"It's okay," Riyarin said, giving his neck a nuzzle and reaching up to stroke a hand through his hair. "I've woken you up plenty with my nightmares, have I not?"

Lifting her head, she looked up at him, fiery eyes wide with concern. "Do you want to talk about it? Tell me about it? Sometimes that helps."

It was a perfect fit.

Too perfect.

And for a moment, Song was genuinely speechless as she stared into the mirror, a strange feeling curling in her gut. Inima...spoke to him? And told him all this? Had...had Inima told him to commission this specific earpiece? Of a dragon made of opals? Had Inima actually spoken to him? This was too specific to be a coincidence, right? And there were fortunetellers out there who could give amazingly accurate readings and predictions.

Maybe...maybe this was actually foretold?

Song's pulse raced for a new reason as she studied her reflection and she swallowed hard, her hands suddenly clammy. No. Naw. had to just be some crazy coincidence. And besides, if it had truly been predicted, all that had been predicted was that he'd marry her. And he had! There was no way he could know anything beyond that, right?

"It does," she said, and lightly touched the piece. "Immensely. More than words could express." And then, regaining her composure, she put a bright smile on her face and turned to beam up at him before pulling him into a tight hug.

"I love it! Thank you!"

Maya's heart beat a little faster when Lex suddenly pulled her in for a kiss, his lips warm against hers--and surprisingly soft, for someone who lived so rugged. She melted into it, pressing into him, amazed at her own boldness. Oh, she had been plenty bold before; she had gotten her share of kissing practice in Essyrn, and had even allowed them to get a little more handsy than was proper. But it had all been over her clothes, so it wasn't really crossing any lines; just toeing it, playing chicken with it.

So when his hand lifted her skirts enough to feel her bottom, she gasped, but she didn't jerk away. She was okay with toeing that line.

She was just surprised she was doing it with him. He wasn't even normally her type! But okay, light-skinned or not, he was handsome and strong.

And had charisma for days.

She licked her lips when he pulled back--and had the decency to blush at his brazen words.

Oh my. Really?

"It sounds like you're hoping for a different answer," she teased with a wry smile, reaching around to straighten her skirts. "But your instincts are correct, sir. I won't object to another kiss, though."

And she leaned in and kissed him again, giving his bottom lip a teasing nibble, before she broke it and met his eyes. "Tomorrow, then?"

The brewmaster wasn't the only one whose eyes bulged. Scarab's eyes rounded at the sight of those gold coins, and the flippant way Drex flashed them! And the nonchalant way he said they were all he had. As though that was some meager amount! But then again, his people seemed to have gems pouring out their ears, so maybe they just didn't value them the same way her people did?

The brewmaster turned his incredulous gaze on her, and Scarab snapped out of her shock and cleared her throat and rolled her shoulders back, straightening up imperiously.

"Well then? What are you waiting for? Prepare the barrels," she said, and waved her hand to indicate he should hop to it.

Owl gave a little shrug at that. "Then change clothes?" she said, and looked down at herself, dressed in her own leather armor.

"Think I should, too?"

Xoco raised up onto her elbows and gave Herrick a dazed look, her face flushed, clearly wondering what else he could have in mind. Still panting to catch her breath, and still trembling and tingly in the afterglow, she shuffled close to him--and blushed brighter at the sight of Raxta there, diligently working at his cock.

She cleared her throat, eyes wide but ears perked. "Y-yes?"

A sharp yelp left Fang's lips as he changed his pace, but it wasn't from pain, it was from surprise. Her nails dug into his back as she clung to him, gasping, her face going red at the lewd sounds of their coupling--but the embarrassment was quickly replaced by bliss as the intensity only increased and a strange, hot pleasure began to build in her core. More, indeed; he was going harder, faster, the force of his thrusts rocking the cheap bed until it creaked and squeaked, as though threatening to give out.

But Fang hardly noticed that. Head tossed back, she cried out to the ceiling as his teeth nibbled and his fingers teased, her panted words a mixture of Common and Thanati as she called his name and begged him, shamelessly, not to stop.

"Varian...oh, goddess...!" she gasped, grabbing a fistful of his hair and pulling him in for a rough kiss, lightly nipping his lip. She whimpered against his lips, her body trembling, hips jerking up against his with unpracticed rhythm as she desperately chased that building sensation tightening in her belly. "V-Varian...a-ah! Something's happening..."

