Traveling to the forest was a boat, the sails large and white. Carrying maybe ten men, ready for work to find gold, jewels, and anything of value they could find. Whispers of savages and native americans began to creep around the boat, however their was one man that didnt seem to be worried. The others sipmly wanted a chance to run one through with their handy swords.
After a few days they reached a plentiful and green forest, tree's higher than most buildings, as high as castles. The boat morred, pushing dirt up on land. Rope ladders flung over the side, men uloading equiptment to dig.

Thundra swam in the ocean, the water carresing her very very tan skin, wetting her long deep brown hair to make it seem black. She wore leather skins fora dress and no shoes. As she swam she saw it, the enourmous boat. With an arched eye brow she got out of the water, slunk to the shadows. She couldnt help but want to reach out and touch the wood. Instead she moved silently through the trees' and found a high perch and watched them unload unusual tools, big brown eyes watching curiously.

Teraunce is walking along the path nearby. When he hears the noises nearby, he decides to ask these people if they know how far it is to the next town. Deciding that, he approaches the people on the boat.

When he reaches a guard he asks the guard, "Do you know where the nearest town is that way?" pointing in the direction he was walking in. "Also, what is it that you're unloading here?"

[Careful with the context Farrari, in this time period Native Americans no longer exist.  She can be tribal like but it's possible to make up your own culture and base it off a historical tribe.]

Bloodwork was always a messy business but Thorn thanked whatever immortal god out there that this jaunt was a mere escort mission.  Sure he was mostly an assassin, taking out the trash that other scumbags wanted out of the way and he didn't mind so long as their money was good.  But there were times he's rather get away from having to use his powers.  Reading someone's aura was only half the job, the other was mostly in finding a way in disposing the body.  So anyone could see why calling himself a mercenary and getting hired to guard a ship while the men did whatever the hell they wanted to was a vacation compared to his night job.

His coat protected his broad body from the starkly cold sea air and though black in color, protected him from the heat as well.  He was a simple person and didn't need fancy clothes to go seafaring.  A plain cotton shirt, navy blue pants and mid-calf leather boots were all the clothes he needed on this voyage.  Well, that and his trusty dagger that was really more like a short sword than anything else.

He knew the Niahi woods were a dangerous place, almost as vicious as the dark streets of Arca at around midnight.  And surely he'd heard of the stories of what some of the natives did to outlanders.  He grimaced and scratched the five o'clock shadow growing on his face before walking down the ramp at the ship landed.  The splash of the anchor could be heard in the distance and it was a surefire sign that they would be staying here for a while.

Yet out of no where another being came into the group and it was at first sight that Thorn reached for his dagger.  He wasn't about to pull it on the man but he was prepared to do what he had to.  Still it seemed wherever he went he always had to kill somebody.  Hopefully this time would be different.  "Town?  No, none that I know of.  And as to what we're unloading...  Who wants to know?" he asked sternly, watching the stranger approach.

Ter sees this stranger about to draw his weapon so he hastily says while backing away with his hands in the air, "There's no reason to fight. I was asking out of simple curiosity. I wish you had known where there was a nearby town, because, I'm new to the area and erm *sweatdrops* I'm lost. I doubt i could find my way back either."

Thorn sniffed the air scoffingly.  "Is that so, huh?" he didn't want to believe the kid one bit.  "You look like a resourceful person. Why wouldn't you be able to handle yourself?"  Despite all opposition, he still kept his hand at the dagger.  It didn't matter whether or not a potential opponent proclaimed they didn't want to fight for there was always the possibility of getting stabbed in the back and he wasn't about to let that happen twice.

"Why should I believe you?"

Seeing he still isn't being believed, Ter says, "Because if i had wanted to kill you, i could just have fired an arrow from that tree branch over there," he says while pointing at a treebranch that would conceal the archer, but give said archer a perfect view of the guard. "Would I be able to handle myself, more than likely. There's just safety in numbers and I am very, very unfamiliar with the beasts that live in these woods. I was going to alternatively ask that if you are spending the night, if i could make camp with you. I'd even spend time on the watch. If you want someone to watch me help with the watch, i don't mind. I just really don't feel like spending a night in these woods by myself," Ter finishes while still pointedly keeping his hand away from his weapon.

