Physical Description:
Tarkus is possibly the most terrifying being in all of Le'Raana. What at first seems like a jumbled mess of animal parts- a lion's body, a human's head, a bat's wings, and a scorpion's tail- converge to become one of the most fearsome beasts known to man. His body ripples with muscle, and his crimson eyes could strike fear into even the most hardened of warriors. Multiple rows of teeth line his powerful jaws. His mane is bright red, and when in motion it almost looks like it's on fire. Tarkus doesn't roar- he makes an eerie, trumpet-like noise.

No, Tarkus does not have a human form. Seriously, stop asking- he'd never debase himself like that.

Personality:
A proud creature, Tarkus believes himself to be ultimate lifeform. Humans, fae, dragons- none hold a torch to the sheer power and beauty a manticore holds. An insult to his pride is likely to get you killed, and he'll hold a grudge until the end of time. A traditionalist, Tarkus spends most of his time in an ancient, booby-trapped temple guarding his collection of magical items.

However, none of this prevents him from having a code of honor. Tarkus respects intelligence and creativity above all else, finding the methods lessor beings use to accomplish their goals utterly fascinating. Drive is another quality the manticore admires- if you have a compelling backstory and a unique method of solving problems, he might outright give you whatever magic plot device you came for without a fight.

At the end of the day, Tarkus is a being that understands the duality between heroes and "monsters" very well. Neither can exist without the other to combat- it's the natural order of things. In his eyes, life is ultimately just a big, never-ending story. If he thinks your chapter in life is worthy of becoming a legend, he'll let you defeat him. If you're unworthy, then you'll fall by his hand. That's his role in the story, and he's content with it.

Tarkus doesn't eat people- the idea of consuming a being you could hold a conversation with bothers him on an intellectual level. He'll stick to kadiir, thank you very much.

Relationships:
None really. He's fought quite a few legendary heroes in his day, but he's never actually befriended any of them.

Magic/Abilities:
Tarkus can do everything you'd expect a winged lion with a scorpion tail to be able to do. In addition to this, he can fire poison barbs from his stinger and breath fire. You know- typical monster stuff.

Tarkus is terrifyingly stealthy- like, a creature the size of two school buses stacked on top of each other should not be able to sneak up on people the way he does.

History:
Tarkus has been around for a long, long time. There are many legends about him; some good, some bad, and all of them painting him as a ferocious killer. While these legends were all true at one point, the passing of time has caused Tarkus to mellow out a bit. Being a legendary monster simply isn't compelling anymore- he's much more interested in the stories of the heroes who routinely show up to defeat him.