Kuan stared at the dome for a long moment before she shook her head, shrugged, and slipped into her tent. It was warm and humid out, so she hardly needed any blankets, except to spread them out to sleep on, and she kept the tent flap open to let in the air.

She wasn't concerned, though, as she stripped out of her clothes, mopped the sweat from her face and beneath her breasts, and curled up to sleep. Swarm was out there, so anything that decided to cause any harm would have to go through it, first.

Khero slipped the robe on quickly, and unlike Elaros she tied it shut. She used the towel to wrap around her hair so it didn't drip, and then she looked to him to follow his lead.

"I was serious 'bout the carryin' thing, by the way."

It took every ounce of willpower not to facepalm. Why did she have to be so persistent? Why did she care so much about a random stranger? Why couldn't it have been some aggressive idiot stumbling upon her abode and giving her a reason to, erm...tithe them?

Sadb grimaced, her shoulders stiff under the woman's hand. "Why?" she asked, and forced concern into her voice and expression. "What's going on?"

"I've seen my share," Cadmus said slowly, still more focused on her scars than her nudity. At first, the awfulness of them had taken him aback, but as the surprise wore off, another detail registered: they were matching, parallel scars, save for the strand brand far lower. Scars around her shoulder blades.

He rolled his own shoulders, discomfort twisting in his belly as a story began to grow in his mind.

Wings. That was where wings would be, just as she had mentioned before. "I think my wings were black." The casual mention of her scars, and hint that she didn't remember how she got them. He remembered that, but seeing was different from just talking about it. No, her intuition was right; there was no other injury he could think of that would create that kind of pattern, and...gods. It made sense. The way she kept his feather. The sad fascination she had with his own wings.

She'd had wings once. And gods, but he was glad she couldn't remember losing them.

He chewed the inside of his cheek as she sank into the water and bathed, letting his breath out slowly when he realized he was holding it. His own shoulders itched as he thought of those fresh scars and the story they told. A horrible accident could result in an emergency amputation, but the brand on her back pointed to something far more sinister. They'd been taken from her. Cut out of her back.

Maybe it was the head injury still making him woozy, but he felt like he could vomit.

He snapped out of it when she spoke again--had she finished that quickly?--and he blinked and looked at her...and found her bent over.

He cleared his throat.

"I've been told I make a good big spoon," he said. "But maybe I should be the smaller one tonight, so I don't poke you in the morning."

He glanced over at the water and, finding it clean enough, stripped out of the borrowed cloak and sank into the water. It was definitely cleaner than he was, covered in days' worth of blood and sweat and dirt, and it felt amazing to scrape the grime off, careful of his bruises and mended injuries. The water turned murky as he washed, and when he was finished, he rose stiffly from the bath and shook his hair out rather like a dog before slicking it back with his fingers.

He dried himself off with her cloak, since it seemed the only available option.

"You don't remember anything about your wings?" he asked when he was relatively dry and settled on the bed.

Oh. Money. Supplies. That was indeed a thing.

With a small frown, Mei opened her bag and peeked inside at her meager rations. It wasn't much; just enough to snack on while she wandered around the city, and she had planned to be in Arca for a good week or two, exploring the sights, maybe visiting the mage's college and seeing if they would let her tour it, and most importantly: doing odd jobs to earn enough money to travel to her next destination. She definitely wasn't prepared for an expedition in the mountains, and she'd used up a great deal of her coin getting to Arca. More than she'd anticipated, actually.

She counted out her coins. "I have...enough for a few nights in an inn, and meals to go with it, I think," she said. "I'd planned on working to earn more. I hadn't planned on a mountain trip, after all! And I'm afraid I'm not too familiar with the conversion rates here, and how much things cost. I have Serenian money, but...I've mostly been showing merchants what I have and letting them figure it out for me."

Which, unbeknownst to her, meant that many a merchant had been taking more than the cost of their service from her, preying on her ignorance. She probably should have figured the math and conversion rates out for herself long ago, but math had never been a subject of interest for her, especially when there were more interesting things to focus on!

She lifted her coin purse from her bag and opened it for him to see. "What do you think?"

"Good," Kuan said with a nod of her head. "She's currently in the neighboring hut tending to Xuna. A sprained wrist, nothing serious," she added at Yun's worried look.

"Meet her there, and tell her Kuan sent you for evaluation. And as for you, miss..."

Yun grimaced as Kuan turned to look at her, face stony as ever. "I understand that you got lost, but that wouldn't have happened had you stuck to the road like I told you. You're on chamberpot duty for the week. Next time, maybe you'll do as you're instructed."