Thundra crawled up the tree silently, her long legs carrying her up the brances, hair dripping down her back as she climbed. The bark no longer hurt her fingers or feet, due to being used to nature. Finding a long, sturdy brance she climbed onto it and looked down at the two. She bent down on the branch, laying her stomach on the limb and letting her hair fall down past her shoulders.

Easily she caught such words like 'kill, weapon, and camp'. From what she could tell they would camp together and try to kill any savages or naimals that threatened them, her eyes narrowed as she listened. As she listened to them she also heard the other captain of the ship stand and look rather proud of himself, for she couldnt tell what but all she knew was he was one frilly man.

The men started throwing each other picks, shovels and other such instruments. She watched them woriredly, what did they think they would find in the earths dirt? And why were they staking their claim here? As she pondered this she didnt realize drops of water from her wet hair were landing right next to the two men talking, then when one fell on the mans head thats when she inhaled sharply and burried herself deeper in the tree, using the shadows like a cloak. Bringing her long legs up to her chest, her leather dress still very damp, grazing her fingers along the brach she sat completly still.

Thorn sniffed the indignantly and let go of the hilt of his dagger.  "Well, no use in arguing there," he said with a grimace planted firmly on his brown face.  "Still, I'm not the one you want.  You ought to speak to the captain of the ship here.  I'm just a merc hired to protect these poor bastard that think they can stake their claim here.  Don't know why.  But so long as their money's good, I don't ask any questions.  That's him right--"

However just as he was about to point in the direction of the captain directing his men with their shovels, a lone droplet of water plummeted from a branch high above their heads and subsequently plopped onto Thorn's shoulder.  The weight and sound startled him and he cursed in surprise.  "What the—"  He glanced upward and into the shadow of the trees above.  He furrowed his brows in suspicion, scrutinizing the shadows of the canopy above.  Looking for what seemed like two whole minutes, Thorn gave up when he saw nothing.

"Must be nothing," he said, shaking his head.  With that, he turned back to the other man and looked him over once more.  "Say what's your name, kid?  Maybe we can use another man on the job.  Come see the captain, he might be able to help you out."

"My name's Teraunce Foaloke. As far as this settlement goes, I'd love to help construct something by protecting it when...nevermind. If he can use my help, I'll stay until something untowards happens that forces me to leave, or until i feel the time is right," Ter is walking towards the captain as he says this, "I hope the settlement survives." Ter then speaks to the capt about possible employment.

Lion

"Certainly beats the hell outta me.  I don't give a rat's ass if it does, so long as I get my pay.  Of course in meantime I gotta do what I'm paid to do and I guess that means sticking any savages that try coming into the place."  Thorn nodded a few words to the captain who in gave an intrigued scratching of his chin and approached Teraunce.

He looked over the stranger with a bit of worry gleaming in his eyes and said with reluctance.  "Well, Mr. Blackburn, normally I'd say no, but since we're desperate, I'll take every good man we can get.  So how much you willin' to work for, Mr. uhh...Terrain was it?"

"That's Teraunce, Cap.  And don't bother trying to cheat him out what you wanted to pay me.  Just give him the same rate or it'll be you at the other end of my dagger, you got that?"  He looked back to Teraunce as the captain walked away with a weary nod and back to directing his men.  "That's how we take of business in these parts."

"Well, It's nice to know how you deal with people in these parts. Now, Who shall take the first watch?" Ter says as he watches Mr. Blackburn's skillfull handling of the greedy captain.

[What happened to Farrari?]

"Y'know, now that you mention it.  I just realized I never introduced myself.  Call me Thorn.  As you might've heard from the captain, the last name's Blackburn; Thorn Blackburn."  Thorn walked forward and surveyed the work of the men as they dug deeper into the sand, hacking down unnecessary foliage that was in their way of creating their settlement.

"I'll take the first shift, Ter.  And in the meantime why don't you help out the men or sleep before it's your turn.  Got that?"

"Hmm...Ok, I'll take the second shift Thorn. While waiting I'll help the men clear away some of this forest for a bit before catching some sleep. I just hope your not that light of a sleeper, or else I could be in for some pain tonight when i watch the camp from above. By above, I meant the treetops. Just don't come out if something wakes you up unless it's a cry for help," and saying this, Ter asked some of them where he'd be most useful and helped out till sunset, at which point he went to bed because he had second watch.
