There had been another death, this time one of their own. The victim had been a member of the Gnome group in The Elementalists' Guild of Darken Vei. Drogas Fepnor, the leader of this guild, was thoroughly worried now. While the other deaths were no less important than the current one, the fact that his guild had been targeted at all was extremely troublesome. The other victims had been commoners and nobles alike, with no real pattern to the murders, no reason for why they would have been killed.

The culprit, whoever he or she was, killed silently in the night and left just as silently, with nothing but a single black rose on top of the dead body. The death of their own was determined to be from a rare type of poison. The healer who had examined the body had stated it was made from the roots of a purplish plant called 'Cithiloma', a plant only found in a very few places in the world, usually high up in the mountains. Sometimes even growing in underground environments. It was not easy to harvest and cultivate it not only because of its rarity, but also its location and the fact one could accidentally poison themselves if touching any part of it with their bare hands.

The other deaths had been a combination of poison or having their necks slashed open at the jugular. Quick and quiet, no evidence of who it could have been. The black rose left behind was deliberate, that was for certain. Regardless, it was time to act.

And this was why he had called upon the rest of the guild to investigate this matter. Whoever would be willing to look into it. While some of the members were busy or occupied elsewhere, there were a few who volunteered for the task. Adelaide Wintersnow was one of the guild members who had volunteered, if only for the coin it promised and the fact that she herself did not wish to end up dead. If this enemy was attacking the guild, they were all in danger. She wasn't volunteering to help out of a sense of justice or whatever, but rather survival. Plus it had been awhile since she had last visited the guild and she needed to do her part to remain a member.

Standing with some of the others here, she checked everything in her bag once more to ensure she had what she needed. Her ice rod firmly in hand, spell manual in her bag as well, along with a few other necessities and she was ready to head out. But she wouldn't be doing so alone. Drogas had asked whoever would be willing to help do so for the promise of a hefty sum of money. One hundred gold shiins per person willing to investigate. And Adelaide could definitely use the coin. After returning from an excursion into the tundra, her head wound from before healing completely, she needed more money as it was. After stocking up on foodstuffs and whatnot, she was down to no more than a few gold pieces and several silver pieces. The divination orb and two books she had acquired were more than enough ample guild dues payment, Drogas happily accepting them with thanks.

So now it was time to leave. Turning to her companions she looked them over briefly, taking note of what she could. Adelaide hoped they could nail this murderer, whoever it was. With her ice magic and the skills of the others, it shouldn't be too difficult. At least she hoped it wouldn't.
