Physical Description:
As anybody who has met her can tell you, Gwendolyn Mittermeyer has gone through hell and back for her country. She is a sturdy woman, slightly taller than average. Her dark brown hair contrasts with her pale skin, making her look almost ghostly. Her once soft facial features have been withered away by scars and stress lines. Her blue eyes are gentle, though they almost always appear tired.

Gwendolyn carries a shield that's nearly as big as she is! It gets in the way a lot, but she seems to have some aversion to setting it down- she's always carrying it.

Personality:
Having fought in the war since it's start without suffering a single defeat, Gwendolyn is a living legend. She is 100% pure good, never wavering in her morality. Stories of her legendary battles and heroics have made her famous, to the point where children pretend to be her when they play make-believe.

This has made Gwendolyn absolutely miserable.

Gwendolyn really is the heroic person people say she is- but the physical and mental strain being this person has taken on her is immense. On top of that, years of fighting have given the adhara a near-crippling case of PTSD. When she speaks it's barely a murmur, as if she's afraid to raise her voice.

Even when she's off duty (which is almost never because she's insanely overworked), Gwendolyn finds herself in a different kind of war- being so well known has caused many people to try and politicize her. It's gotten so bad that she actually dreads having to return to Reajh in between her deployments. All she wants is for the war to end so she can retire, but it looks like that won't be anytime soon.

Gwendolyn despises beurocracies with a passion. She's incredibly jaded towards the Connlaothian government, and has refused promotion (which is often offered to her) because she wants no part in in their decision making. She usually justifies this with quotes from religious texts- there's one instance of Ansgar saying "Let us not hammer nails with handsaws" that Gwendolyn likes to interpret as "don't put me in an office because I belong on the battlefield".

Relationships:
The most important relationship in Gwendolyn's life is the one she shares with Ansgar. She prays every day, and would spend all of Ansgar's Day in church if she could get away with it.

Gwendolyn has a grandfather who she doesn't speak to- she doesn't approve of how he's treated her mother over the years.

Gwendolyn is very attached to her shield, and she brings it everywhere she goes. Many a joke has been made about this by the other Knights of the White Lily, but she tries her best to ignore them.

Magic/Abilities:
Gwendolyn is an Adhara- a Mordecai with the ability to negate all magic as opposed to just casting. Her field extends a modest fifteen feet.

Having been training with the Knights of the White Lily from an early age, Gwendolyn has experience with a number of different weapons, though she prefers a simple longsword in combat. Gwendolyn's specialty, however, is shields. She uses a tower shield in battle, and tales of her skill with it has caused many to refer to Gwendolyn as "Ansgar's Shieldmaiden". Gwendolyn hates this nickname- she feels unworthy of it.

History:
Discovered as an Adhara at the the age of twelve, Gwendolyn Mittermeyer has spent most of her life with the Knights of the White Lily. She showed an aptitude for combat, particularly with fighting defensively. The civil war began a few years after her recruitment, and Gwendolyn was thrust headfirst into into the real world.

It's been ten years since the war began, and Gwendolyn is still fighting. The younger knights have come to see her as a sort of constant- even if everybody else in the order were to perish, Gwendolyn would still be there. She's been getting deployed more and more frequently, and these days she barely even has time to pray.
