Physical Description
Ghaej hides his face under a bronze mask. Likewise, he hides every inch of his body under desert travel clothes. This is because anyone who looks directly into his eyes is slowly drained of energy. He is tall, with a dark complexion, sharp facial features, and red eyes. His cheekbones, the bridge of his nose, and the line of his jaw are marked with thorns.

Personality
Ghaej has lived long enough to become somewhat apathetic about the lives of people around him. Worse still, due to his curse's effects on others, he is feared and hated by society. However, that is not to say he doesn't care enough to act if the given situation speaks to his former heroic aspirations. Though desperately lonely, he is simply afraid of getting attached to anyone he'll eventually have to watch die or who might become attached to him. Once you get past his emotional armor, he's a kind soul who wants to do good. He just needs help to break through lifetimes of desperately trying to stop caring.

Expert Swordsman
Immortality - He can be wounded, even severely, but cannot die. He always heals, though, and far faster than any normal man.
Moonblade - A school of combat light magic specializing in conjuring or enhancing shields and weapons on the fly. Practitioners may also extend the reach of swords by launching crescent blades. This school is strongest at night, and stronger still under a full moon.
Draining Gaze - Anyone who looks into his eyes is slowly drained of energy. They cannot break eye contact without a strong will, or if he looks away.

History
Once upon a time in Essyrn, there lived a captain of the Immortal Guard. He was brave and true, beloved by both the people and the Shah. But he had a secret; he was in love with one of the Shah's wives—the most beautiful, in fact—and she was with him. The affair went on for years without the Shah suspecting a thing.

One day, he was ordered to travel to a remote oasis to retrieve the heart of a monstrous tree that legend referred to as The Marrowsapper. With his skills with magic and the blade, he triumphed over the monster. However, when he returned, it was not to a reward for a job well done, for the Shah knew he had been betrayed.

The captain's love was executed before his very eyes, and he was forced to eat the heart. This is because, once eaten, it would render a person immortal but cursed to a lonely existence, unable to show their face without being seen as a monster. Anyone who meets their gaze will suffer. The captain was forced to eat it and thus became an eternal wanderer, seeking companionship but being forever afraid of both hurting the people around him and being hurt by them.

But that may just be about to change...
