Physical Description
Wavy black hair that falls to mid-back, light skin, and bright green eyes. She tends to wear a floppy hat with a large, decorative feather, women's breeches (complete with fancy embroidery she paid an arm and a leg for), and a nice tunic. Her boots are well-worn from traveling a lot.

She has a curvy build with wide hips and a large bust. Her fingers are long and slender, but covered in hard calluses from strumming an instrument.

Confident to the point of arrogance. She is an arteeest, mkay? And if you don't like her stuff, clearly you have no taste. She doesn't get prickly very often, but her music is her pride and joy and she hates criticism on it.

She has the tastes of someone much richer than she is, and loves a good party and good wine. Doesn't have much inhibition; she just wants to have a good time! While she doesn't talk much about her own life, she's a storyteller at heart, and loves hearing the stories of others and weaving a good yarn.

While she is no fighter, she hasn't gotten where she is by being a wilting violet, and is rather tough in spirit if not in body. Not much fazes her anymore.

Lyromancy; the ability to influence others through song and music. It isn't so much that music makes the magic as it is that music is the conductor for her magic. Mostly, her magic is rather subtle, used to influence emotion, whether to dull it or to heighten it.

Her instrument of choice is the classic lute.

Patrick Carroll - deceased husband.

At 16, Branwen was married off to a wealthy older man (32). She didn't see much of her husband, as he was a career soldier that was full of promise and working his way through the ranks and often got stationed far from home. While he was off doing his thing, she stayed home and ran the family inn. She had a lot of time on her hands and taught herself to play the lute, which she used to entertain patrons.

And with her husband gone so often that she barely saw him, she got involved in things she probably shouldn't have. And learned, completely by accident, that she is a mage, something she kept secret out of fear.

Her husband died in a battle a few years after their wedding, when she was 20 and he was 36. They never had any children (for due to issues of distance and such, their love life had been rather...unremarkab le. In fact she hardly knew him, and her feelings toward him had been more platonic than anything). Without his salary, and with the inn not making enough to support her, Branwen had to figure out something fast.

Ultimately, she packed up and left altogether. There were some freedoms afforded to a widower that weren't afforded to a married woman, and her eccentricities could be blamed on grief. And having lived a rather stuffy life on her best behavior for 20 years, and with the inn failing so badly, she decided it was time for a big change and to take control of her life, and she was going to pursue her music. She'd had a lot of fun performing in the inn, so why not?

Besides, there was the issue of her magic; she found she just wasn't comfortable staying in one place long, paranoid that someone would figure it out.

14 years on her own saw her growing up fast, from a shy, sheltered woman to someone far more confident and resourceful. It wasn't without its hardships, but it was certainly liberating, and full of several flings and broken hearts (hers and others). It was also during this time that she discovered the existence of the mage resistance group and fell in with them when a former lover learned of her magic and introduced her to it, as he was also secretly a mage.

Now she works with the group and serves as a spy when she can, frequenting the same taverns as soldiers and using a little magic here and there to loosen tongues and inhibitions.
