The Moonflower Herd

Formed from the ragged remnants of a once mighty centaur Herd that used to roam the Serha Grasslands, the Moonflower Herd is now a small shadow of what it once was. Though their numbers have been decimated, the Herd believes that the essence of who and what they are has survived-- and under the leadership of their newest Lead Mare, the Herd's spiritual guide, they are prepared to do whatever it takes to go on surviving.

History

The Moonflower Herd was officially formed after Camellia, struggling to lead the few survivors of her Herd north into Serendipity after an attack by plains raiders that had absolutely decimated them, stumbled upon a strange fae dwelling she would later learn was called the Moonlit Glade.

The guardian of the Glade, a fae creature called Lakali who rather resembles a centaur herself, took pity or the lost and desperate mare. She sat and listened as Camellia told her of her Herd and their traditions as nomadic hunters and traders, how humans had beat them back time and again from encroaching on their lands, how they and Herds like them had taken to fighting back, believing firmly that they must attack first before they were wiped out forever--and how she feared that it was such action which had led her Herd to ruin.

Lakali comforted the young mare who had lost much in the destruction of her home and family. Only dregs of her Herd survived, and she was meant to lead them, but she did not know how.

So Lakali made her an offer. War had brought only pain and heartache to Camellia's people; the Guardian proposed that perhaps peace would lead them to salvation. As long as the Herd would uphold the ideal of protecting their balance with the world around them, they would travel with the protection of the Moonlit Guardian.

It has been nearly five years since that day, and the Moonflower Herd (named for the Glade where Camellia found their salvation) has slowly rebuilt itself in this new image.
