~IN-DEPTH STUFF~

Physical Description
Shijie-Ren (5'11"): In this form, he would resemble a typical Gushui-Ren if not for the leonine feet and mane of abnormally curly, cloud-white hair. His blue eyes, too, have a more feline aspect.

Beast (5'3" at shoulder): In this form, he greatly resembles the stone lion-dogs that guard many shrines, only less distorted by artistic interpretation. He is a large hybrid of lion and dog with exposed fangs and the antlers of a Gushui-Ren. He has turquoise fur with a curly white mane and similar floof at the elbows and heels, with a fluffy, flowing tail that almost looks more like a cloud than a body part.

Hybrid (6'5"): Basically, a humanoid version of his beast form.

Personality
Zheng is wracked with guilt for being unable to save his home village and vows to never fail in such a way again. So, he must always be getting stronger and never take his gifts for granted. Everyone he protects, he will do so with his life. As a result, he doesn't accept weakness in himself or anyone else tasked with safeguarding the life of another. And he wholeheartedly believes that the strong exist to protect the weak. He refuses to work for anyone who abuses their strength to harm others.

Magic/Abilities
Shapeshifting
Ice Magic: His gifts grant him innate access to ice magic.

History
On very rare occasions, the magic of the land grants a special nature to those born upon it. Such is the case with Zheng. While his parents are Shijie-Ren, whether he is remains a subject of debate. Being born with the feet of a lion, everyone knew instantly that he was different. Luckily, his village found reason to revere him rather than revile him.

He was raised for one task: to protect the village shrine and the sacred treasure inside. While his powers felt wasted on such a small thing, he fulfilled his role without complaint. His life was one of relative comfort, and acting dutifully ensured his future.

At least, he thought so...

One night, a bone giant found the village. He tried to fight it off but, even if he hadn't become complacent, he wasn't strong enough to save anyone. As he lay there, battered and broken, he could only watch as the monstrosity took everyone and everything he held dear. Not even the sacred sword held within the shrine survived the destruction.

So, he traveled to Kongdong and found work as a bodyguard. He was never going to lose a charge again.
