The Four Great Guardian Beasts

Once upon a time, before the Fell, the people that would later settle in Connloath and Serendipity dreamed four elemental guardians out of the aether. For centuries, or even millennia for all anyone remembers, they guarded both the land and the people. But then their lands were cursed and blighted by catastrophe and they were returned to the aether from whence they came.

Centuries later, they rematerialized into a completely different world. Unable to return to what had become The Fell, the four Guardian Beasts took up new domains to protect the lands of the descendants of their mortal populace. There, though their powers are spread thin, they continue to serve their function.

Borai'us
The White Tiger, Beast of Wind, Guardian of the North

Its true form is a giant white tiger with strangely patterned blue stripes. Though the entire North bares no more connection to the wind than anywhere else, Borai'us has assumed the difficult task of protecting a land whose people have rejected the stuff of its very existence. It rarely leaves obvious signs of its meddling, though there are tales of a wandering warrior as fast as the wind who disappears as mysteriously as he arrives.


Maka'ara
The Blue Shoal, Beast of Water, Guardian of the East

Its true form is a massive school of blue fish. Once the spirit of the western sea, Maka'ara now protects the waters of Connloath and Serendipity. It has been known to both rescue sailors and protect the creatures of the water from undue harm.


Amur'u
The Black Bear, Beast of Earth, Guardian of the West

Its true form is a giant bear with vegetation and stones sprouting from it. Once the spirit of the Kilanthro Mountains, Amur'u now protects the mountains and forests of the west. It has been known to attack those overly eager to spill the blood of wild things, and to defend villages from mountain bandits.


Forna'ax
The Red Beetle, Beast of Fire, Guardian of the South

Its true form is that of a giant beetle composed of fire and volcanic rock. Forna'ax protects the South from harm, ever vigilant for the day Adela eventually attacks.
