Conall wasn't wrong in his presumptions. It was hard for Jinai to think or care about anything or anyone outside of herself. But it seemed Jinai was more than willing to help. Whether it was because she felt like she owed them or not, or to simply aid them in hopes to move on with her life and all back on her ass with drugs....
No one could say for certain her alibi, but Katahnia was grateful for the help, and knew, despite their history, Jinai wasn't the sort to literally stab one in the back. They both worked for the same cause after all, even if Jinai's intentions and methods were like a mystery to Kat.
The outskirts, she knew, would take much longer to navigate than roads inside the city, but as Jinai predicated, it was less active and not as many people on the streets. Though most kept their eyes down if they were poor, and the rich normally had escorts- for even city life these days was not safe.
It was a pity for her to see how much of the city had been turned into something of a military state, and it appeared two new prisons had sprung up since her last visit. Even more flags of the Grand Duke's branding, crowned more buildings, and as they rounded a turn, Jinai swore and gestured for the other two to get back.
Katahnia did not hesitate to keep back, but the tension was maddening, since Jinai did not move for what seemed like an eternity. Eventually she turned back to the others.
"Quick, we need to go the other way. Seems the patrols have doubled since last week. If we can get to intersection before the bridge, we can probably go the long way, but that would put us on a thruway to first street."
And that street was a bit too busy for her liking.
"If we have to... we can get creative in our means of travel," Katahnia reminded. "There are plenty of buildings around, after all."
Jinai simply shot her a look.
"Not if you want to draw unwanted attention. The trick here is to blend in. If you don't look like trouble, no body bothers you- even if your face is printed all over the walls." And to make her point, she jerked her thumb at her very own wanted poster.
"I think they got your nose wrong, but other htan that.." Katahnia mused. "It really does look like you."
Jinai only smirked.
"Ass."
