Physical Description Sophie is 'subhuman', a member of a half-human, half-fauna species which can be considered amongst the 'mutts' of the races of Le'raana. They are the literal result of select humans— or other races entirely— being fused through magical means with the wildlife of the continent, be it willingly or not. As a result, they share many common traits with some of the fauna of the areas in which they come from. Oftentimes these exoctic mortals adopt the traits of powerful fauna— Predators and great beasts. This makes Sophie herself something of a mystery, as she is a rodentkin— meaning that she shares many traits with mice. She has silvery white hair, which falls just short of her shoulders, and a matching pair of piercing blue eyes. Her skin is a tanned, golden-brown color, and she has a comparatively small, button-like nose. But the more defining features of her body are likely her large, round ears which sit atop her head, very much resembling those of mice, and her matching, thin, white tail to go along with it. Her body, while slightly toned by some of the tradework she does, is still rather scrawny compared to that of a hardened warrior or peerless archer. Compared to the average woman, she is relatively small, underdeveloped and scrawny—all the more to add to her 'mousey' appearance, and cause the girl to appear a bit younger than she actually is.

She wears a 'classic adventurer's attire' that she actually designed herself; A tanned, hooded cloak covers much of her body while she travels, onto which she 'fashionably' (for the sake of her sanity, really) sewed a pair of round, mouse ear-holes atop, which her own ears fit through snugly. Beneath said cloak, Sophie's upper attire consists of a white, long-sleeved doublet, which she typically wears with the sleeves rolled up, and a leather vest on top of said shirt for overall protection. She wears  a pair of matching leather gloves, designed with the fingertips cut away to allow for precision hand-crafting or maneuvering where necessary. The gloves have studs on the knuckles—  primarily for decoration, as Sophie and fisticuffs doesn't really mix that well. Sophie wears a utility belt which holds an assortment of items that she uses when crafting or gathering—  A mini-pickaxe, some alchemical ingredients, some ink, a few quills. Most importantly, however, is that on her right hip, there is a leather satchel, in which she keeps a book—  typically one she's writing. Sophie typically wears a pair of form-fitting, khaki-colored short-shorts, and protects her ankles, she wears leather boots, designed with a lightweight steel toe.

Personality

Sophie is an adventurer at heart, and a passionate archeologist at soul. She suffers from one of the most powerful cases of wanderlust ever documented— never staying in one place for too long, as there are so many others to be explored. So many ruins to excavate, so many treasures to find, so many books to read... Books, in particular, holding a special place in her heart. Sophie is no scholar, but she loves a good book, and loves to learn as much as she can— In particular, she enjoys practical, educational books and such journals, as they allow her to develop skills that she can use to adventure even more, to find more books, to learn more skills! The oroboros of self-improvement!

Beneath this outgoing and enterprising exterior, however, is a sense of meekness. Perhaps it stems from her heritage, but Sophie is very easily intimidated. Very, very easily. She has a weak body, and outside of a bit of climbing, running and crawling, she can't do much of anything on her own. It's literally against her best interests to go out and adventure alone, and as a result, she has to rely on the help of other hired adventurers (or willing persons otherwise) to help her accomplish many of her goals. To this end, and perhaps something else embedded deep within her as well, she can be very, very co-dependent, and borderline clingy towards others that she travels with; Oftentimes going so far as to sacrifice her own happiness in the short-run if it means being able to stay with those whom she relies on.

Magic/Abilities

Alchemy – As learned as Sophie has become, she's learned a few tricks. She keeps a small mortar and pestle with her at all times, and make quite a few poultices, poisons and even reagents of the nearing-magical variety. She still has much to learn, but her skill with concoctions are nothing to laugh at even still.

Medic – Hand-in-hand with her ability to create poultices and other such anodynes comes a hard-learned ability to treat wounds, broken bones, sicknesses and other ailments. Sophie has developed a knack for treating the detriments of others— primarily due to the fact that, during an adventure, it's important for her to ensure the health of her companion(s), as they ensure her continued safety.

Reconnaissance – Born from her adventuring needs, and perhaps also in part due to her heritage, Sophie is an impressive reconnaissance woman in her own right. Her small, flexible, slender body allows her to crawl into spaces others simply can't, while her natural ability to climb allow her to scale certain terrain with much less trouble than the average guy- and without a terrible amount of noise, either. On some occasions, she's even been the 'supply runner' of her parties, able to quickly retrieve items that would take more effort from her companions.

Crafting – Sophie has been known to fashion a composite bow out of strong branches, hempen yarn and the horns of a goat. She's just as likely, however, to refine metals in a makeshift forge, or cook a mean fish. She's very good with her hands, and seems naturally inclined towards the arts of creation— from weaving to smithing to carpentry, the little white mouse is a bit of a jack of all trades.

Relationships

History

Sophie knows very little of her own history. She was 'born' a Connlaothian slave—  Found in a forest clearing near Matron's March as a baby by a passerby band of adventurers, and brought back to the city for her own well-being... into the hands of a well-known slave trader. A well-enough-off family purchased her from said trader, young enough that she could barely remember a time before them. She spent a few years learning to cook and clean, to appease her masters, but she was a tiny child—  exotic in appearance through her mouse-like ears and tail, but not strong enough to do any heavy labor. They were abusive due to her perceived incompetence—  Not physically, but verbally, which affected Sophie just as deeply.

At 12 years of age, Sophie was purchased again—  this time, from the middle-class family, and by a pair of traveling merchants whose eyes the girl happened to catch on one of her outings into the marketplace. They offered a fine sum for her, and the family accepted happily—  Transferring Sophie's 'rights' over to them the same day. Quite the affair, all of which Sophie was unlearned in regards to, nor did her indentured mind care to try understanding. She merely left with the traders and was never seen by her 'parents' again—  for better or worse.

The traders weren't anymore than a few fields away from Connlaoth when they stopped their caravan, pulled Sophie to the said, and began to explain what was happening to her—  what had happened to her. They explained how the papers that they had accepted from her parents were proof that she was nothing more than a slave, a possession of whosoever held those pages, and that so long as those papers existed, she would always be marked and branded as a slave in someone's eyes—  if not her own, then whoever held them. They then promptly gathered some kindling, tossed the papers in with it, and started a nice, warm bonfire. The wild flame stoked by her signed-away freedom was a sight that the girl, even as young and unlearned as she was, could both understand and never forget. In that moment, the traders explained, she became her own person—  Free.

Sophie traveled far and wide with the traders for many years after this—  both out of gratitude and respect for her saviors, as well as to get the chance to see the world through the free eyes of a wanderer. In her travels, she learned many things about the continent of Le'Raana, as well as about herself. She was an avid reader and learner, for example, and picked up many a trade of the crafting and gathering disciplines very easily. She loved books—  specifically books about the history of the land and it's lore; So amazed was she in her studies of Le'Raana that she developed a life-long dream of uncovering every unturned stone in the land, traveling it's many plains and rivers to write and record all that she could see and learn about the world around her, in hopes of inspiring others through her works of seeking out the great landmarks and hidden treasures of the continent.

When Sophie came to be of age, she and the traveling merchant caravan parted ways, knowing her dream could not be fulfilled simply through the kind of work that merchants did. Thus did the young woman set off on her own into the world, her future rooted in the mysteries of the past.
