Scythe-Nova

-"..."

She could see the wind coil around her arrow as she drew the bow fully as she aimed at something she saw in a clearing, the thing she saw was a large deer that would fit well as dinner for today. She let her breath go as she let the arrow fly with ferocious speed towards the deer, The arrow hit home on the deer making it tumbling to the side from the force of the arrow and in turn Vivianne took off towards the place where the deer fell.

-"..."

She hopped over felled trees and other obstacles that the forest challenged her with but she knew how to move in the forest and no obstacles hidered her way foward, The deer was very far away so it would take some time for her to get to the deer and she hoped that no predatory animal would take her dinner to be.

Klezmer Gryphon

There was a certain feeling Lucian got when he went out hunting. It was, to him, a mix of eagerness and anxiety. It always came about whenever he felt dinner was close. As the young gryphon flew through the forest, he got that feeling. And, right in front of him stood a massive stag, with a rack of antlers that matched the majestic creature's size.

Quickly, he pulled out his bow, and nocked an arrow. He had his thumb around the string, ready to draw it back, when, all of a sudden, another arrow came from out of nowhere and struck the massive deer straight through the heart, which sent the animal to the ground with a muffled Thud!

Although slightly annoyed that someone stole his kill, and that he'd have to go find another deer for Sigrid's cooking pot, he stuck around and perched on a fallen tree, curious as to who the hunter was.

((OoC: Lucan shoots his bow Mongolian style, not Mediterranean))

Scythe-Nova

It did not take long for Vivianne to reach the clearing and when she did she calmly walked up to the deer and felt a bit relived that no beast had taken it before she did, Not that she could not handle a predator but it was just annoying to do so. She now stood in front of the deer and the grabbed hold of the arrow and pulling lightly on it to feel how stuck it was.

-"..."

She placed her foot on the deer before pulling out the arrow from it and placing it back into the large quiver on her back, She was about to begin taking care of the deer when she saw another wind that she did not reckognize and she looked up and traced her gaze along the trees and looked straight to where the unknown being was perched.

Klezmer Gryphon

"So, you're the one who stole my kill, eh?" He said, leaving his perch, and landing right in front of the hunter. With his bow across his back, and quiver at his side, the young gryphon looked like some being off of a painted vase. He wasn't mad, at least, not yet. If this hunter shot the deer just to say they were a better archer, that was just poor sportsmanship.

"Well, since we're both wanting this deer, how about a little competition?"

Scythe-Nova

-"... your kill? Ummmm..."

She was not expecting the creature to speak which immediately made this situation akward for her, she did not like to speak with people she was no good at it. It made her feel uneasy but a plus for her was the wind that came off from this creature, she had never seen anything like it and found it pleasing to look at but from her expression you could not see any kind of emotion at all.

-"...C-competition? W-why?"

Klezmer Gryphon

"Well, lass, the competition is to see who gets to take this deer home for dinner." Lucian said, motioning toward the felled stag, which still had the arrow in its chest. As he thought about what kind of competition, he suddenly had an idea. Flying off towards the forge his master worked, he came back with a dozen hatchets in hand.

After a bit of labor, he soon had a log lying perpendicular with a nearby tree, and embedded the axe heads in an alternating pattern.

"Rules are simple. Shoot an arrow through these twelve axes, and split the wooden arrow." He said, and shot the aforementioned arrow through the row of axes, and into the tree behind them, "However, there is a catch. Want to know what it is?"

Scythe-Nova

-"..."

Vivianne looked after the gryphon as it flew away and thought that it had given up and decided to go away, She moved up to the Deer and pulled out the arrow with a hard yank and then put it back in the quiver on her back. And then she heard the beats of wings and realized that the gryphon had returned and saw that it carried a lot of hatchets, She followed his work with her eyes and looked at the target as it explained the competition.

-"Well.. ummm i guess.."

She said looking at the gryphon as it said there was a catch to the competition.

Klezmer Gryphon

Lucian perched on the same log the axes were embedded in, and continued.