Yasmin blinked at that. "It's that well known?"

The news was...well, news to her! But Yasmin didn't actually know much about the outside world. All she knew was Essyrn, and half of her life was lost to slavery. What she knew of the outside world she learned from others, and it wasn't much.

The moment passed, though, and she frowned at his next words and rolled her eyes. "Of course they do. That's why brutes like Vetger do so well. There's a surprising amount of rich people who love blood but have never raised a sword themselves. It's sick."

Riyarin had fallen into a deep sleep, but when Kane shot awake, it woke her, too. She snapped awake with a small gasp and peered up at Kane, who was ramrod straight, before she pushed herself upright, too.

"Kane?" He was breathing hard, and when she touched him, he was slick with sweat. She could feel his tension, and she curled her arms around him and pressed in close, trying to warm him, to let him know she was there.

"Kane, what is it?"

That...really hurt.

For a moment, Hayate lay there dazed and aching. The fall had been okay; he'd managed to land mostly on his feet before landing on his ass, so it saved his tail bone. But there hadn't been much to be done about the cascade of books pelting him.

The corner of one of them had hit him in the head, right above his right eye, leaving a stinging mess. He blinked, feeling warm stickiness, and groaned. Wouldn't be the first time a book had come for his blood. At least it wasn't another paper cut. Those were somehow worse but--oh no was he bleeding on the books?!

The thought had just struck him when he heard a cackle, and his souring mood soured just a little more. With a groan, he pushed some books off his face and chest and sat up sorely--and glared at the boy kneeling next to him, an effect somewhat lost by his burning blush.

So much for peace and quiet and quietly licking his wounds.

"What does it look like?" he snapped, and touched fingers to the gash on his forehead. It was small, probably wouldn't even scar, but like all head cuts it decided to bleed like he was dying. He sighed. "I was clearly assaulted. Help me up."

Raxta tilted her head at Herrick's words and leaned back a little to study the two figures before her for a moment, before she figured out what he meant. Did he mean...? Hm...

After a brief moment's thought, Raxta rolled over onto her back and wriggled her way between Herrick's legs. It took some maneuvering until she found a comfortable position, and even that was a bit awkward on her neck. But she finally held onto his thighs with both hands and lifted until she could dart her rough tongue out and lap at his cock, still intrigued by the taste and sensation of him.

"Is this what you meant?" she purred, before she slipped him into her mouth and suckled, careful of her sharp teeth.

Xoco was beside herself, her hips bucking into his fingers, one hand slapped over her mouth to hold in her whimpers and cries as she feared that she might scream. Her other fist was still curled in Herrick's hair, her tail twitching and tickling against his shoulders as it draped over him. It was too much, and she felt that familiar tightness building, squeezing around Herrick's fingers and making her tremble--

And then when his tongue lapped at her again, his fingers still buried within her, she came undone.

She let out a muffled scream into her hand as she shuddered powerfully, her knees squeezing Herrick and back arching sharply.

"Suit yourself."

Gavan let him pass with a shrug, and went back to smoking his pipe. Honestly, it wasn't really his business and he wasn't too concerned. His job was to play bouncer and keep his Mistress and Swans safe, so if rules weren't being broken and no harm was being done, he made a point of keeping out of the way. He tried not to blend his private life with his work life.

Because he'd been burned before.

The servants quarters were bustling, even at that time of the night. There was always a lot of work to be done after a show, plenty of outfits to be washed and mended, equipment to be tended to, and an entire theater to clean. The servants currently there hardly even noticed Varian as they busily scrubbed at clothing that was obviously worn by the Swans that night, some using delicate magic here and there to help with the more intricate, bejeweled costumes that couldn't handle a scrubbing.

One of them, an older teenaged boy with a scarred up face and hands raw and cracked from washing, looked up from his work in time to notice Varian.

"Ya new here?"

Sahar's scream turned into a muffled gagging, and whatever pride she'd been clinging to flew out the window as that thing forced its way down her throat, wriggling and squirming farther and farther despite her best effort to vomit. She thrashed in a blind panic, clawing at her throat, unable to breathe as all those bodies pressed on her even as she felt a wild, sick twisting in her belly. And when she could draw breath, only choked, heaving sobs came out.

She gagged, the pain in her arm nothing compared to that feeling in her gut, the knowledge that something living and vile was inside her.

"Get it out, get it out, get it out!" she cried between ragged breaths, feeling sick but unable to heave.
