Hyacinthus

"Correct—  We're headed just north of the Kilanthro mountains—  just short of the Arctic North. Should only take a few days if we travel light, and, there's an encampment at the base of Kilanthro that—"

"Please, be serious. A 'light' trek through the mountains, through Frostbite territory? Don't make me laugh—  Find someone else to plot your death out with."

Sophie sighed, leaning back in her chair with a defeated slump of her shoulders as yet another "intrepid young adventurer" turned down her quest. That was the 6th one now—  All given the same pitch, all giving the same response in return... Rejection, once they understood the full scope of the task at hand. Dainty little fingers rubbed at the temples of her skull, slightly messing her hair in the process, but she'd been up and at this since sunrise now—  she could barely bring herself to care.

Bellkarth's adventurer's guild wasn't one that Sophie had done much business with in the past—  Not out of spite, or avoidance of any sort, but simply because she was rarely this far north of the continent. Perhaps it was the 'bestial' blood in her veins, or simply preference for a different part of the world, but had it not been for the close proximity of this place to her venturing grounds, she definitely wouldn't have decided to 'shack up' here for as long as she had—  a solid week, now. Ah, but the payoff would be worth it—  and just keeping that little reminder in the back of her head helped Sophie to ignore her slowly-dwindling funds.

Ogive Valley— Home of the first—  and thus far, only—  Thaumite mining outpost. Very little outside of it's rather obvious history was known about the land—  The common story went that a Connlaothian exile went north, and stumbled upon the material there. But Sophie wasn't particularly interested in the mineral. She was much more interested in the stories surrounding it—  as well as the geography of the land it was found in.

Unfortunately, Ogive also held a rather unfortunate reputation for being besieged quite often by a bandit clan known solely as 'Frostbite'-- A rather recent, yet all-the-more dangerous addition to the Ogivian landscape. Getting to the valley often meant getting through them—  and very, very few day-to-day adventurers familiar with their background were particularly interested in getting in a war with a bandit clan. Sophie knew this, as well as the dangers it presented her just attempting the journey... but she put up a request on the guild's board all the same.

Sophie's passion was exploration—  she couldn't let a little bandit danger scare her away from learning as much as she could about what was essentially the great frontier of the north! Her ears perked up from the sheer thought of being able to explore the caves and outlets of Ogive, as well as interact with some of the locals, and learn the lay of the land. Leaning forward in her chair once more, revitalized, the mousey little lady reached forward onto her little reserved table and adjusted the paperwork of her copy of the guild request, reading over it again. Perhaps she could've worded it a bit differently... perhaps she didn't offer enough coin as a reward...?