"The catch is that you have to make the shot blindfolded, from a hundred paces." The young gryphon said as he started to preen his wings. He wasn't worried about losing. While he didn't expect to win, he wasn't the type to make a big deal out of losing, either. If he lost, he'd simply go and find another deer.

Scythe-Nova

-"Blindfolded?"

She said and looked at the gryphon with a curious voice and looked at the target she would have to hit scratched her neck while thinking about it, Her strange mind tried to see why this gryphon would want to have this competition was he used to firing arrows blindfolded or was he just challenging himself?

-"Well.. Ummm i guess i c-could try.."

Klezmer Gryphon

After the lady said yes, Lucian was off to mark one hundred paces, which didn't take long. Signaling for his competitor to follow, he presented the choice.

"Well, either I can go first, or you can. Take your pick." He said, untying the blindfold from his bow. While the shot they were going to make was relatively simple without being blinded, it was a very difficult without the one thing archers rely on most: their eyes. The blind fold was to ensure that both Lucian and his friend were on a level playing field.

Scythe-Nova

Vivianne looked at the gryphon as it paced out the hundred paces and followed him to the place he had specified, She looked over at the target and tilted her head slightly as she looked at the wind coming off it.

-"...Well i guess you can start if you want to..."

She answered some seconds after that the gryphon had asked and looked slightly to the side as she changed her posture so that she looked like she were a bit cold but it looked more like she were slightly uncomfortable.

Klezmer Gryphon

Lucian nodded, noting the way the lady changed posture. He doubted it was anything major, so he didn't let it bother him for the moment. Putting the blindfold on, he entered a world of darkness, and had only his ears to hear, nostrils to smell, and his hands to feel. Drawing the bow, he could hear the string tensing, the metal bending, and knew he had it drawn back far enough. He could feel the wind against his hands, gently tickling them as he grasped his bow. Up, and to the right.

Taking a deep breath, he let himself relax, to be one with the arrow. He could feel the wind was right, and loosed his arrow. After about a second, he heard a sound that made him smile. The sound of a wooden arrow splitting....

Scythe-Nova

Vivanne folowed the arrow with her eyes as if she knew exactly where it was going and tilted her head as she saw the arrow split the other arrow and scratched her neck slightly before looking at the gryphon and then picked up a scarf from one of her packs and wrapped it around her head covering her eyes and positioning herself.

-"..."

She took Cineris in her hands and took a deep breath before plucking out an arrow from her quiver and placed it against the string and pulling it back and alining her arrow towards the tree, This far aiming without sight was not something too foreign to her but hitting such a small target blindfolded was.

Wind could still reach her eyes but not in the same way as normal so she simply closed her eyes and took another deep breath before pulling the string even further back making Cineris resonate from the tension giving off a mesmerizing tone before she let out her breath as she losened the arrow, The arrow traveled through the air but it did not hit its target precisely but instead hit just slightly above the other arrow but it did not stop there it split the tree with a loud crash and lodged itself in a tree behind the frist.

-"...D-did i hit it?"

She asked as she began taking off her makeshift blindfold and opening her eyes slowly as the winds hit her eyes temporary making her eyesight imperfect.

Klezmer Gryphon

Lucian was utterly shocked at the sheer power of this girl's bow! He flew up to where the tree once stood, and took his goggles off just to make sure he wasn't seeing things! He was utterly dumbfounded! However, reality came back to him when he saw that his arrow was still in it's place, resting inside the wooden arrow.

"Well, you split the tree, I'll give you that, but you missed the arrow." He said with a long, drawn out sigh. He wasn't sure whether or not to say he won or she did. Either way, it was still an amazing sight.

Scythe-Nova

-"..."

Vivianne looked upon the tree and walked over the tree that her arrow had lodged itself into and took a tight grip on it before ripping it out of the tree and then putting it back in her quiver before looking back at the gryphon and sighing slightly, She thought of the annoying hunting she had done to find that deer but she lost the contest and she was not one to not honour such a thing.

-".. Guess i'll go hunting again.."

She said simply and strapped Cineris to her back and began to look around to find a wind that would lead her to another critter she could make food of.
