HERE IT IS!
The OFFICIAL PLOTTING THREAD for the CONNLAOTHIAN MASKED BALL! (http://www.spiritsoftheearth.net/smf/index.php?topic=15513.msg154544#msg154544)
It's been rumored to happen, but I wanted to officially put up the plotting thread for it since the thread is already up, it's just not yet 'open'.
For those interested, this event is open to <a href="http://www.spiritsoftheearth.net/smf/index.php?topic=14741.msg148388#msg148388">NOBLES</a> and PRE-APPROVED, PRE-EXISTING AND CURRENTLY ACTIVE SPIES, ONLY.
*This means any spies who haven't had an active thread before this one can not actively partake in any real spying in this event, as they have not been integrated into a deeper plot line to condone such an action.
Since this thread isn't open to the public, you must have your characters and ideas approved by me prior to joining this particular masked ball event because it's a 'pre-plotted' event- meaning the main event and outcome has already been figured out.
This ball is a monumental moment in Connlaothian history (well, ok, NOT monumental, but very important!)
Since the start of the war, the nobles have been too afraid to continue to 'party'- worrying that it would make them prime targets for rebels. A few years later, with alot of tension building between the upper class due to deaths and higher taxes, the Grand Duke has decided to host a ball to prove to the world-
We are not at war and things are normal.
And well...
This event will go on, without any interruptions.
Reason being?
It will plant the seed for the nobles to believe it's ok to resume life as it once way prior to the war, and in doing so, open up more possible events for spies and revenge to be had...
This event will have mordecai everywhere, so magic will be prohibited (considering ALL MAGIC will be snuffed out due to their power) and I also don't want magicks mucking up a preplanned event :P (that's what the events to follow will be about, after all!)
Also, because this event will go exactly as the Grand Duke planned- it'll be like a slap in the face for the mages, who are already struggling. That being said, if you've got a noble you want to participate in this thread, please post your character(s) here and a sentence or two explaining what they'd like to dress up as/ what they'd like to do! (maybe a girl is there for a romance? Another duke is looking to get in good with the Grand Duke? Or even his visor?)
This event is for schmoozing only, and even if there are spies, it's just to 'listen in' rather than do any real stealing of information (considering none will be presentable that can be stolen at this time).

Grand Duchess Kathryn: To complement her husband's outfit, she will be going dressed as a doe. She isn't there so much to have fun as she is to politick and make a statement to the rest of Connlaoth about her support (and, therefore, what should be their support) of Calent.
Cherie Treyburn: Little Cherie is all grown up! At 19, she will be using the Masquerade Ball as her debut into society...and maybe to find an appropriate husband. She will be dressing up as a highly-stylized flutterby!
Duke Audric: Audric will be attending the event as...something. I needs to talk to Caerina about complementing costumes! <3
Avery Carwick (http://www.spiritsoftheearth.net/smf/index.php?topic=15345.0), heir to Wulfbauer, will be there. I don't know as what yet! He'll probably be (grudgingly) looking for a lady wife.
Dahlia Treyburn Gray (http://www.spiritsoftheearth.net/smf/index.php?topic=15526.msg154919#msg154919) will come "escorted" by her youngest son (along with half the rest of the Treyburn clan, oh dear!) This will probably be her first public event since her husband died in the war. I think they'll be a red-winged blackbird and a sparrow falcon (I guess a boy over 5 doesn't actually want to dress as a sparrow!), respectively.

Jude Armand will be attending, in all his pompous attire. He'll most likely go to 1. Have a good time 2. See what good information he can get and 3. HAVE A DAMN GOOD TIME
and 4. to lay or get laid would also be considered a bonus for him, but not in his current agenda.
He will most likely go as a black jackal, in a mask with pointed ears kind of like Batman's from The Dark Knight-ish.
Okay so I've got two ladies attending:
~Valentina - she'll come beacuse she has to mostly, and will be dressed in a snow queen themed dress, with lots of white and pale blue, crystals and shiny stuffs all over ^^
~Nera - I had some ideas about this, so it will probably be a swan inspired outfit, mixing black and white...
I guess Braxton Treyburn will be chaperoning his sister , Cherie. Other than that, my involvement in the event will likely be minimal. Not telling you what he's gonna be. It's a surprise.

Illi: Why is she going? Because it's a ball! And what is more romantic than a ball? An avid reader, she probably has fantasized about the entire thing. Whether or not her dreams will come true, however, will depend if there's a dashing prince for her... ;) Or king, seeing as she's dressing up as one of the queens in Connloath history! Of course, no one will no this queen unless they're a history buff like her...
Jana: So Jana's plan is still a little sketchy. Ivory and I have decided that she's going there on the pretext of spying (she's part of the Free Folk). Whether or not actual spying needs to be done or if that was just an excuse by the leader of Free Folk to get Jana to go is still undecided (I don't quite know what needs spying on...). Either way, she's going. And she will LOVE to see her family. As for what Jana will dress up as? Something that will disguise her bounty face very well. Do I have ideas? Not really... feel free to help me. ;)

It's been decided-
Due to the amount of characters participating, the MASKED BALL thread will be broken up into mulitple, smaller, cake themed threads. ANd all privately themed threads will be labeled as 'cupcakes'. THe main thread will take place at 'The Cake Table-'
So at some point today- you'l start seeing new threads XD
I will create a structure for this system at some point today (cause it's either I do that or start cleaning... >_> *stares at messy house*) but we all know rp is much more fun!

