He watched Karida shift, his head cocked to the side in curiosity. She looked so happy and peaceful as she lay there in the grass looking up at the stars. He just sat down in wolf form, watching and listening intently as she began to tell him about her past. He didn't shift, he didn't move. He didn't even make a sound while she spoke. His eyes began to well up with tears once more as she told him of the pains she went through, not even knowing if her family was dead or alive. She didn't seem to want to know.
A shiver ran down his spine as she finished her tale. He stood up, slowly, and walked over beside her. He was just out of eyesight, but she would see a dark figure changing shape as he shifted back to human form, laying down beside her. She would feel the warmth of his hand over hers, lacing their fingers together on her chest. "I'm here now." he said softly, his mouth so close to the side of her head that she would be able to feel his warm breath tickling her ear as it left his mouth. "I'm here now and we're together. That's all that matters." his eyes closed then, his hand still interlocked with hers turning her gently onto her side and pulling her closer. He felt himself dozing off then, the comfort of having her in his arms too great for him to want to move from that spot. He lifted his head slightly, opening his eyes and kissing her neck before returning his head back to rest upon the ground. "Goodnight, Karida.." a whisper so low she would barely be able to hear it. He dozed off then, dreams of the two of them dancing around his mind as he did, a smile still on his face.
