Rising out of a bush, which happened to be the one Hikaru as eating from, Deidre found a leaf to settle upon.  She figured the girl, being bigger than her, would need more time to fill herself on the berries.  "You would appreciate the raspberries, unfortunately, it's past their season."  Then she looked up into the girl's face, and started laughing.  The look on Hikaru's face reminded Deidre of someone she knew a very long time ago.  He, like the girl, was eating strawberries on the other side of a bush.  Though, a dribble of red juice was sliding its way down his chin, and when Deidre began to laugh, he asked, "What Dei, what are you laughin' at?"  And looked around, searching for the source of her laughter, only making Deidre laugh harder.  Sighing, she looked up to the canopy of the forest, and looking towards the west, and said, "They will probably be by the river now."  And smiling she said, "Ready when you are."

Hikaru stood in a state of blissfulness as the taste of strawberry spread inside her mouth. She nodded as Deidre spoke, but to tell the truth she was thinking more of the strawberries than what the fairy was actually saying. She had been slightly startled when the fairy had rose out of the bush but her love for strawberries especially firmly formed a 'Strawberries>Surprise' inside her. This, however, changed when Deidre started laughing. She smiled back brightly, assuming that the fairy was enjoying the berries, when it occurred to her that Deidre may be laughing at her. She looked down and hastily rubbed her mouth. After making sure that there was nothing about her funny, Hikaru peered around the clearing, searching for the reason for her laughter.

Hikaru grinned happily back at Deidre, nodded and stood up. Then she winced and sat back down again. Turning her foot over, she discovered that a thorn like something was stuck in the hard skin of her right foot. She carefully pulled it out, and looked at it. She wasn't sure what it was. It looked like a thorn but it could be the stinger of some bug or something or the other.
Looking back to her foot, she wondered why the blood was forming a perfect circle. Any other place and blood would have just flowed, but underfoot it would come out slowly and form a round ball. Hikaru rubbed it, staining her finger red and wondered what in the world she should do with it.
She did have some band-aids she had brought with her but there was no way she could put it on in front of Deidre. Besides, it would be horrid if she lost it somewhere in the forest. She giggled inwardly at the thought. What if, millions of years later, Earth became more like her own, and someone found a fossil of a band-aid?

Finally deciding that there was not much she could do about it, she stood up and gingerly placed her foot on the ground. It was okay, it didn't hurt much.
She smiled at Deidre.
"I'm sorry, I'm ready now!"
