Adelan Thunderblacks

Adelan Thunderblacks are a species of dragon native to the Thunderblack Mountain Range in Adela. They populate the mountains in huge numbers. They get their name from their exceptional ability to make their roars ricochet and echo through the mountains, being able to be heard for miles.

Physiology

Adelan Thunderblacks are not amazingly different to most standard dragons in that they have no major quirks about them. They are big enough to be ridable, and stand a full height of about 16 feet. There scales are different shades of thundery blacks and greys.

Temperament

Thunderblacks have a hostile attitude to any dragons they don't know and are aggressive to all species which interact with them. They are not impossible to befriend but they are very violent when people enter their territory, and have gained a reputation of burning and pillaging villages.

When befriended they are stalwart defenders and fiercely loyal. To have saved one's life is to have it's eternal servitude. They say that if someone dies when a Thunderblack owes the deceased their life, the Thunderblack will get themselves killed to serve their saviour in the afterlife.

Diet

Anything meat or plant, and crushed rocks if ill.

Special Abilities

They can survive lightning strikes with no harm, and are exceptionally good with electric elemental magic.

Lifespan

There are three stages in an Adelan Thunderblack lifespans, which are, like all quadruped dragons, naturally immortal.

The first stage is the hatchling stage. In this stage the Adelan Thunderblack will learn the basics, fighting, hunting, flying, all survival necessities. This starts from day 1 and lasts about 2 years.

The second stage is the teenager stage. The Adelan Thunderblack goes off in the mountains on its own and goes around enjoying itself. It will fight and hunt and mate until it mentally matures.

The final stage is the adult stage. This is the point where the dragon begins to live life as an adult, roaming as it pleases to find a partner to raise a family with.

Social Structure

The Thunderblacks have no social hierarchy, they merely roam the mountains and interact in a very human fashion.
