Pepper had been on a simple morning errand to deliver a packet of spices to some guy somewhere. Honestly, she hadn't really been paying attention to the details; some of the Masters really did like to ramble on! But she did get the important bits, which were that she was to deliver the item she now held from point A to point B by a certain time.
And so there she was, briskly walking down the streets of Arca, dressed in the robes of a student with her usual wide-brimmed, floppy hat on her head, shielding her eyes from the sun and keeping her curly, unruly hair in check. She turned a corner to head down the road the man lived on, but then paused. Something was drawing the attention of a small group of people and Pepper, ever curious, figured she had enough time to check it out.
She picked her way over to the small crowd of gossips, who were pointing and whispering amongst themselves, and that was when she saw it:
There was a mass of shadows there, writhing and twisting like living things.
Pepper just about dropped the packet.
She did drop her brain-to-mouth filter.
"...What the fuck?"