Well, I'll be throwing my poor Treyburn in as well! May as well toss the poor sod in at the deep end.
Oscar is going... pretty much because his mother guilted him into it. He wouldn't have gone near a gathering with so many people, but she sent multiple letters pleading for him to come and 'represent the family as he should' (though why she wants all of them to do it, he has no idea.) His plan is probably to catch up with his siblings and try and keep to himself until he can leave without seeming rude. Ironically, considering his personality, Oscar will be attending as a lion since it gives him the excuse not to cut his hair, which his mother had also been pestering him over.
Other than that, since he's such a new character, I have absolutely no idea what he'll be doing here. Feel free to throw an idea in!

And practically all animals. I think Illi will realize that she doesn't quite fit in, being a queen. Especially at a place where everyone actually is royalty, making it so dressing up as royalty seems a bit odd. Neither me nor her seemed to think this through...

She's here for any action she can get, and to pickpocket things off of nobles who she believes should be giving her money. She's weird, as she loves stealing, despite being nobility, so I know what she's gonna be doing! She'll probably only make a cameo, flirting with male ballgoers, and eventually settling on a young nobleman who she'll drag to some back room. Then she won't appear in the thread until later, when she's had her fun.

Ah, thanks for asking! We're doing it in "rounds." Basically, everybody posts in any order. Once everyone has posted, a new round begins, and everyone posts again.
In our current round, we're waiting on you and Paradox, who asked us to skip him if we feel the need. So you can just post whenever to close out the round, and then'll we'll begin again!
I don't think any pickpocketing is supposed to happen during the thread, Singer... it's supposed to stay relatively peaceful (and if she gets caught, no more peace will be had). But maybe I'm wrong. Lol.

I think all of us (who are so inclined) would love to see Audric in tights...and his dramatic reasons for why he shouldn't have to wear them!

Kathryn: Masquerading as a doe. For all of the official events, she will be at her husband's side. The rest of the evening will be spent chatting up the guests! Open for politicking, for gossip, and for general chatter!
Cherie: Cherie is a butterfly! She's open for romantic threads, for making friends, and for just hanging out talking about engineering/mechanical things!
Audric: Audric is dressed as the prince from Swan Lake (to complement his wife's swan). Open for chillaxing, primarily. Also a good target for any spies or anyone wanting information on Calent.
Trevian: Trevian is the Jack of Hearts! He is open for everything from any gender, because that's how he rolls.

Update for me, too!
Avery Carwick (http://www.spiritsoftheearth.net/smf/index.php?topic=15345.0) (heir to the Duchy of Wulfbauer) will be attending dressed as an oak man. In addition to socializing, he's there to dismiss any rumors that his cousin (Constance Carwick (http://www.spiritsoftheearth.net/smf/index.php?topic=14815.msg138437#new), daughter of the current Duke of Wulfbauer and marked mage) has escaped the mage camps and is now running amok. Also, though he rather enjoys his life as a bachelor, pressure is mounting for him to find a wife!
Since he's too lazy to have found a real date, he also brought along his little sister, Bryony Carwick, who's dressed as a willow woman. She's 18 and very excited to be at a ball thrown by the Grand Duke!
Character Update (because I have so many):
Illi: Queen of Aerona (aka old queen famed for her beauty as well as her quests for land and knowledge)... there for socializing and, hopefully, finding her dreamy prince. <3
Jana: Jana is there to spy. She wasn't really assigned to anything in particular, but more just to try to sense peoples' general feelings at the moment. And figure out if she can weasel any information about military posts from young women... and yes, young women may fall for her. After all, she's dressing up as a handsome fallen angel. A white tuxedo that nicely contrasts her tan skin will be complimented by a red tie and white wings (that have red stains on them). Fiona Flannchadh has also joined the party! She has no mask. Her red hair is loose but well-groomed, hanging down to her waist. There are flowers and ribbons braided into her hair. She is also wearing a blue dress of an old-fashioned style and is barefoot.

Well, I at least posted for Davishire and Valia, I'll post for the others later. I wanted to intro my new character Winnie but that will take some time and being that I might be able to go home today, I'll wait until I'm at a proper computer before posting lengthier posts.
Edited my post in the 'Shenanigans' thread a bit regarding their new 'visitor'. Figured he was being a little too polite, since everyone's confused as hell.
Just an FYI: I edited my last ballroom post to include Davina and then an intro for Winifred. Not the best writing but I can only post so much on my.phone >_<

It's been like a month almost in most threads since there have been any posts, and most events have pretty much wrapped up here so yay *flails* this event was a lot of fun and success! IF you're still rping in this event, it's fine, just note I'm just posting this here letting everyone know it's presumed the event now went on without a hitch and those remaining and still posting can wrap up at their leisure, but the group portions in the open areas are now closed to rp.
