servant's antechamber to allow them to prepare for their performance.  Other servants had set up their rigs and vaulting equipment as necessary in the space they were allotted to perform.

Jascen had been wearing the snug but comfortable outfit designed for their profession.  It wasn't glamorous, but it got the job done, clothing identical to Jack's.

"Heh, I hope this means you're ready, little brother," Jascen murmured and nudged the younger man on the shoulder.  Just as they were being announced, he rolled his shoulders and cracked his neck, and emerged from the partition as music began to play.

The time for their act had come.

Jascen came out with a row of backflips, twirling in the air and landing after four with a presentative pose awaiting his brother.

Jack smiled at his brother, he was also wearing their common acrobat uniform. It well showed their body forms. It was mostly black with some bright colors on the sleeves and around the legs, with red, gold and purple diagonal stripes, giving them a fancy and yet attractive look.

He gave back a determine look to his elder.

-Of course I am...-

He said, softly. Jack never spoke too loudly, he was more quiet then his partner, but it didn't mean he wasn't noticeable. As they were announce, Jack had quickly went over their little show. Both had solo and joint act to perform, the goal was to be in sync in the most crucial parts.

He watch as his brother made his entrance, following up. he entered as well. As he was lighter, he was the one usually been carried for aerial acrobatics. Entering with a few backflip as well, the last run made, he jumped, twirled his body and landed gracefully on Jascen's shoulder, which had gotten ready to welcome him. He strike a pose as the crowd was already looking at them in anticipation.

The trempoline, the bar and the pole were waiting for them to be use.

Jascen braced himself and when his brother approached, he lowered himself and then caught the younger man by the ankles, holding him up on his shoulder as their entrance was applauded.  Being smaller meant Jack was easier to carry.  It didn't take much effort in that regardless, and when he set him down, Jascen was the first up on the trampoline that would launch them up to the rafters.

Jascen threw himself onto the trampoline and drew his body upward, holding hands behind his knees and pulling himself down into a tight ball.  As he opened his body he grabbed onto the bar and whirled around counterclockwise before throwing himself off of it and grabbing the rope that hung from the rafters, climbing up the knotted ends to the ceiling.

He gazed down at his brother, grinning and waiting for him to top that.

Jack smiled as his brother went on ahead, he was always looking at him with that competitive smile and Jack never failed to answer, even tough, he was never the one to start it. Looking at him while not staying still, he started running toward the trampoline, twisting his body at the last second to make a backflip in mid air to get onto the jumping pond. His reach was shorter so he had to take an extra jump to reach for the bar.

Doing so, he grabbed the bar, making a round at it while switching hand, his timing had to be precise or he could fall and without taking a break, got back into the air, reaching for the long silk rope. It was always his favorite because of the thrill it gave him. So far off into the air, the music was changing accordingly. He grabbed himself around the silk, twirling and bending along with it, sometimes faking to fall down as the crowd let out a ''aaahh!!'' out of fear, but the young contorsionist wasn't effraid, his hands tightened around the silk as he moved along with incredible flexibility. The Silk rope was one of the solo number they made.

He went on, showing strenght and flexibility into beautiful artistic moves, the only thing keeping him safe was that small soft piece of tissue as he was more then twenty to thirty feet into the air, he felt great, he felt free and he was happy because so much people were looking, it almost made him feel like they were back in the circus, with everyone else. But right now, his only partner was his brother, the one he was trusting with his life everytime they performed.

Ending it with one last fall, he smiled to his brother.

Lion

He could trust him with his life.  Jascen would make sure of it.  Once his younger brother had made his landing, he secured his hand around his wrist and raised it up so that their arms made an 'A' shape.  The crowd clapped and whooped with delight, calling out for more.

The sound of coins hitting the floor was an interesting notion, and Jascen looked down from the rafters as a few of the nobles had taken to throwing coins into the center of the room as if that would somehow encourage an encore.  It certainly didn't hurt.

"If we didn't know any better, I'd say they thought we were street peddlers.  Which we are, but they don't know that.  I guess, they think anyone'll just bow to their coin."

Jascen shrugged.  "No matter.  We've still got the rest of the night ahead of us," he chuckled and clapped his brother on the shoulder.  "Take to the right over there.  Unhook the trapeze."  Once it was ready, he climbed up onto it and swung hard, setting it in motion until he hooked his legs around it and hung upside down.  He kept the rhythm, holding out his arms for his brother to grasp.

Jack smiled at the sight of the coins, it was funny an amusing, but indeed, it wouldn't hurt.

-Noble will always be noble huh?-

He gave a wink to his brother as their acrobatics show was well on his way and making the crowd eager for more. As they went each to their trapeze, they were ready for a little teamwork. Jack readied his side, standing on it and setting it into motion as well as he saw his brother do the same. He knew what was coming, so he timed himself as he reached for the highest peak of the trapeze, he jumped from the bar and twisted his body into a backflip before extending his hands, reaching for his brother's hands. They joined together, holding tight as he was now in balance with him.

The crowd, once again cheered for them. As they made it back and forth, Jack took notice of his own trapeze position and with Jascen help. A little throw into the air, he made it back to his own, first hanging by the hands and making it back up, then upside down again with one leg. The next one would be a little more touchy, as the two brothers were to exchange place while performing a very close acrobatic. if they hit each other, it could throw them both off and it could be very dangerous.

Lion

Doing stunts like this was dangerous even if they weren't high up.  A bad twist could snap a wrist, sprain an ankle, break a neck.  But this high up, death was certainly more of a threat.  One that even Jascen would acknowledge was imminent but wouldn't prevent him from letting himself have a good time.  As ever, he was ready when Jack came for him again.

He turned on the trapeze so that he was standing, and holding onto the wires that held it up.  Leaning down hard, he pressed his weight into the trapeze, making it swing harder than ever before.  He jumped when the moment was right, throwing himself up and over Jack, seeing his brother only briefly as he moved beneath him.  Jascen reached out to grasp the other trapeze bar, grabbing it barely by the tips of his fingers.

He held his breath, pushing out his shoulders just a little further, until his fingers wrapped around the bar and the arc of his body angled in such a way he could have easily lost his grip.  But he held on tight, and swung down to the opposing side, flipping up and turning at just the right time.

These kind of moments were exciting, thrilling to the bones and the chills that run down his spine every time was the best parts. As if the whole world was his, he was flying, like a bird. He looked at his brother, he was ready.

Up on the trapeze, Jack started to swing, until it reached it's peak and jumped, twirling his body under his brother, reaching out his hand toward his trapeze. He catch himself with one hand, the shock was hard and he wince a little, but still manage to catch himself and get back on the small pole. He turned around, seen his brother. They were still swinging. He was ready to jump again for his brother to catch him, this time by the ankles, to he could make figures while been in the air.

The usual sign that the other was ready was exchange and once more, Jack jumped into the air, one front flip for his brother to catch him.
